What kind of set up with vim is this?

ed is the standard text editor.

Install Xcode

>all that bloat

based

does it work with R?

Install Xedit

I already have it and use it regularly

How do I set up vim to be an ide? I'm sick of using vscode and the latency on it

Why the fuck does vcsa not have nano installed? I had to use vim to check some log files. If I have to Google how to close a fucking editor its garbage.

>that small of a screen
>wasting so much space on a directory tree and error list
>javascript
>can' t event into semicolons

>nerdtree
How to tell someone just follows the arch wiki and never does any real work: the plugin

Good job it tells you how to close it when you do ctrl+c fucktard

>install vim
>uses arrows to navigate
>press 100 times backspace to delete a word
>pastes using ctrl v
I have so many friends doing this, when I tell them they shoulf be using nano they got mad at me. Retards

>start vim
>first tip is how to subsidize impoverished africans
>second tip is how to quit vim
it's still my favorite editor but wtf

vi is short for visual-mode of the ed editor, it was very common for unix utilities to have 2 letter names. ed was invented by Ken Thompson as part of unix. Computer screens just started to be used in the mid-70s when Bill Joy invented vi so that it was possible to maintain a constant graphical interface of text and so the concept of a cursor on a graphical interface started to be used. Before that all programming was done on a teletype and printed out on paper, so all programming was done line by line which is why they only used line editors before that. The ed editor can still be accessed in vi/vim with ex mode, vi is just an add-on to ed

>Touch file && vim file
>never see startup screen

I like vim-startify github.com/mhinz/vim-startify

if you dont want to be urged to pay for the crimes of colonization of the Belgian-Congo use the code below
set shortmess=I

That's pretty neat.

It's the same way you close GHCI you retard.

install spacemacs

Install Doom Emacs because its an actually sane and maintained base unlike spacemacs.

This is a real Vim setup

>implicating you're a pro because no WM
>uses a combination of camelCase / snake_case

>17.742 seconds to start a tex editor
>slower than atom
kek

No thanks, I'll keep using kwrite like a pleb

I have way too many workspace configurations to load, I can narrow it down to 7 or 8 seconds without them. The startup time doesn't matter that much anyways, emacs is designed to be started once and then left open

>slower than atom
>still less functionality than atom
Go back to /wdg/, numale.

>friends
Kill them desu

>7 or 8 seconds
Learn to fucking configure your shit, i have about a quadrillion extensions for emacs and the startup time is maybe half a second.

Just use emacs, it has vim as subset

Please lazily load your shit. Spacemacs is often fucking bugged and loads billion of packages.

This, dirvish is better.
:Explore is okay, but dirvish is more conventient desu

What did you fucking do to it you fucking basedboy web developer idiot? Fuck you, I hate you people so fucking much. Probably just using Vim to seem old-school.

what font is this?
btw
> install emacs

That's why I'll be switching to the base branch instead, the only problem is that I have over 800 lines of configuration to work through

:L is even closer to being like nerdtree than :E, it splits the window and opens files to the right of it

> >still less functionality than atom
There's nothing your hipster text editor can do that Emacs can't.

it's already installed

just use emacs, it has linux and gcc and python and tensorflow and HAL as a subset

And get a better colorscheme while you're at it.

based and redpilled

>HAL
so emacs is actually an OS?

that font is disgusting

SpaceVim.

Google Steve Francia vim

Yes

just use both and each respectively when its the more conveniant option, most linux os come with both preinstalled already

>tfw want to use Doom emacs so badly on windows but it just doesn't work

Use vanilla emacs pleb

ive heard evil mode doesnt support many plugins outside of the org-mode stuff

Install joe

Install evil-collection to get evil support in most of the modes.

OniVim
If you want to stick to the terminal, lookup a vimrc generator
Otherwise spacevim

vim emulators just don’t cut it. Call me back when its running with headless neovim.

IntelliJ has a good Vim emulator

doing it backwards moron
use vscodevim plugin
95% vim functionality out of the box

just use emacs you nerds, it took me literally a few hours to make it less shit than spacemacs, which is less shit than any other editor I've used

Enjoy your RSI

I use evil and space as a leader key like spacemacs does

I tried it. It’s good, and while Intellij’s features make it by far the best choice for java development, I still miss vim while using it. I’m hopeful for Onivim to be the best of IDEing and text editing together, but it still needs work.

When did vim become a webdev utility?

Since the new söyboy movement gained traction.

Vim is a text editor. Javascript is text.
