Impossible to say without knowing the form factor, coupler, and compensation curve.
Luis Williams
It's an IEM. Can't speak to the rest of the stuff tho. It looks like an Ety curve to me. Just want 2nd opinions.
Wyatt Ortiz
It looks okay, the hump at 4-5K could make it sound forwards and perhaps accentuate sibilance slightly. It lacks in bass but I'm sure you could tweak that with EQ.
Hudson Morgan
I didn't know about the hd660s. How do they compare to the hd600?
Logan Cruz
better, but not $500 better
Carter Martin
Cheers man. Thanks for that. I'm more a fan of bass-light cans/IEMs anyway. I'm just not entirely sure the treble roll-off is that appealing (then again, that could depend on measurement rig). Do you think the treble roll-off is much of an issue?
Dylan Hernandez
Personally, I can't say it is. IEMs always sound harsh to me anyways, but YMMV. Stuff above 10K can be ignored unless there's a massive spike or notch, couplers aren't accurate at all there and mics tend to roll off too.
Benjamin Baker
Thanks again.

First time seriously looking to buy a headset and I was wondering if the Hyper X Cloud Alpha head are a meme or really good? Would the HD600 or DT880 be better? Mostly for gaming, wearing glasses aswell so i need something comfy.
Jordan Anderson
dont fall for the gaming headset meme
Noah Williams
Ok user I have a cheap $10 mic that's pretty good anyways. Which would you recommend for a $100-$200 closed headphones for gayming/music?
>dont fall for the gaming headset meme Is this the gaming headset equivalent of Sennheiser??
Grayson Ward
It's basically an HD558/HD598 with a good quality noise-cancelling microphone. You can look up a mic test on youtube
Elijah James
Are the HD558/HD598 better than HD600 in terms of quality?
Asher Torres
What are some models which sound very good but won't make you feel guilty about getting screwed over by diminishing returns? Is it the HD600? I'm very new to headphones.
its a load of shit, glass/high end optical cables are an oxymoron as they are more jitter prone than 75 ohm coax for digital audio. Reason being there is an extra step in the conversion process. Coax, AES EBU and USB are far better options unless you are dealing with ground loops
Grayson Garcia
Is this gayming headset glasses friendly? My frames aren't that thick or wide. I really hate when the pads squeeze my frames into my head its very uncomfortable. If not any other suggestions that'll fit my requirement?

How to mod Grados if I want to make them comfy?
Cooper Rogers
sell them and buy some real fucking headphones you goof
Matthew Cruz
Fostex T-X0 yaa or nay?
Gabriel Rodriguez
Convince me not to buy the Beyerdynamic DT-1990 PRO.
Not HD600. While it has 4 pads in the head band, they're way wider than the marks in this guy's head, and they're absolutely comfortable.
Jacob Ortiz
Watch some HD600 reviews on youtube.
Camden Hill
But I want comfy Grados
Nathan Jenkins
Wow, I'm convinced. Buying the HD600 right now, thank you. In fact, I think I'll buy two for when the headband eventually snaps on the first pair. It would cost me about the same amount of money as a single pair of DT-1990 Pros anyway.
I owned them. Mine had faulty drivers, in both ears, factory miss. Returned them for another reason. They are barely better than 600s, and they give you this uncomfortable feeling of reflective sound inside cups compared to VERY open sennheisers. Comfort is okay-ish if you flex the band, but still a little heavy. Can get used to. 600s still win on this. What they are better than 600 at is separation of instruments. When I say better they are like 7% better no more. Signature is almost identical to 600s except highs are higher, some rare tracks sound sibilant. Imaging is decent, amazing for music, but they are worse for gaming than 600s, I seriously didn't expect it. I personally think their perfect price is $350, no where near $600. Same deal as with 660S - overpriced but good non the less.
Yup. It's excellent, it barely rolls off and it does so in a smooth progression.

>could have bought stax but bought garbage instead this is just sad
Andrew Clark
I have ears lmao don't try that shit
Kevin Morris
stax sound isnt for everybody
Benjamin Cook
more like dark recessed mids planar shit is not for everybody
Jose Reed
I doubt that poster tried any headphones at all before buying given his lack of knowledge and the fact that he bought planar memenetic
Blake Jenkins
i got the lcd-x and hd660s, and yes ive tried stax
Ryan Moore
For longer than I can remember, I've been using Audio Technica M50 headphones, and I've always loved them. I couldn't ever understand why anyone would spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on headphones when you could pick up a set of awesome M50s for around $100. That is until today, when I received my Sennheiser HD 6xx's. The first 30 seconds listening to them ruined everything I thought I knew about headphones.
I'm so excited to start exploring and see what else is out there now!
Symphogear is obviously about the music. They do sing in battle, and that's where the symphonic power comes from.

no, I don't believe you actually tried stax when you buy reddit entry level gear like this
Kayden Brown
lol
Chase Thomas
But OP is wearing headphones, thus very appropriate.
Samuel Stewart
New season soonish, yay.
Ian Jenkins
Sennheiser HD414 pads fit SR60/80. Not sure about the new versions. They seemed to be a big improvement over the awful stock SR80 pads but I didn't listen long.
Shortening the ends of the yokes allows a little more tilting with modern "mushroom" cup Grados. 1/8" bore shaft collars on adjustment rods for the extra convenience of always having the cups at the right height.
General advice here is to just save up for and get HD600. I'd recommend reading the wiki mentioned in OP regarding modmic solutions. plebbit Jow Forumsletsplay also has some useful mic recommendation threads.
