Based.
I thought you were just memeing.
It's actually a thing packages.gentoo.org
apt install gentoo
Gentoo is pretty good, best meme I've ever fallen for
most distros have dpkg in their repos just like how debian has rpm in their repos and the "alien" tool to convert rpms to .debs
wouldnt this create a bunch of dependency issues?
Potentially, yes. It's generally not a good idea to have two package mangers running in the same space.
One may overwrite/delete the files that the other put there or maybe just error out when it finds files it wasn't expecting.
I wonder if its possible to get them to share dependencies/libraries somehow
that could be nice
It would generally be easier to just have them operate on different root filesystems,
But yes, there will be duplicated libraries.
This is only a good idea for packages that are an absolute bitch to install via compiling them

So all of them then, Got it.
There are a few packages that are a pain to install via compiling like firefox, libreoffice, or GTK+ even on a good machine.
You don't need another package manager.
There're already official prebuilt packages for those.
Compiling manually can be tedious, but you don't need to do that in Gentoo - portage handles most of the process for you.
DELET
Try Funtoo next time faglord
This is completely undermining the entire point of the distro, which is the ability to pick and choose which features do or don't get compiled into your programs. You might as well just install Ubuntu.
Portage provides binaries as well
>triggered
Am I wrong?
it all makes sense
>uses sudo
>uses apt
>machine name is Gentoo
Which arithmeticmeanfag made this?
Portage literally has an EAPI command for fetching and installing a .deb package from an ebuild, so you wouldn't even need apt
actually a very good retort for a trigger accusation
