ISP knows I'm torrenting

Even though I use NordVPN, help Jow Forums!

I'm trying to populate my new freenas server with movies and tv shows and my ISP send me the ol' cease and assist, then I started using nordvpn on my torrenting machine and they just sent another notice today. What do Jow Forums? I still want to torrent but how can they know that its piracy? I also get .iso files which aren't illegal

seedbox or aws

It's a windows 10 machine on my lan

I move the downloads to my samba share once they're finished

Are you sure it's setup right? There's no way they should know what you're torrenting if you're behind a VPN

Also ISP's don't care what you torrent. Third-party companies sit inside popular torrent swarms and harvest all the ISP's, then send a copyright infringement notice to said ISP's, which the ISP has to respond to.

>living in a "first world" shithole
I can torrent all day without vpn and nobody gives a shit, feels good to be free.

Would they ever file a lawsuit? Should I cut my losses or keep trying?

I even have an app kill switch setting on my deluge client so it stops if VPN coverage drops

Pia lets you torrent

>thank you for the crumbs

Your ISP? No. Worse case scenario they terminate your service.

Did you read the date on the notice that was sent today? Did it apply to a torrent you know for sure you downloaded through the VPN?

Check here too
iknowwhatyoudownload.com/

Did you put only the torrent app behind a VPN or the whole internet? Did you set up a killswitch?

How long ago did you receive the first letter? Any chance the letter you received today is still because of your pre-VPN activities?

>iknowwhatyoudownload.com/
Useless unless you have a static IP

Not OP but that site came up empty for my ip. I literally downladed like 40 GB of shit today.

>use VPN
>ISP knows your torrenting

Either your VPN software isn't configured properly and you're not actually torrenting over your VPN, or the letter you got was about bandwidth or something and not torrenting. They might be able to tell that you have heavy p2p traffic (which isn't illegal and is used extensively by software and services that have nothing to do with piracy) but they'd have no way of determing if it's file sharing copyrighted content or not.

no, I mean use a seedbox or aws.
stop pirating locally, use a remote box to pirate then move the shows back with rsync.

That way no torrenting on your ip.

>Empty for me
>Literally 20 porn torrents for my elderly neighbor
WEW

goddamn. Do people go through all this work?

no most just use vpns or private trackers.

I use a multi-hoster and do STRICTLY file host downloads. What is your opinion of my kind?

entirely depends on what nanny state level you're on.

>nanny state level

I guess I missed that meme. Educate me please.

Set up your VPN , go to ipleak.net , check that your IP only lists one server , click the torrent link , start it up , and check that ipleak reports only your VPN IP.

If it does and you still get a ISP letter , your VPN can't be trusted , find a better company like PIA.

Shit, they know I downloaded the anime!

Only Americans

Seedbox isn't a lot of work. I have one, running deluge daemon. My desktop client automatically connects to the daemon not locally and even my phone connects to my seedbox daemon, I click on a magnet link or add a torrent file on my phone or laptop and it adds it to my seedbox, when it's done it messages me on telegram (also if sonarr downloads something it messages me as well). When it's done I use a sftp client on my phone or laptop to download file (aria2c I mainly use remotely, ssh into raspberry pi3, it's configured to automatically download from the seedbox, I just tell it the filename I need), it downloads to my external drive on my raspberry pi3, then I stream the movie/tv episode over sftp directly on my phone. Took a half hour once to setup everything, and now it's basically automated, and I don't have to worry about using a VPN, because my ISP does send me letters if my ip gets logged by an anti piracy group, so with this setup I am care free, and my seedbox costs basically the same as a VPN, and gives me an unlimited VPN for up to 5 people, ssh access, 1tb drive, unlimited bandwidth, and can even install shit like MySQL or Plex and a bunch of other software that doesn't require root, and gives me a public html site that I can share links with downloads etc. It's shared with other people as I also have rutorrent, and transmission daemon on top of deluge daemon, and get a webui for all 3 clients. It costs 11 pounds (I'm USA), they run their own isp. If you need a VPN seedboxes are better because you don't have to cripple your internet with one or worry if you're connected.

A VPN won't hide you from your ISP
It will conceal your IP from companies like Viacom that look at leechers on torrents and that's about it

damn. I'm sold. Sounds like a really cool service. I think my multi-hoster has something like that then because it has a complimentary vpn as well as a way to torrent but I haven't used that feature. I just torrent OVER the vpn when I need to.

Just got a dmca today. Was having a pretty ok day until then :/

A sad day for us both, brother

>aws

doesn't aws charge by gigabyte transferred in general, rather than a flat monthly fee?
sounds like a pretty expensive option for a seedbox

My polish neighbour seems to be downloading lof of BDSM

Well fuck me, I thought usimg Rutracker was "safe" enough. Guess ill have to get a vm with a vpn for torrentimg in the future.

use i2p lmao
or move to europe

You don't have something set up right if they can still see you torrenting

>wangblows 10
>ISP knows I'm torrenting
Gee user, I wonder why.
Fucking underage autist.

THE anime? Shit dude, you're totally fucked. It was nice knowing you.

It's also nice because 1tb of storage so you can seed whatever, and keep shit on there that you don't want to on your computer, leaving you space. The only downside is obviously you're downloading to the seedbox, when it's done, you have to download it to your device, so obviously a VPN let's you do it faster as you download directly, but I hit up to 350mb/s (megabyte not megabit) on my seedbox so I've downloaded TV series that were 150gb in like 5minutes from private trackers. It's a good setup for me, but others may prefer vpns, to each their own, but it's not hard once you get it configured to your liking, and most seedbox services automatically setup everything, you just login to the daemon, and sftp to down load, I just went through extra mile to add shit like telegram messaging me, and automating my downloads to my raspberry pi external hard drive, but you can simply use filezilla and start using your seedbox in 5min after they set it up. My seedbox company isn't taking new clients but there's a lot of good services. Just find one that fits your needs space wise, speed wise (mine is on a 10gbit shared network but you can get ones up to 20gbit shared network or 1gbps dedicated). Try dediseedbox.com/ or whatbox.ca/ you can find cheaper ones too with less storage. But those are common ones. I'd recommend the first one as what box is much more expensive but more features.

Yeah, thinking I should leave the country

yeah my multi-hoster gives me 75 GB of storage. I usually just download my stuff directly. Sometimes when I hold stuff too long the link just doesn't work so it's only useful to store it for like a a day or two which is fine with me. better than nothing.

I don't know what a multi-hoster is, something like rapidshare or mega.nz? Anyway, good luck, and like I said, if you can afford $20 a month which is like double a VPN, it's worth it for a seedbox, they include a vpn anyway. If not, do what works best for you man. If you don't have any other questions I'm going to stop replying. Take care.

yeah. I pay $8.99 a month and I get a access with limits to stuff like rapidshare/uploaded and a bunch more. Also has vpn and other stuff. I don't have any questions, though. take care.

Do you have access to box through ssh ? What are the specs of the box? Could I set up my own streaming/transcoding server ?

We don't go through this effort in Italy I can tell you that

The state being your nanny, eg. censoring it for porn and other shenanigans.

>all this work
>5-10 minutes of effort and a couple shekels a month to protect your privacy

ipleak dot net
might explain why they know

How can you identify your neighbor specifically?

>tfw my fetish porn download sticks out among other's big bang theory and sherlock stuff

Yes ssh, no su, sudo or apt-get access. It runs on Debian. You can install this from their wiki:
Aerofs, air video hd, btsync, cmake couch potato, curl(wget too), deluge, dropbox, duplicity, flexget, ghost blogging platform, git, icecast, imagemagick, Java, mollify, mosh, mumble client and murmur server, ncurses, Plex, plowshare, python, rss, rssdler, rapidleech, ruby, sabnzbd, sick beard, sickrage, sox, sonarr, spideroak, squidproxy, subsonic and madsonic, syncthing, weechat, znc, etherpad, ffmpeg,node.js, p7zip, prodtpd daemon, sqlite 3. That's just what they list, I also have binaries and stuff not listed that works. Sorry it took so long to write, I'm on my phone and first time I wrote it, I fucked up and lost it all by closing clover by account.

I thought it was useless as well but it managed to parse a single torrent I downloaded from the many I receive via rss. don't know the reason why it fails to get 99% of what I download but it just detected that 1%

Also openvpn, MySQL h5ai. 48 core server with 256gb of ram. Unsure of the processor, and it's on a 10gbit network. The server is obviously shared with other users.

1 week old as well. guess this isn't a real time parser
