Gnome themes

I'm all for freedom and ease of use but why is gnome one of the ugliest pieces of software out there, adwaita light is unbearable but also the only one that is coherent system wide

how do you cope?

I use Adwaita dark mode, bro. It's great.

it is great and it's perfect after sunset but what about the other X hours of the day.

dark mode 24/7

Don't worry, GNOME and GTK are going to remove themes so this is irrelevant.

Closing as WONTFIX

>GTK think they can compare to macos aqua.

Why are they being so deluded and anti-"what makes Linux good"?

Every passing day I feel more and more like writing my own toolkit.

What's a good API? I have heard some good things about flutter, never used it myself tho.

Do you know what flutter is

Cross platform gui toolkit for android and iPhones?

Because they're a bunch of arrogant retards who think they know better than anyone. In any other case they would have been killed in the trainwreck that is Gnome 3, BUT RedHat is using Gnome as the main desktop so they are keeping them afloat.

>how do you cope?
By not using Gnome.

Am I missing something? That's just some guy who contributed to Gnome at one point. How does his personal opinion say anything about the actual future of Gnome?

He has a spot on the Gnome Foundation so it's pretty clear he's involved.
As for the theme removal, it aligns with everything Gnome devs have been doing so far. And they have been complaining for years about customization because it goes against Gnome's brand image (i.e. by people not immediately realizing they are looking at a Gnome desktop).
So while it is just a blog of one Gnome dev, there's a pretty solid chance that's what's going to happen.

It's called African American you racist

you might wanna try pocillo-dark-slim theme

It's my favorite so far

>gnome.org/foundation/membership/
>The Membership consists of all GNOME contributors who wish to become part of the Membership and go through the application process. Members can run for election to the Board of Directors, vote in the elections for the Board of Directors, and suggest referenda.
He's not on the Board of Directors, he's just a member. That's a bit more than being a normal contributor, but doesn't make him an authority.

I mean I can see them going in this weird direction, but until there's an official statement, it's just speculation.

adwaita dark is just fine, i even use it on non gnome desktops

just ignore it, gnome is where we put the retards who need to think they're doing something useful

ubuntu theme is nice

Arc-Dark looks legit.
Just needs a dark wallpaper.

nice, but that's not the default theme ?

Adapta is a great theme, I just dont use it because i dont want my desktop to look like a phone.
I cant stand arc though.

It dovetails with linux philosophy in the sense that people are free to abandon it as shit if they so desire and work with something else or even code their own. Personally I'm going with abandon it as proprietary shit.

why is "arc-dark" darker than "arc-darker"

Attached: open source designers.jpg (359x301, 22K)

also why is the date literally september 11th?
did they forget already

Attached: 911 cyanide.png (780x740, 62K)

one is dark, the other is darker than light. all the themes follow that scheme

Doesn't make sense.
"Arc-darker" suggests darker than dark when the three names are read one after the other.
Why didn't they call it "Arc-darker-than-light" or "Arc-medium" or "Arc-dimmed".

That's great and all, but RedHat money guarantees their continued existence and they can continue fucking up GTK too. And a lot of other projects and desktops depend on GTK.
I wouldn't care if it wasn't for GTK.

Man, i hate all these low contrast, hard to read themes that plague gtk. Where are all the windows 10 color schmes i would like to have instead of that grey and material bullshit?
It's sad that those are the only ones a kde user gets as a port. the breeze-gtk will hopefully implement color support soon. Damn bullshit.

It is the Down syndrome face of UIs.

>uses a non gnome approved™ custom theme
>blames gnome

don't you just hate the faggot who donated ONE MILLION to them?

EFL

don't compartmentalise further faggot
either join e or maybe a weston taskbar

>As for the theme removal
they're preparing for gkt4
they said gtk4 won't break your themes
you can't break something if it isn't there in the first place :^)

>orange
>orange everywhere

because you're wrong :^)
you're software sorts them by name, not darkness
it's arc > darker [than arc] > [the most] dark

GNOME looks™ best with adwaita
prove me wrong
pro tip - you can't

adwaita is high contrast
arc is low contrast which is actually nice, gray fg on gray bg is better to read than white fg on black bg
plus you probably should up your brightness a lot because chances are your monitor has pwm

I'm already at max brightness, my backlight is orange nowadays and I need a few minutes to get used to "white".

shortest comes first
learn to sort faggot

That's videogame logic, my dude.

test

that's common sense ;)

longest is longer :^)

what model is that

it's because of the misleading sorting

The sorting is not misleading.

see if it wasn't it would have been
>arc
>darker
>dark

dell 2707 wpf
It's old as shit but it was running almost 18hrs daily.

Why dont they just copy windows explorer ui? instead they copied shitty mac ui

It's misleading to mongoloids maybe.
