>400W power draw under load >slower than a two year old intel CPU with only 6 cores (8700K)
Why do AMD continue to fuck everything up? They backed out of the GPU market a few months ago due to literally not being able to compete with Nvidia, is this Threadripper launch basically AMD admitting that they can't compete with Intel?
Give it 6 months to settle down, let developers work with it, and optimise it, and then benchmarks count. Intel only have the upper hand because everything is almost build on their hardware and architecture, and already really godly optimised.
And who buys a 2990WX for gaming? It's clearly marketed for "inovators and creatives".

>10nm now delayed by FIVE YEARS
Yes I'm sure intel is confident now HAHAHA

If you buy a 32core 64thread CPU for gayming your parents dropped you on your head
Even Ashraf Eassa can see Intel will be fine in HEDT

You guys realize there's no such thing as a gaming CPU or gaming GPU right? People have been gaming on Xeons and Quadros for years, the only difference is workstation parts typically have lower clockspeeds due to stability and power efficiency being more important. Also Threadripper isn't even really a workstation CPU, that's Epyc. Although anyone surprised by the gaming benchmarks is retarded, it's been known since Ryzen 1 that all of AMDs CPUs pretty much perform the same in gaming above 4 cores.
Xavier Howard
I wish both Intel and AMD never released new CPUs again, just to put an end to dumb threads.
So 32-core Threadripper is pointless? It's losing on productivity too. What a massive disappointment.

Holy shit, AMD is finished.

>Game engine doesn't utilize all cores
"Duuuuhhh why is AMD so bad"
The real kicker here is that us autists get to run photoshop, chrome with 52 tabs, OBS streaming and/or recording in the background with all those extra cores.
Samuel Powell
so we can relax and go back at praising Intel for maximum efficiency per dollar
Kek why don't you make a diagram of CPUs per thread? Threadripper will be totally annihilated by pentium.
Owen Robinson
Threaderippers are workstation-tier CPU. Epyc are server/HPC-tier.
Epyc has RDIMM/RL-DIMM support which are worthless to workstations (They don't need that much memory and their workloads are harmed by slower memory).
Intel has cucked HEDT market for years by making ECC support exclusive their Xeon chips.
Threadripper's build-in ECC support is a welcomed game changer for the HEDT market. It forced Intel is released Xeon Ws (What Skylake-X i7-i9s should have been)
Lucas Wright
Is the issue memory bandwidth? From the benchmarks posted it seems as though quad channel memory isn't good enough for 32 cores.
Jose Martin
Threadripper 1.0 with 16 cores was 200W TDP
Doubling the core count to 32 should at least be double TDP assuming clocks and voltage are equal.
Memory bandwidth is a issue like Ryzen 7 chips and the odd topology wrecks havoc with thread scheduler for some software/OS.
****Looks at Windows 10*****
I'm more curious to see how forcing CPU thread affinities and playing around with memory topology affects performance for Threadripper 2.
Charles Green
This. I just bought five 8086k CPUs to stack on top of my Prime x299. Call me when AMD allows me to get 128GB of memory. I just can't switch to such an inferior system when playing demanding games like Quake and Elf Bowling.
Nathan Richardson
It's still extremelly good value in some workloads, but not in all

Is it safe to say, 2990WX was a massive disappointment? >muh HEDT look at 7960X and 7980XE now
> shitposter doesn't realize that Threadripper supports up to 128GiB of UDIMM ECC just like Xeon Ws while his shitty meme-tier 8086k is stuck with 64GiB of UDMM non-ECC memory (good luck going faster than DDR4 3600 with that much memory).
Cameron Rodriguez
>0.1 FPS difference wow!
Alexander Taylor
Fucking amazing. I love AMD.
Gabriel Jones
>Shitposter responder doesn't realize that CPU core speed would be a lot better than higher RAM, thus meaning the ideal system for playing Elf Bowling would be on a 8086k.
Noah Evans
only 52? novice , thanks to my R5 1600 and 24gb of ram i can run so much garbage at the same time , forget about games in the background entirely and just relax

youre a retard if you buy underperforming CPU. I'm still waiting for AMD to catch up. This is getting tiresome.

3x8 , was too lazy to get a fourth bc ram prices spiked horrendously (when i bought em they where 35$ a stick of 8gig of ddr4 , march 2017)

I bought r5 1606 and it performs well. Obviously I don't need 32 cores so I won't buy threadripper. Though I will consider some entry level 3rd gen threadripper for quad channel.
Carter Perez
