Eurofags out
I’ve heard it both ways. If you’re a burger it probably doesn’t matter.
Since you literally never say it out loud, why does it matter? It's just in man pages, so you'd never have a spoken conversation with this.
But yeah, I think daemon is pronounced "daymon".
Related: Do you guys say sudo as "Sue Do" or "sue dough"?
sue dough because it rolls off the tongue and doesn't sound like a noise a downie makes
The fuck does it matter.
People will understand you anyways.
And if they don't understand you, they will ask to clarify.
Daymon
Sue dough
>comes on Jow Forums
>asks about pronounciation
Fuck off Luke S. we won't help you with your homework
It's pronounced engine eks
DIAMON
Both DAYMON and DEMON are common. Personally I prefer the former.
you'll hear it either way when speaking with people. it doesn't bother me. personally, i pronounce it as DAYmun.
sue doo
as in superuser do this
sue dough is also a common pronunciation. but there's no reason to get your panties all bunched up about the way someone says something.
try not to be an autist and sperglord.

Yes, but is it rowter or rooter?
>Since you literally never say it out loud, why does it matter? It's just in man pages, so you'd never have a spoken conversation with this.
Maybe if you are a 15 year old ricer. Sysadmins or in my case embedded Linux devs will certainly have meetings where daemons are discussed. Some people in my team call it daymon, some people demon. I do call it demon, but it's probably false.
ae is pronounced like ay
ea is pronounced like e
laugh at this retard
>I do call it demon, but it's probably false.
Not really because that's what it started out as, likening the processes to demons working behind the scenes running things.
>I call them "helping angels" because I'm a Christian and I am against any and all demonology and devil worship.
>people pronounce /etc/ as slash et zee slash
It's fucking slash etcetera slash you stupid morans
It's pronounced service
Demon and sue dough for me.
DAYMON is correct
it's pronounced server.
>as in superuser do this
>being this retarded.
Daymon.
The word is pedophile, not pædophile. The "ped" part is supposed to rhyme with "head".
