This can also be a userbenchmark thread and you can post your results. If you want to. Or test rare CPU's that aren't on userbenchmark alike EPYC and Xeon; Which I'm interested in seeing easy comparisons of; By the way. Thanks.
Here's a comparison of the Intel Core i9-7960X vs. AMD Ryzen Threadripper TR 2990WX.
I'm not sure of a better opening image to use. Open to suggestions on that.
I like userbenchmark because it's a large and easy collection of benchmarks. Instead of a bunch of separate benchmarks. I know a lot of you don't like userbenchmark or windows os. But I don't see any GNU Linux versions or any alternatives anywhere. I would like there to be. For now you could use emulation or a small virtual machine. I'm sorry.
Also it'd be nice if someone tested the AMD Ryzen Threadripper TR 2950X CPU on userbenchmark. 16 cores. 32 threads.
Thank you to the 1 guy from australia that tested the 1 and only sample on userbenchmark at my request apparently by the way.
TR1 already had the process improvements of Zen+, so Single Core score is identical. Process adds 200mhz max boost to 2950x and 2920x compared to predecessors. TR shits entire i9 line, no contest.
IPC increase for 8700k compared to 7700k is 1. Not %, just 1.
I enjoyed it, user. Thanks.
Elijah Long
>Ideal for Various programs which should run on ISV certified workstations if you are a serious user
LOL, Epyc workstations CAN be certified, but not this nonsense. TR are for prosumers, NOT professionals. This has NOTHING to do with Intel/AMD.
Benjamin Bennett
>Here's a comparison of the Intel Atom Z520 vs. AMD Ryzen Threadripper TR 2990WX. >comparing weak ass embedded CPU with TDP of a LED bulb to a 250 watt monster I don't get the joke
David Ortiz
Don't kid yourself, 2990wx has no real competitor from Intel.
What does the certification even mean, anyways? A guarantee of a certain minimum sustained performance or something like that?
Levi Adams
We've already had more than 64 threads about this.
James Jackson
>Hope you enjoy it. Goodnight.
>in the distant past >go to sleep >wake up >thread is still there
>later on in the past >go to sleep >wake up >thread is gone

funny how things turn out...

Glad you enjoyed it, user. You're welcome.
Leo Moore
I wanted to compare and the lowest-end with the highest-end. There's no separate sections for embedded etc.. I thought it would be interesting to see and that you would like it. I'm sorry.
Jaxon Brooks
That and if I'm more vague and leave it open to interpretation then I get deleted and banned for "not a quality thread". Remember when we could just post threads with just an image and not get punished for using an image board as an image board? I remember. To be honest. Welp.
Not just performance, but to certify it works and is stable. In the corporate world, untested=unstable, period.
Mason Russell
Are rich boomers that afraid to lose one cent? Do they just hire techs and engineers so they can suffer the idiocy of their office coworkers?
Josiah Miller
The sysadmins need to cover their own asses famalam The management would not forgo the cents
Justin Wilson
That sounds sad as hell.
Nathaniel Butler
It's the truth, so no sane sysadmin would get TR systems for productivity. They will even consider the iMac Pro before TR. If something doesn't work on TR they have to answer, simple as that.
Isaac Allen

posted this thread like 30 times and i've seen every single one since the first hunting userbenchmark ones
who gives a fuck about the chip being badass? I only made $5 on the shares of AMD I own today. I need bigger gains. Keep hearing what an amazing chip this new release is. gains should be bigger if the chip was worth a fuck
So the i9 is still better minus the fact it costs a little more?
Kayden Brown
If you are serious into productivity, then you should look at Xeon W or Epyc Workstations
Jason Rodriguez
So AMD Ryzen Threadripper TR 2990WX is still better minus the fact that it doesn't have as good single-core and quad-core performance.
James Russell
However. AMD Ryzen Threadripper TR 2950X might be better than Intel Core i9-7980XE in single-core and quad-core performance. But it hasn't shown up on userbenchmark yet. Even then 1 isn't a good sample size. I'd say at least 10 for the immediate present is even asking for a lot. Considering even the Threadripper 2990WX has less than 10 samples; Last time I checked. Hence me asking everyone to test it on userbenchmark before and now.
James Hughes
Not them but I looked into Xeon and Epyc. Xeon goes at 28 cores 56 threads at the highest and is alike $5000~$10000~$20000. Epyc has 32 cores 64 threads at the highest right now as well; But has some kind of weird thing where they have 2 chips working as 1 chip and call it 64 cores 128 threads. I don't know. And it's more expensive. And everyone already considers $1000~$2000 too expensive; And who can blame them. Alike the Titan going to $3000; So now it's all about the GTX and GTX 1080 TI right now; For high-end; For non-sever stuff. I'm not saying that Xeon or Epyc are bad. What I am saying is that I haven't seen almost all of them or at least the very good ones tested on userbenchmark; 'Cause they're so uncommon. VS. Ryzen 5 or 7 or Core i5 or i7. So I'd like to see something that I can easily compare and that is affordable enough to show up for comparison where it is easy to compare. But whatever you wanna do is fine.
Andrew Lopez
>But it hasn't shown up on userbenchmark yet. It hasn't officially been released yet so unless some reviewer that's sitting on one runs it there won't be any results. Also userbenchmark is garbage.

>It hasn't officially been released yet so unless some reviewer that's sitting on one runs it there won't be any results. Also userbenchmark is garbage. I heard it launched on the 13th elsewhere but can't seem to find it available. So. They should run it. Also userbenchmark is not garbage.
Adrian Kelly
Userbenchmark is great and better than every other benchmark because there's nothing else like it. By default. There are no alternatives. Where else can you see a collection of different computer components in real-world settings and test your own components to be part of that collection? Until there is another alternative -- I'm using userbenchmark.
>not using userbenchmark because it's "garbage" and not "cool" instead of just playing with it
no fun.
Jonathan Cook
Use the Phoronix test suite for Linux and expect to about double your performance. Win10 sucks fat hairy goat balls on 32c/64t NUMA chips like the 2990WX.
Logan Nguyen

Jacob Morgan
Phoronix sucks fat hairy goat balls because can't easily compare a collection like userbenchmark. But thank you.
Gavin Rodriguez
is single core speed still an issue?
Carter Allen
It's not an issue so much as it's not designed for it. Ryzen 7 2700X has pretty fast single-core and quad-core speed. Ryzen TR 2950X might be faster; But that remains to be seen; As it's untested on userbenchmark. 2990WX still has the best overall performance and the best multi-core performance.
Julian Robinson
wow. AMD really kinda got their shit together didnt they?
Parker Wood
thanks! last amd processor I had was an fx-6300 and it sucked so hard that I begrudgingly switched to Intel. hoping to get back on the AMD train when these boys come out
John Johnson
you're welcome! if you hate Intel and love AMD then you could've went for the AMD FX-8350; currently $87. there's also the FX-9590 for $93; which is the best-performing FX chip; but it apparently needs to have powerful cooling alike liquid cooling to work; high-end FX chips are known for being hot as it is. but they all need something to cool them down; so. they're also good in single-core, quad-core, and multi-core performance all the same. You'd probably be good with any AMD Ryzen chip; They're around the same level as Intel; But for a cheaper price. AMD Ryzen Threadripper TR 2990WX is out, and Ryzen 7 2700X is out. 2950X is apparently not out. AMD is also holding back the Ryzen 7 2800X for the 8-core intel coffee lake battle; apparently. They want intel to release their chip, then they want to tweak and release th Ryzen 7 2800X to out-do them. Since they've been burned so many times by intel by being slightly-1-up'd, especially the last time around, with the Ryzen launch; Which a lot said was disappointing. Even though Ryzen is basically better than everything Intel released before Ryzen in every way. So AMD beat the last generation, but not the current generation. But. 2990WX is their most expensive "flagship" CPU. YSo it's a matter of buying now or waiting; As always. We'll see.
Jose Adams
Yeah. With gigantic dominating competition like Intel, it's all just a matter of waiting until that gigamonster starts doing repeating mistakes and then reap profits. It's a waiting game. Microsoft is doing it with Bing as all they need to do is wait for Google to go to shitter which it's already showing signs of doing.
Tyler Sanders
I would like to interject with shameless shilling of duckduckgo.com . If I get deleted and banned for advertising then it was totally worth it and I regret nothing.

So I'm still sitting on a Intel build from 2010, with a i7 950. Am I stupid for wanting to do a balls to the wall TR build with a 1950X and ROG Zenith Extreme to finally replace my dinosaur? My PC is very multipurpose, photo/video editing, HTPC, Plex server and gaming and the only reason I'm still using this old build is because the fucking thing is still kicking, even with a 4Ghz OC all these years.
Caleb Reyes
> things done in a 4-core/8-thread CPU > do I need a 16c/32t CPU? Just upgrade to a 2700X and you're more than fine.
Brayden Flores
Wait for and get a 2950X and do a test on userbenchmark for me bro lel.
Jayden Williams
Yeah but fuck Microsoft and fuck Bing
Isaiah Reyes
What this user said
Nathaniel Jackson
Yeah!
Parker Morris
Yeah but fuck Alphabet Inc and fuck Google
Ryan Nguyen
Who are Google? Owners of youtube banning people for no reason and demanding you buy a cell phone to track you. And purposely make Chromium more difficult to download and update for most users; While the more shilled Chrome has botnet shit put in it. Nobody talks about that! Like I'm going to listen to those motherfuckers.
pleb why did you not have faith in Mommy Su in the investing world, you do not invest in the company, you invest in the person Intel is going to be interesting in 2020-21 thanks to Jim Keller
Nah your just a upmarket prozzie sucking thermal paste tim out of Jewish boycockpusy
Christopher Lee
As expected from an average Jow Forumstard, when you get fired and fined for a million as you used uncertified CPU that lagged and cost your company millions in profits we will talk. Oh wait I forgot, you are a basement dwelling NEED after all (^:
Alexander Harris
Slightly off topic. I'm considering going back to AMD after switching to Intel only shortly after Ryzen. What does Jow Forums think about upgrading to the 2700x from a i5 6600k @4.6? Should I just wait one extra gen?
