Just don't get anything with 802.11ac because there are no drivers in the kernel for those.
Definitely AR9380
Op here, thanks
BTW, should I get two wifi cards?
one atheros for 802.11N
and a different one for 802.11ac?
I wouldn't worry about ac, but that's just me. I don't have any devices that use it.

On the subject of these little cards:
What happens if you switch the black and white wires? Does it explode?
I bet it works just fine, you'll just be reversing the antennas.
Just FYI - you have to ensure that your FRUs match on the card, or the board will reject it.

Using Gobi3 with Arch; I'm living with it.
My thinkpad has libreboot so I can use w/e comfy wifi card I like :D but yeah, I was assuming OP is removing the whitelist based on my AR9380 recommendation, otherwise you have to make sure the card won't be rejected
What do you mean by that? my 7265 works out of the box on openSUSE.
Op here
Op is going to buy X230 / T420 /T430 and corebooting it
In that case, definitely get the AR9380 over AR5008, you won't regret it
AR9380 is not listed as AP suported

Can miktrotik cards work in laptop or those are just for their boards?
I just ran iw list, my chip says it supports AP mode
Thanks user
Op here again, did some research
