I never knew how desperately I needed Dudley Do-Right to not be a girl.

I just moved to the US and looking for a new, decent laptop for some gaming and programming. I went to Walmart and found pic related.
Is it good? And are US Retailers selling decent-ish laptops now? I remember thid place used to tell me to not buy shit from any retailer

Can leaving a dead hard drive plugged in until I can get a replacement hurt anything?

I'm far too lazy to open my case any more than strictly necessary

If scrolling has lag spikes every few seconds in Chrome and Firefox tabs constantly hang is it safe to assume its a GPU hardware acceleration problem?

Why is my SSD running so hot?

Attached: drives.png (624x496, 30K)

do people get darker skin as they grow older?

could be your air flow, got a picture of the interior of your case?

How do I stop the waiting for bla bla bla tab that pops up in the bottom left corner when watching long videos on sites other than youtube?

Is Canada our imouto and we’re all siscons?

How do i bypass sites that ask me to turn off adblock?
(also just got chrominium and want to know what's necceseary to use it well)

So Im stressed out that on Linux Mint every now and then the terminal randomly prints out a message about the cpu overheating and being throttled. My fans aren't spinning and it isnt more than an annoyance but I've read that it means my hardware is damaged. I have a laptop that I dropped once, but that was a long time ago, and I can't afford an upgrade. Is there a chance its a software issue and I'm not fucked?

Not at the moment, it's a pain to get the cover on because of the casefans.

It's a 2.5" drive in a 3.5" adapter that's designed to hold 2 drives, so I don't see how it can be the only one by itself that's heating up.

MSI is pretty shit. Walmart computers in general are snowflake models made to reach a price point and usually have problems later on in terms of support or reliability. Look at Fry’s or Micro Center, or just buy online.

what

Attached: 1513529647651.png (812x763, 28K)

It could be possible that you just got a faulty SSD, have you tried contacting sandisk?

Turn acceleration off and find out.

It’s a gamble.

Use an anti-adblock killer blocklist.

Check temperatures in your BIOS or with another utility.

Attached: image.jpg (575x1024, 290K)

How can I check temps with BIOS during OS operation? And temps don't seem to be high since the fans aren't overheating.

Please someone tell me how I can apply QoS rules on a Ubuntu server with relative ease? All I want to ensure is that there's a fair amount of bandwidth per running service, which this server has about 8 critical services.

Problem I'm running into right now is one of them is hogging all the available bandwidth (100MB/s up/down) and users are complaining.

Reboot when the message appears and check.

>Tfw neither store is in Tallahassee
What online stores are good/have fast shipping? Also which brands should I look out for?

If I want to update to a new build of the same custom ROM, can I dirty flash it, or is it better that I do a clean install? This is the ROM in question.

Does anyone know the flag to set in chrome to switch back to the old style of webm player?
Having a gigantic play/pause button in the middle of my porn webms is suboptimal.

Attached: webm.jpg (559x398, 57K)

But wouldn't that cause the temps to change due to different factors affecting the cpu? Sorry if these are dumb questions.

>florida
Where are you from and how did you end up in fucking Florida? Anyway, Dell’s online store is good and fast, as is Amazon. You can order online from the previously mentioned as well.

There shouldn’t be much change, it doesn’t happen instantaneously.

Attached: image.jpg (1362x1008, 711K)

Thanks then. Have a good day :)

wanting to know this too.

Panama. Basically FSU has a campus in Panama and they have a program that allows me to pay as if I were a Florida resident. That and looking into my major's program convinced me it may not be a bad idea to come here.

>Dell
I've had bad experiences with them before, so I'm weary of buying shit from them. May look at options on Amazon, though.

#enable-modern-media-controls
Disable that.

Fuck the "Progressive" player made by the progressive team.

What's superseding KMSPico? There's supposedly a new option, but I don't understand how it works, so I'm cautious about using it.

You buy them online because the ones you find in walmart are the shitty ones because multiple reasons.
MSI makes over average laptops.
Lenovo ones being the best hardware and cooling wise.
Avoid Acer and Razer gaming laptops.

But in general everyone will tell you to build a desktop or buy a used office PC and put a GPU on it.
But if you really want a gaming laptop look for a laptop with a 8th gen CPU and a GTX 1050Ti or better.
Look for the size of the heatsink of each model and be sure they are separate heatsinks, a laptop that uses the same heatsink for the CPU and GPU is asking for troubles in the long run.

MSToolkit>KMSPico.

Example, this is a proper heatsink and way cheaper than the one you linked.

How do I get rid of win10's stupid candycrush bullshit?

Attached: a38d9df58609ace35b39406e7d2aecff.jpg (1455x1733, 367K)

By installing Windows 10 2016 LTSB.

Is it possible to pirate a paid, single player mobile game by just downloading the .apk from somewhere and installing it on your mobile device, or can they somehow tell that you did not buy it legitimately and ban your account or something?

is this the thread for stupid questions ?

Yes, it is also easy to remove the verification system used by the app by modifying the APK by standard everyone that uploads the APK somewhere does this.
Also to remove ads.

Is there a way to make windows explorer search not complete dogshit?

Ex. I want to reply to a post with a stupid frog. The stupid frog filename is "dumbass frog.jpg". In the upload file dialog here on Jow Forums I type in "frog" because I have 50,000 images in my folder. On Linux (using Nautilus) typing in frog will show all images that have frog anywhere in their filename while on windows the filename has to start with frog or it won't find it. This is dogshit. Can I change it?

Attached: 1510517907925.png (267x316, 141K)

g pro or g403
I am used to ambidextrous mice

Attached: 1489314529338.jpg (322x218, 24K)

I figured it out. If anyone stumbles across this thread and has the same problem I had to go into the File > Change folder and search options > search and check "Don't use the index when searching in file folders for system files (searches may take longer". After that searching for partial filenames works. Why Windows 10 thinks my fucking frog reaction images are system files is something I don't understand but at least it's doing what I want now. Sorry to clutter the thread.

how hard is it to build my own linux for an intermediate pc user

Good to know on both counts, thanks.

>not wanting to fuck your own little sister
Imagine being this much of a faggot

wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/List_of_recommended_Windows_software#Search_utilities

Right click it, uninstall.

I assume you mean build your own linux distro, it's not hard but it's very time consuming and you'll probably be kicking yourself when it comes to package management
just pick something that already exists

g403 is quite decidedly not ambidextrous, and also the g102/203 is a better and cheaper mouse than the g pro

How can I convert my program from updating the ui on a timer, to running an asynchtask in Java?

Which is canon, 3Dfx or 3dfx?

look up the linux from scratch documentation. the hardest part is compiling from source imo

but why are they better?

Attached: 1521211372818.png (1028x880, 319K)

3dfx.

1/3rd the cost, doens't have a heavy and stiff braided cable, far easier to press the middle mouse button, it has a different sensor which is near enough identical, and uses different switches which are quieter

okay, thanks

Is there any way to find out the account names/passwords on a computer running windows xp professional if you don't have admin access?

Attached: think.jpg (474x363, 21K)

Is it possible to be too dumb to be a programmer? What's the minimum IQ for someone to understand how to code ?

Not him but think of it this way.
One uses a 95% accuracy sensor, the other use a 90-94% accuracy sensor which is cheaper to make since the standard is way lower but still fall in the good category and those who fail to met the standard get sold as 85-90% accuracy sensors, this is what you are getting.

This is hypothetically speaking, mouse sensors doesn't work this way but its only to give yourself a idea.

my oneplus 3 overheated and won't turn on or charge now. I think the motherboard is what died. I bought an honor view10 to replace it because that seemed the best in my price range.

what's a decent cheap phone I can go buy to use while I wait for it to ship to me?

alright, thanks
considering I've got prime, the 203 is $27, and the pro is $39, which one would you recommend?

Attached: 1469073376456.jpg (419x281, 39K)

Its something you will use for years, it all depends in how much you can spend, but atleast try to get a G300s.
G403 if you had to choose between the g pro and g403 unless you are left handed.

I'm replacing the motherboard and CPU in my computer soon and plan on formatting everything.
Will I be able to use my same windows 10 product key to activate it or is that stuff tied to hardware?

>G300s
?
I'm right handed, just used to ambidextrous mice (been using an m100 for years)

Attached: 1465707440136.png (323x439, 116K)

>?
One of the cheap Logitech mouses.
But if you are using that anything is a upgrade.

What do I need in order to move my Windows install from my HDD to an SSD? Can I just copy everything and set it to boot from there or am I missing something? Files are in another partition.

well I'm not really on a budget, but I'll go with the 203 because of the cable
thanks much

Will a GTX 1050 be able to handle the gpu-hq profile in mpv with no dropped frames?

Attached: 6C318B65-6070-48A9-A845-5838D6979128.jpg (914x1249, 158K)

Clonezilla because you also need to copy the boot partition.
And the other 2 partitions if you are using GPT

I'm repairing a friends computer and I'm dumbfounded by this issue. The computer doesn't boot when the cpu connector is plugged in. But, when it's unplugged it stays on for about 30 seconds and if you plug the cable back into the cpu power connector within that time it boots normally. Don't motherboards not turn on at all when there isn't power to the cpu? It's bizarre.

We refunded the motherboard for another one, I'm certain it's faulty. Am I right? We tried other power supplys and ran into the same issue.

It can be 2 things, the VRM setup is kill and cant cold start the CPU anymore.
Or the PSU you have cant cold start the build you are using.

And motherboards do turn on when there is no CPU or CPU power, it runs a POST test.

Also describe better the build you are using.

bought a used gtx 1070ti for 317 euro yesterday should I have waited two weeks for prices to drop and got a gtx1080 or 1080ti if it dropped more

Gtx 1060, i7, 16 gb ram, 600w power supply. The power supplys we tested were definitely enough power for these parts. I've tried removing ram, removing video card, reseting cmos battery. None of those worked.

Yes, if you are too dumb to form simple sentences. Otherwise you can learn the most basic syntax of a language and copy&paste the rest from stack overflow.
Writing simple and readable yet efficient code is a different story.

I've switched to chrome because firefox has been getting worse and worse lately. Youtube is showing progressively more "recommended for you" videos as time goes on, which I never had a problem with before. I've checked the settings and watch history etc is still disabled. Is there anything I can do about this?

Palemoon.

Can someone help me how is my harddrive? Can't seem to know what these numbers mean. Current status of the drive is slow as hell and every click will freeze for 10min minimum

Attached: HDSCAN ST31000524AS.jpg (641x919, 424K)

How do you stop a background job in the terminal?

Its dying.
Also use Crystaldiskinfo.
Never buy seagate HDDs.

Reallocated sector count above one means that is dying but managing to stay alive fixing the problems itself.
Current pending sectors are the ones that are going to be fixed.
Uncorrectable sector count is the ones that are gone for good which casually its the same than pending so its only going downhill from here.

Stop using that drive, get another one and backup all the stuff you need from it fast.
Look for WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM (EZEX)

brainlet here

so im about to get a new ssd and just downloaded speccy and checking through my current storage info and it says
Max. Transfer Mode SATA II 3.0Gb/s
Used Transfer Mode SATA II 3.0Gb/s

for all three of my current hard drives.
(not sure if im lookin at the right thing)

my motherboard is a gigabyte H87M-HD3 does this mean I can't utilize the highest speed of my samsung evo 860 ssd? or do i just need a better connection? Ive also ordered an asus sata 3 data cable 6gbps to connect the new ssd would that make everything okay or am i fucked and need to upgrade my motherboard to utilize the sata 3 cable and ssd speed?

Attached: 1458276851397.jpg (520x416, 36K)

I knew it would come to this bastard is already 6+ years old anyway. Unfortunately the drive is so slow and I can't really access it anymore anytime I open a folder or file it really tries to read but its too damn slow. I have to accept that I've lost 1tb worth of data.
Will take note of this in the future. Thank you very much.

You can recover the data easy, just not from Windows.
You will need a program, or Linux from a USB.

Can you tell me the specifics? I want to try this before I scrap the hard drive.

Also another HDD to pass the data, unless you have a USB big enough to recover what you need.

Windows is slow because its on a damage drived, its not the drive that is making the stuff open slowly, accessing it from a different OS will let you recover stuff properly.

Do you have another computer around?
In the damaged HDD are you using Windows 7 or 10?

The most easy way is to create a Linux USB.
Linux Mint cinnamon is pretty much linux for retard so you wont need any knowledge about Linux to use it, you literally put in a USB using rufus, start from it and access the HDD and look for the files you need.

I have another computer. Used this on a Win10

Thank you.

In the second computer.
Download the Linux Mint cinnamon x64 iso (linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=254).
Download Rufus.
Use a USB to create a bootable USB, this way you don't have to install anything and Linux will be run from the USB instead the HDD.

Or you could plug in the HDD in your second computer if you have a extra SATA cable around.

Will try the linux one.

Already tried plugging in the HDD in my other computer and the same thing happens. Too slow to read or access it. But the drive is recognized. Checked in task manager active time is at 100% and the read/write is at 0% constantly. I'm 80% sure this is the HDD problem not the windows/software

my cat knocked my external off my desk and it's fucked, it shows up as just Local Disk (D:), I have 1TB of music I really don't want to redownload on it, I've tried fucking 10 or so recovery/cloning tools and none of them work because they just freeze up like dumbasses the second my external is connected because they can't read it (wow you'd think a program for recovering from dying/dead HDDs would be able to do that)

what kind of software will actually work to just clone the dumb fucker over to my other hdd.
I'm on windows and i really don't want any boot linux shit

sorry I'm insufferable atm i'm just really annoyed

I need to replace the broken glass on my Galaxy S4 smartphone. The top search result on eBay for an official replacement digitizer is €70. But an identical one from China is €23.

What in God's name could warrent such a difference in price? Are unofficial digitizers any good?

Attached: Screenshot_2018-08-20-10-25-09.png (1080x1920, 362K)

Will I get any advantage of using a Freesync monitor if I have a Nvidia card? Or should I just go for the monitor that doesn't have it? The price difference is 50€ so it's not negligible.

Attached: 1362960884713.png (499x322, 28K)

See
Other than Testdisk photoreq option there is not a big amount of choices for such cases.
Windows doesn't handle HDD failures well.

Run crystaldiskinfo and check your smart data, its sounds like it is physically damaged and beyond repair

The lack of glue, that its not gorilla glass but simple glass, and that the Chinese digitizer might have some insane latency and horrible accuracy.

Also change the screen instead the digitizer or deal with it, you have to be really experienced to change the glass of a phone because there is a stupidly huge chance of breaking the display while removing the glass, remember this glass is directly touching the display, also using a heatgun might damage it.

It's a hardware defect and the internal parts got damaged. From a similar personal experience you are fucked. Software will do no good due to reading/writing problems based on your description. No use accessing it since everything will freeze.
Worst case is you can diagnose it from a professional and will advise you the cost of recovering everything (depending on the damage) is very very high and I would rather personally accept it and buy another one.

or try this one

>you'll probably be kicking yourself when it comes to package management
what do you mean

Im reading some article thats saying fire TVs are vulnerable to some crypto mining malware called ADB Miner. Would disabling ADB debugging like it says stop the malware from infecting the Fire TV or should I just forget about the Fire TV and get an Android TV or something else?

Was planning on installing Kodi on one of those to stream from my computer to TV.
