having a proper OS

That's not a problem, mpv shill.

The screen tearing you have is most likely a conflict with your DE or compositor. If you're on windows use d3d11 or vulkan. If you're on Mac... idk anything about it.
But you once you get that sorted you should check out video-sync=display-resample

you'll need to adjust the settings for your compositor to prevent screen tearing (KDE=kwin, GNOME=mutter, silly wm = compton, etc).

here's some ideas for settings to try

MPV is not responsible for that...fix your system.

>dropped .ass in mpv
>doesn't load it
What a shit software.

Mpv shills will say this is something that makes mpv BETTER.

What happen to wm4's auto-profiles github.com/wm4/mpv-scripts/blob/master/auto-profiles.lua

They're missing!?! I loved those.

mpc-be OP

When I enable video-sync=display-resample it drops a frame every few seconds. I have powerful hardware so that's not an issue. Anyone have this problem?

What OS? Do you have proper drivers? Describe the files this happens with (if it is specific). What are your other settings?

Installing VLC :^)

mind telling on what os?

press f

Win10.

Drivers are all up to date.

A file it will drop frames on is;
Harry.Potter.and.the.Deathly.Hallows.Part.2.2011.1080p.BluRay.DTS.x264-HiDt.mkv

Not sure what triggers it since smaller files or even large remuxes will be fine.

Settings are purely video-sync=display-resample

If it only happens with that one file, it may be damaged or just weird (variable framerate?). Try
hwdec=auto-copy
priority=realtime
to see if it gets any better. Also press shift + i to bring up the stats and show me what both pages say. You can switch between pages with 1 and 2.

yeah, run this command
> sudo apt get potplayer

There are so many things wrong with this post I'm not even sure where to begin.

Will a GTX 1050 be able to handle the gpu-hq profile with no dropped frames?

The file is fine, works in other media players and have had the same issues with similar files.

Adding those options didn't improve it.

Hopefully the picture gives you a bit more information.

So what player do you use?

>The file is fine, works in other media players
Then why are you using mpv?

What about
audio=no

I also suggest you try
vo=gpu
gpu-context=d3d11

and check out other contexts like angle and dxinterop . Trying vulkan with
gpu-api=vulkan
gpu-context=winvk

might net you better results (I've never tried W10).

>its contents can be viewed with --show-profile=gpu-hq.
Yeah, I wouldn't say it's that intensive. You will probably want different scalers and whatnot, but it's a fine starting point.

I've had to bind scipts to mouse buttons to turn compositors off and on to make this shit work all the way back in mplayer2 days. Shit hasn't gotten better.
100% of the system can avoid screen tearing with compton, but not mpv.

The player is not at fault, get compton

Will try these out tomorrow.
Thanks for the help bud :)

mpv manual lies. I have tearing with any vulkan-swap-mode on linux except immediate, but it says immediate is tearing...

install nvidia-settings, you can fix it with a command
