I’ll start...

1920x1080, 60Hz
2500k/GTX 970
Overwatch, Chrome, VLC
2: A higher refresh rate is kinda appealing but not worth the money

2x 1080p 60hz
Rx480 4gb / Ryzen 1700 @3.8ghz 25c with noctura d15
Aida64, yakuza 0, waterfox. Hard to say really though. Dual boot mint and w10

Has the custom pc market platoed? Does anyone truly *need* an upgrade anymore?

No plans to upgrade anything soon. New nvidia gpus are probably a sidegrade and my cpu is fine.

what do you recommend then?

FX 6300 + 4x 2GB DDR3 1600mhz + GTX 750

Planning to get a Strix GTX 960 4GB tomorrow.

No need to upgrade for a while

1080p, 60hz
1600x/970
Vermintide2, Chrome, VLC
Sometimes I whish I had a gsync monitor, but it would literally worth 3x what my gpus worth is, and that makes me feel like it would be a waste of my money

4: want to move up to the qhd meme, but in 16:10. unfortunately this does not exist. that being said will probably move to zen 2 next year

>1920x1080 (x2) @60hz

I really want a less shit CPU and maybe more RAM (8gb currently).

qhd 16:10 in IPS at an affordable price**

My gpu isn't strong enough for my monitor obviously, for the games I play it's doing alright.
Feel like I could grab a cheap 1080 or 1080 ti for cheap, but I feel like the 1600 will bottleneck it.

I have a gsync monitor and it's not worth it, I don't even have it turned on. As long as you're keeping framerates about 60 it's unnecessary.

I'd like newer cases to actually have 5.25 bays

Not as cool as my case

Good to know, thanks.

I like my mATX better :3

1920x1080 60hz
Some cheap ass 4:3 monitor
6700k + 970
Various steam games, vmware, packet tracer
5: didnt know id need more cores or want 1440p 144hz monitor when i built it, also wanna learn blender and live stream tournaments again

I recommend you don't consider a 20 series card that's far outpaced by the former 10 series option.

that bottleneck is terrible. I feel for you.

But I have ATX in much the same size package.

I still have a i5-4690 non-K, will it be nothing but improvements all around if I go to a 2600X?

6: approaching eight years on this thing. Might think about replacing it if prices do come down next year.

>1080p/60hz

Probably an 7 or 8 for me. I really want to get a better monitor, but if I do that then my old-ass system will feel even worse than it does now, so I have to upgrade that shit as well. It's still mostly fine for 1080p but for my goal of 1440p and 120Hz+ it's def not going to be so great.

This is true. Now that you mention it, I dont remember why I went with the A04B at the time. They are both very good looking cases. Whats your model number?

Upgrade Desire 4/10
I'd like a bigger/better monitor, maybe Ryzen for muh rendering and modelling, but not at the prices people want me to pay.

Don't really give many fucks about >60Hz, 4K, or HDR, just want a roomier maybe 1440p panel with a nice IPS or VA panel and accurate color.

>1440p/60hz
>8700k/1080Ti
>Video games, Lightroom, Chrome
I like my current 27" IPS monitor a lot, but I want a big ass monitor. Like 32" or more. Probably still a 16:9 flat panel, I'm still not super convinced on ultrawided or curved screens. I guess if I'm going that big it should probably be 4K, but I don't really care a whole lot for higher refresh rates or HDR or stuff like that.

My 5yo 780ti died so I need a new GPU asap but I'm waiting for gaytracing 2080ti benchmarks and 1080ti prices to drop so I can decide which one to buy

desire is pretty low atm, could do with a new case with better airflow i guess

I kinda want to downscale to a mini-itx box or a smaller case that I can hide away behind the desk but there aren't any actually good x470 motherboards and not a good selection of plain, utility focused cases unless I pay like $200 for a memecase m1. Everything else is basically mATX sized

Recently saw an image of a prototype chassis in which a mobo and gpu were conventionally mounted to each other, but the cpu and gpu shared a single heatsink.

Can't remember who made it, but a silent system is definitely my next upgrade.

>i5 6600 / GTX 1060

I kinda want to upgrade to an i7 7700k, or perhaps an 8th gen cpu + mobo that supports it, and also two more 8 GB ram sticks

what I have right now works fine tho, so they're low priority purchases

Don't waste too much time deciding/waiting on hardware purchase, the potential $100 dollar return when you sell it 5 years later or 5% marginal performance gain in specific cases are absolutely NOT WORTH having yourself stressed over piles of data.

t. spent an entire month deciding between 1080 or 1080ti

I'd like a better monitor, preferably 1440p with a better refresh rate.

I kinda regret going for the 8400 instead of the 8600K. I'll probably end up swapping it in the future or go better with the i7-8700K.

I'm also gonna wait a while to upgrade my GPU because what I have is fine for my purposes. Probably the 2080.

My goal is to re-evaluate in the second half of 2019, looking to build a dedicated computing box with a 2990wx (or whatever Zen2/Zen3 bring) + a midrange AMD GPU.

Single core won't change much, maybe 5-10% at most. multi core will basically double due to the extra cores and threads.

The question is, will you benefit from those extra resources or not?

Fastest everything

7: I can't quite get 4K 60FPS in all games and for the future I'd like 4K 144FPS when monitors are less insanely priced. Need more GPU horsepower for that. CPU is also getting a bit old, 4C/8T Haswell is still fine-ish for me but it's starting to show its limits in certain cases. Would've upgraded but I haven't been happy with what's available.

How loud is that user? Is it placed right beside your screen?

10: 1440p honitor, really want to step up the game.
5: 1080ti, will pair nicely with a 1440p/144Hz monitor.
2: AIO, just want to see whether it can improve my temp.

I post here and there

>absolutely NOT WORTH having yourself stressed over piles of data
True, but I'm not stressed at all, I'm not that attached/addicted to gaymen so I just need to see the benchmarks and compare the two to see which one is best for me since I don't upgrade often as you can tell from the specs I mentioned, just need to know if the gaytracing 2080ti performance bump and thermals (I live in a hot as hell shithole so it's very important for me) are worth the 1100$+, If not then I'll just buy a 1080ti and call it a day.

We still haven't seen any benchmarks to claim that, faggot

My gpu is starting to fail after 3 years and I need a replacement, I'm probably gonna upgrade to a 144Hz monitor sometime next year so I was thinking about a 1070 or possibly try and wait for a pricedrop on vega, would the i5 be a significant bottleneck in those cases?

7/10 Better CPU with 8 physical cores, high STP and TSX or equivalent, looking at the new intel stuff but really would rather not go with them but AMD will likely not have a TSX replacement either in Zen 2 so on hold even if I really want it soon
5/10 dedicated sound card / DAC preferably something with wasapi exclusive support and low delay for muh A/V sync
2/10 Better GPU, maybe a 2070 if I can sell my 1070 for a good enough price, probably jsut gonna wait for 7nm stuff, AMD is totally out of the question since no decent OGL support
