About USB cables, she means that there is a USB device hidden inside the connector, like a tiny USB drive which has it's firmware reprogrammed to act as a keyboard. People have made cables like this before.

That those things exist, and you can buy them specifically for their advertised purpose (that is, spying on innocents), or that random charger and cables you'd buy of amazon or get with your USB device spy on you?
If the first, who cares, spy devices have been on the market since forever, if the second, yeah, she's onto something, but why would anyone want to add another spy device onto your spy device? Your phone can already do all of that and more, plus, it has a cellphone/wifi connection to send that stuff away. I doubt that any of those charger have an inbuilt cellular modem (and a mobile contract to go with them, to actually send out shit) or can crack WPA to phone home.
What I personally am paranoid about about, is USB wall plugs/public chargers. Whos' guaranteeing me that those don't try to run an exploit via USB towards my phone, or simply siphon off all my stuff from my SD card?
