What did they mean by this?

You know it.

Ryzen 2 is good shit

RyZen+. RyZen 2 is not out earlier than early 2019, and end of 2018 is 7nm Epyc 2.

Burning all Jewish settlements down and sending all kikes back to Babylon. The only way it was meant to be.

Ryzen 2 is 2xxx, you are thinking of zen 2.

2xxx is RyZen+, you dumb fuck.
Zen 2 is 3xxx.

Ryzen is the brand name
Zen is the microarch

It's not that hard

RyZen+ is Zen+, Zen 2 is RyZen 2, you DENSE fuck.
Go Google up THREADRIPPER, you DUMB fuck.
THREADRIPPER's FULL nomenclature is RyZen THREADRIPPER.
THREADRIPPER = RyZen.
THREADRIPPER+ = RyZen+.
THREADRIPPER+ = Zen+.
Zen+ = RyZen+ = THREADRIPPER+.

Intel is literally incinerating themselves desu

ryzen 2 000
zen +

zen1 = ryzen 1 = ryzen 1000
zen+ = ryzen 2 = ryzen 2000
zen2 = ryzen 3 = ryzen 3000
stop being retarded

off u're self

Stop being autistic

Zen+, 2xxx series, yes. NOT 2-nd generation, but INCREMENTAL, MINOR update. It's NOT a full sequel, just a MIDQUEL, 1.5 all the way.

NO.

Gen1 Zen = Ryzen = 1xxx.
Gen1 Zen+ = RyZen+ = 2xxx. A literal fucking DIE SHRINK OF SAME GEN. Very MINOR update, NOT a new gen. It's STILL FIRST GEN, NOT GEN2.
Gen2 Zen = RyZen 2 = 3xxx.
Gen2 Zen+ = RyZen 2+ = 4xxx.
Gen3 Zen = RyZen 3 = 5xxx.

Ryzen is a brand name
Zen is the microarch

What you describe as "RyZen" is simply the Zen iteration. They are two different terms, you fucking autist.

I'm not giving you anymore (You)s

Nice pasta, cocksucker. Kys.

This thread is fucking garbage.

All this board does is argue graphics cards when you can play most worth while games with a stock pc in lowest settings.

Back to /v/, goy.

>ryzen+
Every fucking thread. This guy must be a deep cover Intel deflection specialist or an autist.

>REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE STOP CALLING IT THE WAY IT ACTUALLY IS!
Off yourself, moron.

when is ryzen++?

There is only one + per each gen.
It's like tick-tock, but better. Tick is gen's introduction, then tock is refinement via +, then tick again with next gen's introduction and etc.
Zen+, and thus RyZen+ & THREADRIPPER+, are still gen1, just refined with node shrink and latency improvements/faster memory support. There is a reason why there's no Epyc+, because Epyc doesn't get in-between incremental improvement changes, but leaps straight from gen to gen (thus gen1 Epyc, gen 2 Epyc 2, gen3 Epyc 3 and etc).

Informative post, thanks.

>RyZen+
>THREADRIPPER+

There is no "RyZen+" or "Threadripper+", only the Ryzen 2000 (excluding Raven Ridge) and Threadripper 2000 series consisting of the refined Zen microarch, also called "Zen+".

You can read more about it here

en.wikichip.org/wiki/amd/microarchitectures/zen
en.wikichip.org/wiki/amd/microarchitectures/zen+

Ryzen/TR 1000 = Zen
Ryzen/TR 2000 (excluding Raven Ridge) = Zen+
Ryzen/TR 3000 = Probably going to be Zen2

There's no mention of "Ryzen+" in AMD sheets anywhere. Only Zen/Zen+ or "Ryzen 1/2nd Generation".

You're either pretending, or actually retarded.

RyZen 2xxx IS Zen+ and RyZen+, you DUMB fuck. And THREADRIPPER 2xxx IS RyZen, so it IS a RyZen+ too. Fucking neck yourself already, you ignorant uneducated POS.

Then post a source to back your claim up, faggot. The wikichip links in literally include official AMD sheets. You're just making shit up.

It's not a listing, you dumb DENSE fuck, it's just COMMON SENSE.

ryzen first gen is called ryzen 1
ryzen second gen is called ryzen 2
ryzen third gen is caller ryzen 3
just stop, you cockgobbling retard

>RyZen second gen is called RyZen 2
Yes. And the point is that Zen+ is NOT second gen. It's STILL first gen, just slightly refined due to 12nm.
It is YOU who is a retard here if you're treating Zen+ as second gen, which it's NOT.

Okay, one last time, to cover up confusion:

Ryzen - or Threadripper, respectively - is the brand name AMD sells their CPU with. It's similar to Intel's "Core i", in this regard.

This name is accompanied by a number. The first "middle" number is the segment that CPU resides in. Currently, for Ryzen, that is 3, 5 and 7 for entry level, midrange and high-end respectively. Threadripper skips that one entirely, although it still carries the "Ryzen" brand, so the "Threadripper" ("Ryzen Threadripper" instead of "Ryzen 3/5/7") technically replaces that - but this isn't part of the discussion anyway.

What this segmentation number is accompanied with is a model number. The first digit, most importantly, describing its generation. Ryzen 1000 had the first generation of Ryzen chips, 2000 the second, and so on. Usually this is also coupled with microarch improvements, although Raven Ridge is an exception to that - so far.

Zen is the name of AMD's microarch the Ryzen CPUs are based on. Zen+ is an minimally improved iteration of it.

There is no "Ryzen+" or "Threadripper+" mentioned or marketed on AMD sheets anywhere. What you are referring to is either the microarch iteration - Zen or Zen+ - or the specific series on the model number, such as Ryzen 2000 for the 2nd Generation Ryzen chips, for example.

That is not how it works. Zen+ had some distinctive cache improvements as well as memory controller adjustments, resulting also in a slightly higher IPC overall. They are not entirely the same.

With this logic, Zen2 would also be still "first generation Ryzen" because it will still base on that same Zen/Zen+ microarch. AMD calls it "2nd generation Ryzen" for a reason. RYZEN - as in the marketing brand - not ZEN.

Again, read the fucking papers en.wikichip.org/wiki/amd/microarchitectures/zen+

If you can find something else, be welcome to prove me wrong.

>That is not how it works.
That is EXACTLY how it works, you DENSE, REALITY-DENYING PIECE OF DUMB LAMER SHIT.
Zen+ is NOT gen2, Zen 2 is going to be gen2, Zen+ is STILL gen1, BOTH Zen and Zen+ are gen1, Zen+ is a TOCK of gen1 Zen.

You're throwing marketing terms and code/arch names together.

Ryzen 2000 are the second generation of Ryzen chips. Ryzen is the brand name.

Zen is the microarch name.

Zen+ is indeed just a sidestep from the standard Zen, but that doesn't change the fact it still received some improvements. Whether or not they count as "next generation" can be debatable, specifically with compiler flags being the same on both Zen and Zen+.

Nonetheless, it has absolutely nothing to do with the marketing term that is Ryzen. Zen2 will (probably) pose the third generation of Ryzen chips, because that is how AMD is going to market it.

Again, codenames =/= marketing names.

You're autistic, user.

Stop raging and post evidence that refutes his. I doubt you have it though since his is straight from AMD.
