Why aren't you using Manjaro?

Why aren't you using Manjaro?

Linux for desktop is painful enough without using a hobbyist level distro.

Antergos doesn't delay packages for no good reason.

updates destroyed my system

because i'm using arch.

Because it's dogshit

Attached: .png (472x270, 8K)

It's not Gentoo

I use Arch. Any installer for it is plain autism. Would be much better if they cooperated with Arch developers.

>derivative that's worth than its parent
>systemd
>non-free software
>there are better distros out there (thank god)

s/worth/worse

this

Kubuntu>*

Because i use Neon

/thread

Artix is better choice but I don't like Arch anyways

that's not possible

I'm using antergos

Because I got tired of getting untested packages 2 weeks late so I switched to antergos

I have no complaints about my current distro hans

Because fucking AUR, man

Attached: angerybart.png (320x388, 123K)

I honestly think the only distros that should be used are the biggest ones.

If you ask a question on a IRC support channel for a particular distro and don't get swarmed by 10+ people reiterating the same answer within a fifteen second timespan, you aren't using a good distribution of Linux.

In my experience, "big ones" include Debian and Ubuntu. I'm honestly not sure how big (if not bigger) the likes of Arch, Mint, or Fedora are compared to them, but I'm pretty certain they match my description of what a big distro community is like (tons of people there to answer questions.) Small distros aren't so readily helpful and I think it speaks volumes about what kind of distro they are, they're obscure and will inevitably fade away in a few years.

Just say Ubuntu. The pre-installed DE isn't that important.

Too lazy to reconfigure my files/softwares all over again.

What's wrong with AUR?

I have >60 iq, most of your Manjaro faggots cannot say the same according to what I see from you retards in fglt.

Because I'm using Solus.

>Solus.
fag

because I'm using gentoo

why does solus get such a bad rap around here?

Fuck off, Kevin

If I was going to use Arch, I would just fucking use Arch; which I am.

Why do you use Arch?

Nice package manager.
Bleeding edge packages which I use for development.
Systemd (this is a good thing).
"Minimal", but not the point of being autistic.

Systemd is a NSA Botnet
>And it's a (((good))) thing, here's why.

Nice memes, fuckface.

This but unironically
It's fast and just werks, doesn't distract me from work

Because it's literally dogshit

What do you use?

I'm on Arch because I don't want bloat, but Manjaro isn't bad. Archfags are just salty that Arch is becoming accessible

I don't care about accessibility.
I just think "downstream distros" are a complete waste of time.

You are dogshit

>I'm on Arch because I don't want bloat
1 arch package equals to 4-5 packages in any sane distro

Oh no! My packages installed a few C headers and pkg-config definitions.
Such a travesty.

because it's a hobby distro /meaning created and maintained as a hobby/ and is used predominantly by teenagers

>Debian and Ubuntu
those had atrocious video cpu usage ime
even manjaro is better because at least when it works it works

>Bleeding edge packages
ok that's a meme, it's only that if you enable testing which you probably won't
packages are upstream

>Bleeding edge packages
ok that's a meme, it's only that if you enable testing which you probably won't
packages are upstream

>Minimal
that's also a meme unless you mean it doesn't come with anything pre installed otherwise it's as bloated as they come

>minimal
Found the retarded arch mongrel

that's the main difference between most gnu/linux distributions though?

>ok that's a meme, it's only that if you enable testing which you probably won't
It's not running from git levels of bleeding edge, but packages are usually updated in less than a month after an upstream release, which is fine.
It's not lagging 4-5 years behind like Debian.
I'm a software developer, and the area of software I work in progresses very quickly. Having up-to-date libraries and kernels is a must.

I'm aware that you certainly can get a lot more minimal than Arch (hence the scare quotes), but it's nice not having 500 "recommended" packages installed by default when you only wanted one thing.
Also, fracturing your packages massively does not make a distro more minimal. At best, you're just removing maybe a few header files and other small developer-related things, which I actually want to keep.

because ubuntu and fedora are better for desktop usage

There's malware in it since they don't check it properly.

i think saying something is bleeding edge when in reality it's just release edge is just a nice way of not saying that debian is obsolete

>no blur
??????

I'm not german, and I like Haiku better.
>Steam Proton Exists
Wow, why do people still use this argument?

What is systemd and why does everyone hate it

Because Gentoo is so much better

systemd is a project providing several low-level components for building a Linux userspace.
It may also refer specifically to the service manger of the project, which is originally started off as.

It's actually quite nice.

no retard, most distros ships with any DE or none at all

it's a program that tells what should start up and in what order (or parallel) after boot.

>what is choosing my drivers

Because I'm using macOS

Attached: Screen Shot 2018-08-23 at 8.41.51 AM.png (2880x1800, 3.69M)

I love Solus.

Attached: Solus.png (1920x1080, 1.3M)

>muh look at me, I'm clever than you because I install distros in command mode

Is that discord? What's the best option for tech-related forums, IRC or discord? I want to get into this kind of stuff, I'm growing tired of reddit

Yeah it's Discord. I would recommend it over irc for tech related things desu. It has voice channels and other stuff that irc just doesn't have.

Because Xubuntu and puppy are better.

Because steam proton doesn't work well yet.

fucks sake Kevin
I thought you offed yourself already.

I do and I'm very happy with it so far.

Attached: memejaro.png (839x547, 372K)

so what's the ultimate "just werks" Linux distro?

Ubuntu (and DE flavors), Debian, OpenSUSE, Manjaro.

>> command mode
How long have you been autistic

it was always the same in the last 10 years: ubuntu

Windows

ye-ye i had the driver and the firmware and still was ass compared to what i had before on the same pc

>gay

nice distro. terrible logo. they were called out for being the nine-inch-nails logo but flipped a while back but did nothing about it.

Attached: artisresistance.jpg (492x402, 34K)

I actually somewhat like the logo (and NIN). Distro logos are generally terrible though, Manjaro being slightly above the average.

this, why even bother with anything elese

Arch would be much better if Arch developers weren't such assholes.

But fuck Shitjaro too.

Solus
