Still here. What i'm trying to do is to have everything recursively unzipped AND create a subfolder for each compressed file so to avoid filename conflicts. I got something for recursive unzipping, but it still doesn't work for the "create new subfolder so i don't have to deal with duplicate filenames"

I'm trying to run mpd as user, but I'm not sure that it's reading the config in my ~/.config/mpd/ directory, especially since trying a setting such as pid_file "~/.config/mpd/mpd.pid" in /etc/mpd.conf results in this complaint from systemctl status mpd: exception: failed to open log file "/var/lib/mpd/.config/mpd/mpd.log" (config line 9): No such file or directory
it almost seems like this fucker is misinterpreting ~, which explains both the error and why it's not reading my user specific configuration. how do I fix this?
Gavin Ortiz
Posting it here, since the old thread is pretty much dead.
>old i3-2350m/HD3000 HP laptop >fan is loud af if cpu temps gets high >4gb ram
I want a pretty user interface, but i do want distro that keeps my cpu usage as low as possible when browsing. What should i do? Been using deepin for a few days, but i'm ready to move on to something more lightweight. Lxde? xfce? mate? which one is can be costumized as much as possible?
I'm new to Linux as a whole, going to start with Ubuntu because am baby. Is there a /fglt/-style DE list? I was mostly wondering what the differences, advantages, disadvantages, etc. were in using X DE over Y DE.

Does anyone know of a linux program that works and looks kind of like this? online-stopwatch.com/interval-timer/ I need something with a gui timer that counts down from a certain interval and then automatically restarts.
Are there any PS/2 Cherry MX Blue keyboards? Are there any good X370/X470 AM4 motherboards with PS/2? Is there any reason to use PS/2 anymore as a regular consumer?

Where can i find info on more obscure hardware from known brands? I recently found a nokia internet radio, and i mean an actual physical device, not the symbian app, but my google-fu can't find any info on the thing. From what i can tell it's from 2009 but that's it.

I had the service enabled without the --user option, by disabling what I had and enabling this latter now it doesn't complain about ~ anymore. I get no sound anymore, but I'm happier to have this running as user now, if I fix the sound I should be done. thank you

Place I moved into offers internet as part of the contract, but only building wide wifi. I have access to a line, but I've got to wait for shit to get activated and this place doesn't get fucking fibre for 3-6 months so it'd be MAX 20Mbps, average 11Mbps, after the last place I was in got 100mbps.
So I'm going to get a wifi card for the desktop in the meanwhile. What sort of card should I get/need? Wifi is 60Mbps

Does systemctl --user status mpd
Have any information? Are you using alsa? pulse?

What Jow Forums app is everybody using on Android? Is clover broken?

just to conclude (and why not, maybe someone reading this in the archive is getting blueballed otherwise), I was getting no audio because of having set localhost as server, removing that sound working, and I got what I was trying to accomplish by running as user, which is being able to play mpd together with other audio sources. all is good, thank you again my man

Works on my machine :^)

To illustrate. Obviously if a subfolder has in turn a subfolder of it's own the program must be able to find it.
"Business grade" internet connections work the same way as "home grade" internet connections right? The ISP runs a fiber cable and gives you a modem and you use your own router right?
>mess around with NvidiaInspector settings on RainbowSix Siege >come across this The fuck is that? Are some chinese using my card to mine bitcoin while I play siege? Would explain why the game runs like ass.
So, I've been using a Zowie XL2411 since about April and everything was fine until about 2 months ago, I woke my PC and realised my display kind of lost color precision, if you know what I mean. A lot of colour banding and terrible gradients. Now I know TN panels are not great for colour accuracy, but this problem happened overnight, colour banding was not that bad in my first weeks of use as it is now. And now a thin gray line appeared on my screen, it's really subtle but it definitely can be noticed when it's displaying gradients of gray, red or black. Pic related. The line is mostly gone under HDMI 60hz, but it's very noticeable on DVI-D 144hz.
Do any of you guys have had problems with this monitor? I feel like this panel is very bad quality, even my cheap old LG panel seemed better. Should I RMA it? Sorry for any grammar errors, english is not my first language.
How can i listen to spotify on linux without spending 400mb of ram into their shitty app?

Trying to build chromium. Getting stuck on the dom distiller having a name error with 'unicode not defined' Its set as 'default_value="utf-8". Im not going to use the dom distiller but i cannot find a build flag that would disable it.All im finding is a switch to disable it with the binary.

Would GPU artifacts ALWAYS be visible on a screenshot? My GPU gone bad and OS won't load with drivers installed + green stripes on the screen. But there are no artifacts present on the screenshots. Is this normal?

I start my computer engineering course in the fall and my college has listed specs for laptops,
Intel Core i5 or equivalent processor Minimum 16 GB of RAM ** 1TB or larger HD ** 12 inch screen or larger** At least 1 full size USB port USB 3.0 ** Wired ethernet port ** Wireless ethernet 2.4Ghz/5Ghz ** Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 **
The ones with asterisks are required. Do I really need 16gb ram or will 12gb do fine. Apparently it's because we run 3vms at once or some shit. I'm poor and am not paying extra for 16gb
Logan Evans
You don't. It's working.
Christopher Clark

Buy cheap thermal paste and isopropol alchohol online, look up how to open up that model of laptop and remove the old and dry paste and apply new paste. Whilst you're at it remove any dust and filth with compressed air.
Colton Ortiz
Already done that sometime ago, 1 year ago, maybe. Maybe its time again? I dont remember and i dont find anywhere whats is a good temp for idle and load on this laptop. Mine is averaging 50-70 while only browsing chans and if i load some youtube html5 video, it goes to 85.
Thomas King
>Would GPU artifacts ALWAYS be visible on a screenshot? not necessarily, it depends on whether the screen contents need to be fetched from the gpu or not non-accelerated content is drawn by the cpu into a main-memory buffer, which is pushed to the gpu. screenshots of this just copy from this main-memory buffer, not involving the gpu at all. think about how things like VNC or headless servers work, you can have a framebuffer without a gpu at all things that are accelerated, like 3D graphics or video, may appear corrupt in screenshots, as the screen contents are processed by the gpu onto the framebuffer which is on it's own video memory, to screenshot that, the cpu needs to fetch the content from the gpu
it also depends on what the artifacts are caused by, it's possible they're 'added' somewhere 'after' the gpu's framebuffer, like during scanout, in the crtc (display interface), over the display cable, or simply in the display itself

My thinkpad t440p likes to randomly power off like once a day. Whats the reason? I bought it just few months ago so i am pretty scarred Jow Forums. I have laptop on both cord and batery. Second laptop is also plugged maybe thats because? There is no "electricity" for both devices? Brainlet here, maybe i should disable some BIOS settings?
Go to Newegg, buy a used Dell Latitude with a second gen i5 or i7. Verify that the processor has the vt instructions Seton the Intel Ark site. Buy 16GB of DDR3 laptop ram. There, I saved you a thousand dollars, faggot.

How do i fix this? There is no "buildkit" available for my system. /usr/bin/python: No module named buildkit"
Gavin Barnes
Thanks. I'm pretty sure my GPU core is dying because it goes back to normal if I heat it up. Just curious about the screenshot thing since google led me to believe those are always visible. I can't see any artifacts anywhere on the screenshots, doesn't matter if I play a video in mpv or a browser. And something like Furmark obviously doesn't work with the default Microsoft display adapter drivers.
Logan Taylor

windows 10, please dont meme i have linux on second computer what do you mean?
It might be bad ram or hdd/ssd. Try different ram sticks and boot drives. Otherwise might be a setting in the os or bios, so reset bios settings, change ram and try a different os on another drive.(Do these things one after another and not at once.)
Jason Gutierrez
if you're using basic unaccellerated drivers, then you won't get any artifacts in screenshots, as everything is being processed on the cpu artifacts added by the gpu only affect things processed on the gpu
Bentley Price
i searched previous thread for "battery" - one occurence and not relevant to me
Jason Mitchell
Oh, I see, thanks. Can't really test it with the drivers since the system won't load with drivers installed.
Ryder Lee
stuff like that generally isn't repairable, and tricks like baking your gpu are temporary at best time for a new graphics card
