You are wrong.
The term imageboard refers to the board itself, not the website (or BBS section of the website) the imageboard is run on.
This is mainly because the very traditional imageboard site has every board run a separate CGI script. This way every board can run entirely different code from each other, or even run on different servers.
You'll notice that the subforum the imageboards are under on Jow Forums is called boards.Jow Forums.org. not board.Jow Forums.org. You might remember Jow Forums having textboards, which are not imageboards. Also, the script that loads the pages on Jow Forums is called imageboard.php, you can still use it in some ways, for example finding a post with a certain post number without quoting it in a post. Every board has its own imageboard.php.
Also, you can call a website that only has imageboards on it an imageboard nowadays.

Imageboards are a type of forums though. But, calling a board a subforum is wrong, as a subforum is a forum inside another forum or a forum section.
You may have a forum, with sections for tech and games, and the tech section might have a subforum for tech support, rather than being divided into tech/support and tech/other forum sections.

Also, the utility of imageboards goes at times beyond forums. I've seen imageboards where only the admin can post threads, images or bump as blogs, for example. Readers can comment, but not do much else.

agreed :)

Do you mean Subreddit as in a board in reddit, or sub-reddit as in sub-human

Jow Forums its hell and every subreddit is like a society were people share knowledge, memes and frog pictures. Pol being the deepest layer of the abyss with some moot guy chained with three traitors held in his mouth.

subreddit of a sub-reddit

guys we've got a hothead here

It's a hyperboard

It's weird to translate "imageboard" to most Romance languages so I just say forum

So we're on the Jow Forums imageboard and Jow Forums is a forum?

unless you are writing an article for a newspaper so normies can understand, there's no need to translate

It's a cell phone videogames discussion
