Remember when Youtube and Google actually allowed you to find new shit, instead of deciding shit for you?
Remember when you could fucking order by a variety of different values in Youtube search and Google allowed you to fine-tune your search with operators instead of forcing you to use quotation marks just so that it doesn't erase the MOST IMPORTANT CHUNK OF YOUR SEARCH from the results?

NO I DON'T WANT TO KNOW HOW A CABLE WORKS. I WANT TO KNOW HOW A SERIAL CABLE IS SET UP SO THAT I CAN REPAIR IT.

the real fucked up thing about youtube are the discovery and recommendation algorithms not how it looks

Use bitchute instead of YouTube.

There are Firefox add-ons for hide/block entire channels of search. And you can use Newpipe in mobiles.

>Not wanting to know how a cable works
>Can't even repair a serial cable
brainlet.

No can do friend. We've determined based on your history and millions of data points that this in fact what you want. You want to understand the cable not repair it. Why would you want to repair it when you can but a shiney new one anyhow? We've even conveniently choose the right ads for you so you can buy your new cable. Buy a new cable, come on now, it's better to spend then it is to mend after all.

Block their ads.
Don't give them money.
Use Newpipe on Android.
Convince other people to do these things.

Web 2.0 was a mistake

Attached: youtube.jpg (1436x674, 218K)

does this mean I'll finally stop seeing a front page that's 90% cancerous music from 13 year old girls singing about breaking up and niggers rapping about Gucci?

Remember video replies?

Stop featuring news channels and producers on the front page.

there is a good side about youtube: a lot of tutorials and really smart videos. So until they exist I don't care.

Yeah. Some of my first videos were video-replies. I even got 700 views on one of them!

the internet was supposed to help and connect us.. not become an unsiftable privacy mess

Create a viable competitor.

Video as a medium was a mistake. It was a mistake in the analog world with television, and its a mistake in the digital world with youtube. Its expensive and time-consuming enough to produce, to store, and to transmit, that the only viable funding model is advertising, and the only viable strategy is to aim at the very lowest-common-denominator viewer.

Youtube was always going to be shit. If you replace it with another video platform, it's going to go down the same path that youtube did. You can't have a video platform and not have this kind of bullshit, it isn't possible.

As long as you can get the link what's wrong? Is the layout more important than the content?

Attached: Clipboard01.png (2688x1460, 3.49M)

The suggested videos are pretty good if you remove the shit you didn't want to see from your history.

Nobody can compete with Google's infrastructure unless the customer is willing to pay for it. Most of the others die/have died (remember Stage6?) or are only viable as a premium service. Having Jews in charged is the price you pay for a "free" service.

We don't. Video hosting is perfectly possible on any server, you don't need Youtube or any other "platform" for it. If you want the """social network""" features of it, you should begin by killing yourself, and only thereafter checking out ActivityPub instead.

Attached: Capture.png (1321x1051, 1.57M)

Unless Google dies, there is no way any video site can compete with Youtube.

It's dead either you know some videos or uploadres by name or else it's just like a garbagecan full of shit emptied over your face.

What about informative video? It's a better format for a lot of things than simple diagrams and text, since it allows to show concepts in motion, while supporting both visual and auditory learning.

Twelve years later and no relevant features were added, just noise.

>4k
>8k
>60fps
>the ability to ingest anything
>16:9
>useful recommendations

That doesn't change the incentives of the platform at all. Who's gonna make informative tutorial videos? Some sysadmin who knows his shit, who can type faster than he can talk, and who knows you can read faster than he can talk? He probably knows that you value the searchability and skimmability of text, so you can find the information you need faster. Or LinusTechTips shills and bottom-feeding pajeets who crank out "content" as quickly as they can to harvest some ad money from whatever morons they can get to watch? Its a modern repeat of what happened to television. Sure its possible to make a thoughtful history documentary that uses animated maps to show you how the forces moved at the Battle of Wherever, much better than a book could. But that's a.) harder to make and b.) gets less viewers than Cheap Sitcom #597. The ad-funded nature of it, and the need to aim for the largest audience to maximize revenue and recoup costs, gives you every financial incentive to produce crap rather than informative stuff.

The bad drives out the good on a video platform.

The recommendations suck and just show you shit you've already seen
The other things listed are NOT features but qualities of the uploaded video files

not OP but you get the point

Youtube transcodes every upload. The ability to view 4k, 8k, 60fps, and ingest 10bit, HEVC, 5.1, 7.1, are all features.

We make our own YouTube, with blackjack and hookers.

I wouldn't call each of those a feature, but being able to select video quality is a feature.

When users pushed out videos for entertainment only, and not for a money making business.

In my Firefox Quantum, video comments do not load anymore, just in another browser. Waiting for an update to recover it.

Trending is cancer. You have to subject to the botnet for recommendations to have any merit. When I never subscribed it basically went off my recent watched vids so if I watched a bunch of top 10 shit I start getting clickbait crap. If I watched a bunch of vids from gaskings because I thought his "dose of vtec" was funny I get a bunch of vids with people crashing while in vtec. When I started subscribing to the actual channels I give a shit about (alexonautos,scotty kilmer,eevblog,8bitguy,techmoan...) the recommendations stopped having any meme or clickbait shit. It was just decent information vids for tech heads.

be like and never subscribe or like a video ever, even since dial-up

What do you think videos should be used for?

its simple

// ==UserScript==
// @name YouTube Polymer Disable
// @match *://www.youtube.com/*
// @exclude *://www.youtube.com/embed/*
// @grant none
// @run-at document-start
// ==/UserScript==
var url = window.location.href;
if (url.indexOf("disable_polymer") === -1) {
if (url.indexOf("?") > 0) {
url += "&";
} else {
url += "?";
}
url += "disable_polymer=1";
window.location.href = url;
}

Are there third-party rec systems for YouTube?

Yes I do remember. Normies ruin everything. We should've never allowed them on our internet.

There is no fixing them. There is only exit.

We don't. We let it die.

Pornhub?
Or want Pornhub without BBC?

Based and redpilled, FPBP.
Youtube died a while ago, it will take a while for normies to realize that.

This guy mad that he can't make money off a video saying, Nigger.

I set my location as Greece.
Now both suggestions and ads are spoken in greek and written in greek, and advertise greek news or products.

Attached: Capture d’écran de 2018-08-25 17-25-14.png (729x710, 495K)

Are you Greek?

It doesn't rip videos from youtube anymore, it's just a different page wrapped around the official youtube player now. Meaning you still give juicy (you)s to google now.

For a while there was a substitute, cadence.gg or something, but they had it taken down in a few weeks too.

I'm still searching for an alternative when using
windows.

Kick out the entire fucking UX team and hire someone competent.

nevermind, the guy just changed the link from
cadence.gq/cloudtube/[video code]
to
cadence.gq/cloudtube/video/[video code]
and my script broke. Site is still up and running.
Otherwise I've seen now that there is also invidio.us/ that seems to work even better.

>forcing you to use quotation marks just so that it doesn't erase the MOST IMPORTANT CHUNK OF YOUR SEARCH from the results?

Even this does not work all the time anymore. Thanks RankBrain.

no

newpipe on android
hooktube on pc

Stop recommending hooktube
Hooktube is now dead, it embeds youtube and let it track your requests.

>Capture d’écran de 2018-0(...).png

I feel you user, you have to experience internet without having internet, disconnect your house from the internet, when you are at work or at a coffee download the important stuff to watch at home

if you have an alternative, feel free to let me know.

That's fine if you only like electronic technology, but youtube has been removing all gun related videos including helpful tutorials because they all promote firearm sales.

And yes, this is bad. Most people think that if it's not on youtube it doesn't exist.

literally 3 posts above your

We don't, but if I was (somehow) hired as CEO I would immediately add a feature to block videos and keywords and topics and channels and users you don't like (unless those channels had paid us a bucket of money to be unblockable/have a certain video promoted), possibly in the form of a browser extension that is advertsed on every page on the site if you don't have it, and as a feature in the mobile app. Then I'd drop all the censorship and pawn that responsibility off to a personal one in the terms of service. Porn still not allowed, better sites for that exist anyway. Development will focus on correctly categorizing and subcategorizing videos rather than pruning undesirable content. We'll even publish our own blocklists of undesirable content criteria so normies can make themselves safe from conflicting ideas without having to actually see said conflicting ideas.

Youtube hire me plz.

Okay. I did that. Now what?

First step to changing something at google is to be hired at Google. They often have openings, and if you're working there full time, you can perform what's called a "20%" project.

Assuming you're serious about it, and it's reasonable for you to go into the application process, best of luck

a lot of american youtubers are making non-english videos for get more audience. That videos are the same e-celebrities that US-youtube, but now in greek.

I don't understand why Google hasn't made Youtube's search better. It total pain in the ass to find something. Usually it's lot easier to go to Google and search with site:youtube.com prefix and use tools like time range.

most dumbest thing i've read in a long time

that's the problem, they fired all of the youtube staff and replaced them with rad left diversity hires that can't be fired, not even for being incapable of work. They are people that will never believe nor understand that what they are being told to create has negative consequences for the entire internet

They've already decided what they want you to see, so adding more search functionality would be a waste

Remove the trending tab and replace it with a menu dividing videos into their categories.
Then have each categorical section be sortable through popularity, key-word, rating, etc.
It might help remove the clickbait plague.

I actually am really impressed by their recommended algorithm though, it's improved so much in the past months.
If I'm watching a video with an obscure Linux distro install, I'll be recommended another obscure Linux distro install unlike a year ago where I'd be recommended some tech """"""reviewer's """""" channel on repeat.
But hey, I wouldn't expect them to know that I'd wanna watch a Devuan install after an Artix install anyway
