You clearly don't get the power behind it. I use it with my own hand made colourschemes, and literally everything is themed, from Qutebrowser to Zathura, vim, polybar, and everything in between.

You can edit most fonts in your Sgiresources file in your home directory. Or globally in /opt/MaXX/share/misc/HOME/Sgiresources. I'm not sure how you'd really go about changing the Toolchest fonts, since I've never tried to do it myself. The .Xdefaults may have done it.

The two of us who aren't OP are using MaXX, which is a Linux desktop environment that's a partial fork of the IRIX Interactive Desktop. IRIX was a 90s Unix distro that shipped with a custom window manager and other applications based on the Motif toolkit. Image related isn't mine but it is a real IRIX screenshot. You can't emulate IRIX currently, since SGI workstations used obscure and complex graphics boards and other odd system components that haven't been reverse engineered yet. MaXX is basically the next best thing.

Yeah dclock is lookin real nice compared to the analog one that was wrong. I think I'll just back up my configs and re-run the script since I just want that default font back for the toolchest and icons , etc.

It's all done with the script that runs on the -o flag. There's a python script for Qutebrowser (google it), and for Zathura, you just overwrite the config file importing the new colours. There's other tools to do Discord and Steam, for example. Really, there's tons of awesome things you can do with pywal.

I also use terminal.sexy to create my themes, and save them to JSON files. I then have a rofi script that I use as a theme switcher. I can go from gruvbox to solarized to any custom colourscheme system-wide within seconds.

I gotta run, but for those who were asking about Pywal, seriously give it a chance. It's like a big puzzle, so it can definitely take some work to put together, but it's worth it in the end if you like changing your colourschemes often. If you want to generate colours from a wallpaper, check out the other backends available. There are better ones than pywal's default. As for how to theme certain programs, just google the name of that app + pywal. For my wallpaper, I use hsetroot set to $background. There's tons of useful stuff on Jow Forumsunixporn too, and I'll be posting my full setup there sooner or later.

You used to be able to do it with Windows 8 and 8.1 with BBLean and some trickery, I should know I ran shit like that for years but because of how vital the explorer.exe shell process has become in Windows 10 replacing it with a third party shell like blackbox and its various forks becomes rather... Impractical to say the least

there was the whole process of trying to essentially bring back the old configs which only sucked on the mpd/ncmpcpp setup and the wm theme, the former which i still don't understand how it works; but it just does. color-wise, wal had a shittier scheme before i got around to dicking about with it--but i guess that's pretty much the way wal should work. it creates a template, and then the user dicks with the template to make it not-shit.
(though i will agree it still looks like ass.)

it's always going to look like ass, and the worst part is it's ass that only matches a single wallpaper and you have to gen a new ass color scheme every time you change it
make a good color scheme yourself and you can easily change to other walls that it goes well with instead of having to have a new one for each wallpaper

sometimes your desktops look good but it depends entirely on your wallpaper and its tiring to watch. the colourschemes being slaved to the wallpaper is boring and annoying and looks like shit half the time
