I enabled the pill (the new on screen virtual buttons) through build.prop because this early ROM version does not have the usual settings for disabling hardware buttons.

You don't really have to use the gestures, they aren't forced in any way and you can completely disable them (just change the launcher if you don't like the new home screen).

99.9% of apps work, including notifications. Not my fault you picked the ones that entirely depend on GCM without any fallbacks.

It's got nothing to do with whether an app is "properly coded" or not. It's about the app using GCM/FCM or not. Many apps have a self-hosted alternative because GCM/FCM is blocked in China.

Why does Android 9 look like absolute ass now? Battery and clock are on opposite ends of the screen, all the icons look like they were puked on by a candy factory, and the auto-on screen has centered text now as opposed to top-centered.
