Problem fixed in the latest GitHub version. If you got NewPipe through F-droid, you will need to uninstall it and install the apk from GitHub.

Hate how slow f-droid is, luckily I got Vanced if I need jewtube but rarely use it. Why can't f-droid work like magisk and grab the releases from github so everything is auto updated from the devs?

We already have multiple alternatives that are decentralized (solves issues of one person hosting all of it, solves issues of censorship, etc.)

Every so often, YouTube will change the ways videos are distributed to try and screw over alternative clients. Developers will find new ways around this shit, but it sometimes takes a day or two.
