You need exactly 1 of those in your house. each of those might also function as a dvr. Shits super expensive and still a rip off but why OP didnt get the little boxes in beyond me.

I have directv, service and install never had a problem with it, but I get it for free since i am an employee - that being said there is no fucking way I would ever pay for it since it all garbage content... all of it absolute shit, anyone who pays that much for teevee in current year is a sheep.

I don't have Comcast but basically these are DVRS/HD receivers. Normally you get one "main" box, and then each separate room is linked to it, or the service is shared, but say recording tv, you can only say recording 4 HD channels at one time, so people will get multiple "main" equipment for the house, especially if there's like more than 4 people in a household.

I had DirecTV and equipment was free, or you paid $10 per month for insurance and upgrade plan meaning if your hd main box (you got one main box, and each room got a networked mini receiver that ran off the main box, and each room got full functionality of the main box) broke, or if they released a better receiver/new features, you got it for free. So I paid $10 per month for insurance and 3mini receivers and one main box. That's cheaper than your "civilized" country. Also my isp gives me a modem free of charge, I can use my own, or if I don't want to buy a modem, they supply it for free.
