Ccleaner is a placebo effect, it does nothing.

What is BleachBit

That shit was good like 10 years ago.
Today it's just another botnet

5.43 is the last version before they sperged out (they don't even add new cleaner functions anymore)

When you install it, it will remain in the background to "monitor" your system. That alone is bad news. If you have to use it, uninstall it after you run it. You don't have to keep it installed.

windows 7 , 8 , 10 all clean themselves.

any cleaner/tuneup/maintenance software is snakeoil.

if you have windows 7 you may have to manually delete temp files every 6 to 12 months as its bad for that.

windows 7 and above are all potty trained.
I don't believe that for one second.

gentoo GNU/Linux

You don't need a cleaning tool but if you MUST have one use BleachBit

>can't maintain his OS without 3rd party software known to contain advanced 1st level payloads
>"I wipe my ass with licux, nerds."
Sure you do bud.

It's safe to use now. People say not to use the registry cleaner feature, but I do.

For those who don't know, their supply chain got compromised a few months ago (someone literally hacked into their company and production servers). They replaced an official version of CCleaner with a modified one that had two payloads. Security researchers still aren't exactly sure what the second payload does as it specifically targeted tech companies, and wouldn't run unless it confirmed you worked at a major F500 tech corp.

Some steam games such as CS:GO will still take a shit in very rare occasions, because CCleaner interferes with VAC and could trigger a warning.

> you don't need a cleaning tool
> recommends bleachbit, a program that proves why you need a cleaning tool
genius.

use bleachbit. it's open source and isn't cancer like ccleaner.

>They replaced an official version of CCleaner with a modified one
A few months ago? I remember it happening a couple of years ago too.

>Is CCleaner safe to use now
>now
Why wouldn't it be safe?

see

Okay so now that we've established that it's safe to use, why do you use it? Just to clear the cache or to wipe drives clean? Both can be done natively in Windows anyway.

It was actually almost *exactly* a year ago.

I like the startup feature for eliminating necessary programs that auto-start. I know windows has a built-in feature that does the same thing, but I like CCleaner's version better.

It also just does a nice job of cleaning up space. Many more options to select from and more thorough than the windows tool
