What a worthless thread. Almost every browser for each operating system has freeze listed.
Justin Harris
yes but linux has os-freeze for all chrome/chromium based browser while windows you can just kill the process through task manager. if a single application can completely freeze your OS it proves that it's absolute trash
Parker Murphy
>chrome/chromium Found the real problem kiddo.

All I see is another reason to use FF.

How do I get Firefox to freeze on Linux? I reverted to default settings and restarted without addons, yet when I try it everything keeps being responsive. One CPU thread is maxed out at 100%, but even with my Pentium T4400 this doesn't cause any problems.

about time the windows shillers / windows people fucked off to reddit. this is post terry had enough of this crap their shit marketing it originates from nobody wants to know about their failed OS
lmao kill yourself and take your server OS with you back to r/linux
Nathaniel Gray
I tried it with firefox and arch linux browser freeze opened up system info and can see that this tab is eating RAM, probably when it eats everything will crash meh, good thing I have 16GB so could end process without any hurry.
another solution would be to enter TTY and kill firefox I wonder, what would be alternative to TTY on linux for windows if OS suddenly froze :^)

this froze chrome but as you can see i still got a screenshot and htop working.
Using qutebrowser (QtWebEngine/Chromium backend) under GNU/Linux and for me it freezes the contents of all tabs until I restart the browser. The browser UI and the OS continue working normally.
Mason Walker
>to TTY on linux for windows task manager (ctrl+shit+esc) >so you just don't know how to change to another tty if the OS is actually frozen switching to a TTY won't work retard
Brody Diaz
>if OS freezes >oh, goy, just use task manager, lol TTY would work, nigger
Angel Davis
I run out of RAM kind of often and switching to TTY, logging in and kiling the process takes up to 20 minutes. I just want to kms at this point.
Lucas Cox
>not sshing into your box with your phone to kill lmao
>using Chrome on anything ever Firefox works just as well, assuming you aren't using Jewgle integration. Even so I use Google docs and work and I can sign and use it fine from Linux. So why are you using Chrome based trash?
I'm using Devuan (Debian without systemd) and it just works. All I have to do is press Ctrl+Alt+Backspace to terminate the X server. It shows the console login, so I enter my username and password. Then my desktop comes right back up. That's assuming I'm using Chrome (I'm not). If Firefox freezes I can just open up the task manager and kill the browser.
Gave me a lol.
