Opbp

You can't stop me, you fucking faggot.

I have one though. I wonder if I should put them to use.

Heh they are really shit desu

New yes, it's not worth 70$. Used and sold by some dummy as a whole system for 150$ it's a good buy

why user

I have 3 PCs at home with a FX-8320e. They're just fine.

What are you using them for?
I have a phenom 2, and an fx 8 core just collecting dust.

a 2200g is 100$ why would you buy obsolete platform in 2018

To stick it to glowinthedarkniggers.

they're fine for home servers or general desktop linux use. hell the 8350 is decent for a video encoding box.

what year is it?
I demand an answer
in the language of my people
in Fortran

Still using a 8350 @ 4.5ghz and a 970.

waiting for zen 2

1 is my server. 2 is my hardware diagnostics PC. 3 is my mom's desktop. She runs Arch Linux and does not know it. She uses it to to check her email, find recipes, and play shitty browser games. I can install updates remotely, and it's transparent to her.

I was thinking of running a server, and router myself, but I don't think the workloads would justify the power consumption.
I used the fx with tv tuners for a while, but had issues, so I just scrapped it again. Still it would be nice to put them to use again.

I thought it was a good purchase at the time, I was wrong.
>at least it still just werks

Attached: snip.jpg (383x327, 48K)

I use my old fx6300 as a shitposter toaster and for media, it's fine.

FX should be faster now, software and games are using avx and sse4.1 now.

Fuck you, I already did 5 years ago.

Works on my machine

They heavily rely on IPC and low latencies, both being the biggest downsides of the FX, so no.

But muh UD3

Attached: 20180501_143010.jpg (780x948, 693K)

I have that cpu, a 1070 ,16gb of ram and a 500gb ssd. My computer is really fast and stable. Not a single complaint. Will upgrade when it makes sense to.

have an fx8350
had it for years
its old faithful
ive found no reason to replace it

monster bottleneck watch about 2/3 of the way in where he compares a newer cpu to that old dinosaur you're pairing with a new gpu

I am not denying the bottleneck effect but I cant buy a whole new system atm and it works fine for the games I play.

Get it, user.

I’ve been running an 8350 for 6 years. No regrets.

FX6350 for 6 years owner here
It's not bad, but for some reason I'm tired of it
I want my workstation experience be more smooth
So I wait for Zen2

Attached: 2017-08-01_121254.png (825x561, 50K)

They can play bf1 mp stutter free wheres a i5 7500 can't

Bought it on 2013, it held way better than expected

Attached: bestbuy.jpg (639x575, 103K)

Still own a fx8350 and nothing really makes me need to upgrade yet.

your a good son

>only affordable mobo is a gigabyte 970
I have one, and it's been a tank. Actually still works, and I treat it like shit (just can't oc for shit though).

She's mentally handicapped and I can afford to leave if I want. I guess I am...

Still have one from years back. Just need a new case and a power supply and it would be good to go

why the fuck no? it is worth it if you're upgrading from an old phenom

>tfw you're the human equivalent of an 8350

Attached: 1519001022516.jpg (619x537, 27K)

I have a FX4300 I got for $65, and a 1G LP Radeon 6450 I got for $35. I've been using them for 2 years.
Perfectly suitable for everyday shitposting and ordinary computer shit. I've literally not tried to do one single thing with my PC where I felt like the performance wasn't where I want. I like my CPU/GPU combo even better because it only cost me $100. I don't play games, so I don't plan to upgrade either anytime in the forseeable future. I'm gonna get a nice fancy $40 SSD when I can be bothered.

My old FX8320 + R9 380X build is set up for my brother to play WoW. OC'd to 4.4GHz 1.36v, 65'c on an NH-D9L.
Chokes to 45fps in player heavy areas, but otherwise locked at 60fps.
Overclocked FX is still very capable for most people.

We all have an FX user. The second hand price was just too good to pass up.

Even to this day, those 59 dollar gigabyte 970 boards with an 8350 are still nice as fuck for the money, yes it bottlenecks an expensive 1070 but you would even bother with FX if you could afford a 1070 in the first place, people act as if it's bottlenecking budget video cards and it's not

Still no point in buying one new tho, and you're still probably better off buying a Ryzen 2200g over any second hand FX (unless it's so cheap that you can't say no).

>Still no point in buying one new tho
Of course unless you get it for really cheap. I was lucky enough to buy an 8 core for 80-90ish new, and used it to upgrade my mobo from a phenom 2. It lasted me for a few years (still works), and got me into computers for the most part. That + an hd7970 paid for itself from just the sheer use that I got out of it.

Drawbacks = mobo won't run over 3.6ghz, and ram would not run over 1600mhz even if rated for higher, and itw ouldn't play nice with everything.
Pros = Gaming at near 60fps most games (except BIS games), 10 bit color, had ecc udimms, and didn't need to upgrade for a long time since the build just soldiered on.

Im going to use an FX8350 one in my arcade machine with a 270X or a 390X I got.
I bought it a few years ago with a motherboard and RAM for £150 because I wanted a pc quick. Its alright for general use. A bit crappy for PCSX2 though.

Got a four year-old A10-6600K. Wouldn't mind some Zen grunt, but I can't justify a new CPU, mobo and RAM yet.

a whole amd fx system isn't worth more than $100, you dumb-dumb

>for parts only
are you retarded? can you even read?

I'm using a Phenom II, in here a 8350 is the same price of a ryzen 1600, feels like a ripoff.

Lord of housefires 9590 here

>219.8W TDP

Attached: diagnose you with dead.jpg (960x460, 56K)

An fx8350 is crappy for pcsx2 ?
That processor should be able to play anything on there perfectly.
Have you got the more than 2 cores checkbox marked ?

1.44v for 4.7, not bad

An Intel's 8 core at that frequency goes above 250W easily

>made in malaysia

Sasuga USA Jr.

You can measure the despair of a chip company by the TDP of their chips.

This. why the fuck are you bitching about 5 year old CPU's?

My 8350 Black has been pretty good. The only thing that it sucked at was Arma 3. I want to upgrade, but those fucking Ram Jews.

only absolute retards bought that shit, smart people like me bought the 2500k or the 4770k. now i can comfy wait for zen 2

you can do this with an a4 series apu for 30 bucks you retard

do they even sell them anymore?

>the shittiest ryzen is still faster than the most powerful FX chip ever made
reallymakesyouthink.jpeg

Even my i5 6600k 4.5ghz bottlenecks my in GTX 1070 in bf1 & bf5

those are cpu heavy games to be fair, as long as you dont play over 60fps wqhd it shouldnt be a problem

>2017 technology is vetter than 2011 technology
For what it cost, FX-8350 was powerful as hell, it's a pretty slept on cpu desu senpai

For what it costs in electricity, it's probably not worth it. Unless it's also being used specifically as a heater for your living space.

of course family, but the debate at hand here is "getting an fx cpu in 2018" and the answer is no

What gaymes are you trying to run on pcsx2 and what are your settings? I run all the stuff that I play (Yakuza 2, GTA SA, Burnout 3 etc) without any issues other than the ones with the emulator itself on an fx8320. Make sure you have the most recent version, I was running 1.2.1 since I downloaded it 3 or 4 years ago and it ran pretty smoothly for the most part (only cut scenes in more demanding games such as MGS3 lagged) but 1.4.0 or what ever the newest stable one is runs way better.

Only if it's disgusting my cheap, which is rare so I wouldn't recommend it either.

If the small difference in power cost is an issue, then what you doing building rigs?

I literally save 12$ a month in power since switching out my oc'd 8350 to a 2600X

What if I already did?
Just kidding, I never fell for this meme. Still on phenom II x4 here.

What's the problem with these? I have had an 8320 since like 12-13.

FUCK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TOLD ME

I already own 2 of them

Why? I've had mine for years on stock cooling and everything is running great.

Because a cheap CPU JUZT KANT BE GUUD!

To all FX-6300 nibbas in this thread, is it worth overclocking it? Share your speed and voltage configurations.

>says Germany on the chip
into the trash it goes

Underrated post

Attached: 1535395650954.jpg (674x674, 102K)

Don't own one but why the fuck wouldn't be worth OC'ing? If you have an FX you WANT to OC as you will need every bit of perf your CPU can give you.

And of users who can't do the math of per-year electricity cost in their heads: Convenient as it may be to have a space heater that doubles as a shitpost platform, it's in that death-spiral category of convenience.

K, I just cleared out my back account and bought a pallet of bulldozers.

I'm gonna be rich SENPAI.

FX6300 here, i can confirm, ryzen is based tho

i still have an fx8350. got it cheap and works fine for what i do

Trips of troof

>Trips

Attached: 558.jpg (657x527, 30K)

Quints, excuse me.

Where are your manners nigger? All the guy was saying is that he's happy with his econobox.

The 6600k has impressed me to no end. I bought it as a torture experiment two years ago and I murder that damn thing daily with pcars2 on triples. Running a 4.6 overclock on air and I'm blown away with how stable it is.

seems like amd shills are as financial inept as amd itself

>sold my FX-6100 and Crosshair V Formula for $60 to a close friend
he was very happy, I was just happy it was gone bc I had no use for it

Even when Jayztwocents calculated how much it was using vs an i7 with the average power billing rate, you would still have to keep the i7 for years and years to compensate the extra it costs to purchase.

>He didn't jew out on eBay and ask a shitload for a 990FX board
You're the best, user.

How fuckin' cheap does your electricity have to be to make buying something like this worthwhile in ``the current year''?
It obviously depends on the area, but it could easily be quite a bit more than the hardware cost itself.
When the reply chain was about "For what it costs" and using it in the current year, of course price matters on the issue. Regardless of whether or not you can afford it.
Not sure how that's relevant when it was Ryzen 1200 versus FX. 6 years makes a much, much larger difference than brand wars.
You can get the Ryzen for

I think being a millenial boomer is what's keeping me on this platform, you just can't get a motherboard like this anymore that isn't a low end B350, which is a shame, because ryzen 7 smokes the fuck out of FX and is 65w or some shit.

Fuck the fortnite Linustechtips zoomers for making the board makers do this.

Attached: 13-128-514-13.jpg (640x480, 38K)

im happy with mine (:

My fucking 7 year old FX-8150 is still powerful enough for 1080p gaming and VR, it drives my oculus rift just fine in most games.
The only time I have a performance issue with it is when I come across a title which for some insane reason is still locked to a single core and even then it's usually "Ah, I notice the framedrops" as opposed to "Holy shit this is unplayable".
Admittedly it is overclocked significantly with all 8 cores at 4.7ghz but the fact it can do that for all these years is testament itself.

This, there is a bottleneck on high end Pascal GPUs, but you can still max out games on an FX 8 core.
