have one of those (bought case and device separate, case was like $1.5 from a very slow shipping seller). price was a bit lower than that back then (the one in the old infographic was always more expensive), the only way to get a cheaper one is to build it yourself, its just a mega328p with a couple of supportive components, an lcd and a custom firmware which the base for the chink one is available for free (on a german website/forum/ftp, cant recall properly. it is pain in the ass to find/modify the right one if you have a different lcd)
meh, its not very expensive either way, unless you want to tinker with it (i modified mine to have a proper on/off switch and a step up converter from 2*aaa and/or micro usb [yeah yeah i know that might influence some readings, but ive filtered the step up converter output ripple down as much as i could and its not that much noisy now, just a couple of caps]). it would be nice to have a smaller case, and a firmware setting to keep the thing on for longer time without the screen light up, that shit draws most of the power
