Let's be rational adults: No, you cannot.

that's a no from me

>Are there dedicated audio blu-ray audio players? I assume you can play blu-ray audio in regular blu-ray players, but I'm guessing the quality wouldn't be as good as a player dedicated to audio.
>I tried looking but the ones I find play video too.

well that's a new one

Veneer is nice. I would've got veneered speaker too, but it was like 300 euro extra, fuck that I'm not going to pay 300 euro for veneer on a 1200 euro pair of speakers.

im building a small 8L computer case and I might have space for a 120x120mm speaker on the front of it. would the internals of the case being hot and having abit of air blowing around effect the sound the speaker can output? it will be heavly vented case maybe made of aluminum or steal or acrylic.

would turning it into a little speaker be dumb? what about a subwoofer?

Is this anechoic chamber measurement?

It would be an interesting project. The case is metal and would have a certain resonance signature sound. Might be good if you like Death Metal.

Can they use some metal or hard orchestral pieces and not this please. This probably can make every chink shit sound good.
Metal and hard orchestral pieces are the only true test of such systems.

I've been reading Bruce Swedien's 'In the Studio' and he raves about Auratone 5Cs. Anyone had a pair?

how much have speakers actually improved in 20years

vs 40years?

just wondering.

im assuming most of the big advancements where made in the 70s.

just finished building my first self-design. finished with our own beeswax.

Attached: vifa_mltl_2.jpg (2037x1358, 280K)

rare

better materials, better crossover electronics including ICs, better cabinetry, better finish, better science for measurement; and also better amplifier/preamplifier/DAC to drive them with

many advancements since neodymium, kevlar, integrated circuits, digitization

looks rough, if grilless; sand down and start over

ah sublime

What would be a suitable upgrade from some Superlux 668b's?

Main use is electronic music production. I would go for monitors if I didn't have room mates.

No real budget, but I don't want to spend an absurd amount, just a correct amount that would feel like a good upgrade/investment.

is it true that turtle's turds smeared over your ears ehcnance sound ?
i'm new here so i'm asking this

Time gated-nearfield stitch of the horizontal listening window. Atkinson makes the most of his lack of an anechoic chamber.
The near-field results have issues aligning bass levels correctly further away.

T/S parameters were developed in the 70's, but computer design didn't take until the 80's. Digital wasn't a part of the audio chain and most modern cone and dome materials didn't exist either. Frequency response measurements were done point-by-point, rather than a printed chart. The spectral analysis that is taken for granted now just didn't exist, too cumbersome.
In the last 20 years? The use of DSP and digital equalization is being realized now. There has been some increased awareness of spatial response, slowly. But while we can definitely make better speakers now than back then, if you look at some older high-end speakers (e.g. Revel Salon, K+H O500C), they're still decent.
The most interesting things in audio now revolve around what can be done with DSP that analog systems couldn't do before. But this almost requires active crossover systems, which home audio doesn't like.

so basically your saying they look nicer now and you can measure them now with more advanced equipment to make them appear like they have bigger numbers. and some random shit about EQ that a computer can do.

so basically nothing has improved ok. ill check back enjoy your 5000$ speakers.

hey show me your speakers

are they Lac Diamonds?

needs more lens flare desu

I have some focals that are worth like 300$ and some sonys that are worth 150$ and some hand made big ones my father made in 76 or some thing.

the focals are like old ones from 2003 or some thing and mounded in big acrylic boxes. and the sonys are hifi ones from like 2004 or some thing. big tall ones and the speakers form the 70s look like huge rock concert boxes or some thing imo they sound the best of the lot.

this aint no star trek bro

no, silly
it has to do with timing and rate
hi fidelity has a lot to do with matching the speed and dynamics of natural sound
speakers these days can "move faster" and endure more power, and the electronics can deliver the signal with better timing (DAC)

Attached: 153709939840555e.jpg (1991x1307, 2.89M)

You're living in mid-tier. You won't be able to hear most of the improvements because the devices aren't advanced enough. Like trying to watch 4K on a 640/480 monitor with 70% color gamut

ill post the model numbers n specs of stuff I got another day.

I know there is prob some thing better but I cant find it all the like 300-1500$ consumer stuff people post here doesn't seem much better.

obviously not prepared to pay a huge amount but would like suggestions or opinions.

also what you said made no sense. you say I have mid teir speakers and I wouldn't be able to tell the diference between speakers because what im sending to them isn't good enough you don't know what im sending.

I shall return. im just sick of being recommended 600$ speakers that will probably sound worse.

I don't know much about the performance of the Raidho cones. I have a learned distaste for tall rectangular drivers as they tend to integrate poorly with cones.
>expensive
They look more like exotica than interesting products.

>"we don't listen to measurements, we listen to music"
Found one of the D2.1
It doesn't look so nice.
According to them, it's a loudness counter based tuning, which I have all sort of problems with.

Trying to decide between Polk S15's and Q Acoustics 3010i's.. I have both currently and the Polk's are definitely better for tv/movies, but they are also GIGANTIC and the bass is a little too pronounced which imo hurts them when using for music (I'm thinking it's due to the "Power Port" on the S15's, while I have the 3010i's foam plugged). However, the S15's are cheaper than the 3010i's ($200 vs $250). I assume the 3020i's ($300) would be more comparable to the S15 in movies/tv, but those are a full $100 more than the S15's. Anyone have/have used both of these lines and can comment?

Bump for this

If I ever want a loudness tuning I will turn it on in my DAC.

But if I ever had a speaker that is "loudness tuned" I can never turn it off, which is just not right. And by the way, this "loudness curve" does not look like Fletcher-Munson curve to me

They have almost a 10 dB peak on bass already. In a room that can change to a 20 or even 30 dB peak which is a disaster.

beyerdynamic dt770 80 ohm, sennheiser hd 25

I think that had a smiley EQ to it, right? I don't remember that well.
Maybe the Beyer DT990?
Closed sets such as the ATH-M40x and DT770.

>30 dB peak

Attached: FEELTHATBASS_SON.jpg (2945x1737, 123K)

The dt880 pro or dt990 might also be a good choice. I think they are a little flatter than the dt770. A friend of mine has the 770 and i personally find the bass a little too pronounced.

>Are there dedicated audio blu-ray audio players? I assume you can play blu-ray audio in regular blu-ray players, but I'm guessing the quality wouldn't be as good as a player dedicated to audio. I tried looking but the ones I find play video too.

Buy an Oppo player if you can still find one. One of the best there is. No such thing as blueray audio players they will be video 100% of the time

bait

i would avoid polk because their sound output has a rought distorted quality no matter the volume because the parts are ultimately cheap and they go for midrange bloom and boomy bass

i haven't heard the 3010

NO, I WANT MORE BASS

Any other suggestions under $300 for 50/50 music/movies AND doesn't have a fugly square black box design? The only two I've seen that can hit those marks are Polk S10/15/20 and Q Acoustics 3010i/3020i

I'll look into the Beyerdynamics and try and decide on a model then. They are around the amount I was willing to spend, but I'll also consider some closed options. They'll only be used at home though.

Thanks for the replies.
