does it still have driver support or is it deprecated?
Do you need to overvolt it for stability ?

do you drive a ford edsel, and smoke chesterfields ?

Sorry for your lots. Try picking something other than MPDGs.

I quit smoking.

Taurus Garbí from 1967-ish. Taurus was a local Spanish brand.
Speaking of Spanish-made old items, here's a Citesa Heraldo. We exported these to Hong Kong, even. This one is plugged into my router and does calls over VoIP like it was made for it. And before you call that number, let me tell you it isn't mine, it's the previous owner's.

Also, I don't think I've ever posted this shelf on the Internet. It's been quite a while since I stopped collecting vidya stuff. Assburgers kicked in and I stopped enjoying video games.

you're not my real dad
it's a top-end but pretty stock 400 MHz Rev. A running a factory 8.5.1 install, if I want more dicklength I'll unzip my 2.3DC G5 or 500 MHz Sawtooth
wouldn't mind a good beige G3 as a bridge box though, they're pretty cozy

Attached: g5.jpg (4032x3024, 2.6M)

>500MHz Sawtooth
My Beige G3 will beat that one too whenever I get a new 500MHz MPC7410. But for now it beats it in pretty much everything except CPU and max ram. Gimme a second and I'll post the guts.
Also, G5s aren't really considered old yet, right?
I mean, my main machine is a dual 1.33GHz G4 FW800 and I use a Gigabit Ethernet with a 933MHz CPU out of a Quicksilver in the workshop to look up datasheets and stuff. I don't even consider those old.
Maybe I'm the one who's getting old.

Attached: IMG_20180910_163706.jpg (2560x1920, 2.24M)

Behold!
Specs are as follows:
>417MHz G4, pulled out of a Yikes!
>768MiB PC133 memory
>83MHz bus speed, overclocked from 66MHz stock
>120GB Hitachi Deskstar OEM drive pulled out of an MDD for OS 9 and Tiger
>PCI USB 2.0/SATA/Firewire combo card, all chipsets work under OS X, SATA does not work under OS 9 because it's flashed using WiebeTech's firmware to make it bootable
>10/100Mb Ethernet card, some Realtek POS which works well enough, onboard is completely borked
>Radeon 7000 PCI 32MiB, currently waiting on a 9250 PCI 128MiB
>Bluetooth module out of an Intel Mac mini, modified to work from the internal USB port in the PCI card. Also has the antenna placed in the Zip expansion bay.
>Combo drive from an MDD, with the tray front plate replaced with the original for aesthetics
Coming soon:
>Brand new 500MHz G4 7410 reflowed into the original G3 ZIF card, will also install 1MiB of backside cache
>64GB Kingston SSDNow V300, since it's one of the few SSDs that will play nice with the SIL3112 SATA controller
>OS X Leopard alongside the existing Tiger and 9.2.2 installs
>Maybe an Apple PCI-X Gigabit Ethernet card if I have some more cash to spare.

Attached: IMG_20180917_002011.jpg (2560x1920, 2.64M)

i want to sell it on ebay but i don't want to get fucked

Attached: 1.jpg (3834x2318, 1.61M)

you'd still be stuck with an older chipset, a little less expansion and slower bus/RAM/graphics though, not that it ultimately matters as long as it does what you want it to do the way you like it done
>Also, G5s aren't really considered old yet, right?
even the latest and greatest are now pushing over a decade and they're long out of mainstream developer support and common discussion, even though they still feel very modern in terms of their feature set, design and capabilities they're still pretty old, but there's nothing wrong with that
this is pretty good especially with a SATA controller, can't you get faster G4 upgrades in these things though?

Attached: g5s.jpg (3024x4032, 3.54M)

Comfy af senpai

>G5s.jpg
>literally the least interesting things in the pic are the G5s
I'd give my left nut for the IIfx, and my right for the SPARCStations.
What's the accelerator in the IIfx?
>in terms of their feature set, design and capabilities they're still pretty old
In what way? You can throw modern PCIe cards in the PCIe models (duh) and have them work under Linux. I'm pretty damn sure you could get a modern AMD GPU with DisplayPort and a USB Type-C card which supported alternate modes and had a DP input to work fine, even. Think about that, dongling up your G5 as if it were a nuApple machine.
>can't you get faster G4 upgrades in these things though?
They do exist. Afaik the fastest are a single 1GHz G4 or a dual 500MHz G4, both by PowerLogix. Or a single 1GHz G3 if you don't care about AltiVec, which considering I want to run Leopard, I do.
Issue is, the damn things fetch too much money, and they don't show up very often. I've looked everywhere on the Internet for one, and even asked a local store which deals with Macs since the mid-90s. Found nothing.
Any LaserDisc lovers here?

I bught an X-Fi off eBay a couple months ago. The Creative drivers are garbage. Probably a third of the time, the card shows an error in Device Manager when Windows comes up and I have to delete it and reboot to get sound. Annoying as shit.

i have an old CD of a Thomas The Tank Engine game meant to run on windows 98 somewhere i think.

>The Creative drivers are garbage
this is a factual statement

neat

Try the kX Project drivers, they've never failed me.

I had lots of pc gamer, pc user etc mags from the 90s, and I threw them away 10 years ago. I've been regretting it ever since

Lots of stuff going on, how'd it feel if there'd be a power outage?

And the wall behind my bed. No one's seen this one aside from a chick I used to fuck.
Most of the time it's all off except for a Sun Ultra Enterprise 250 that's under my desk, doing homeserver duty. And that one's behind a UPS, so not much would happen.

there's no need to be so rude about it, you know, I'm not trying to attack you with my filenames
>In what way?
I don't know, the processor that was effectively EOL'd during the Bush Administration? or the plethora of outdated I/O standards? the 10.5 maximum Mac OS version that is almost universally unsupported outside of specific projects like TFF? it's certainly not an unfamiliar system from a modern perspective and pretty much all the fundamentals are there, but you could say a lot of the same about a typical Unix or NT box from the '90s too.
>You can throw modern PCIe cards in the PCIe models (duh) and have them work under Linux.
that reasoning is a little fucky considering I can pull out one of my PCI Socket 4 boxes, throw 2K/XP on it and frankenstein the shit out of it too, and I don't think you'd call it a Pentium 4, expansion buses are generally going to be designed with longevity in mind.

They're big computers.
Oh, I didn't mean to be rude, sorry if it came through that way.
But you do have a point. I think I'm just salty all I have is ppc Macs and can't buy a Talos II yet.
Speaking about movie references...

Ur mom

honestly, I’ll take a PPC Mac or RS/6000 over a generic Supermicro Linux box with an IBM logo buried somewhere in the case any day, at least with those systems you can get a unique software experience/design you can’t get on literally any other PC made in the last 15 years

and I think the IIfx has a 50 MHz 68030 in it, not really sure since I haven’t gotten it running yet, needs new PRAM batteries, a new hard disk and probably a SCSI terminator

But what I wish to do is to relegate my other RISC/m68k machines to a non-mission critical role. Right now I depend on the reliability of the FW800, since it's pretty much the only machine I can get stuff done on, apart from my laptop (iBook G4). The Talos wouldn't be so much a thing to cherish and admire as it'd be a tool. A decently powerful one, too. Besides, I'm not even buying an entire system, I'll buy a Talos Lite (or hopefully its rumored mATX variant), a quad core POWER9 CPU and I'll just build my own system around that. I recently got a really really nice all-aluminium Lian-Li (I think) case from the early 2000s with a horrible paint job. I think I'm going to sandblast that one and make it into the case for the Talos.
As a bonus, it had a GeForce3Ti 200 inside.
Anyways, it's late and my autism pills are breaking up my cognitive processes just so I can sleep peacefully, so have a good night, Anons

Also, if you want to see more of my crap I have a youtube channel, ITTFami.
G'night for realsies now.
