I'm a patient man

>tfw theres only 2 ISPs in my price range in my area
>one is laugably slow for what you pay for (AT&T)
> the other apparently has frequent unannounced service outages (Spectrum)
>have a friend who got some kind of pirate internet through a mexican for $100 that's actually pretty fast but I dont want to risk running afoul of the law
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I LOVE LIVING IN AMERICA
ITS SO WONDERFUL
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Isn't it just wonderful? For me Comcast and AT&T are my only choices.

There is only one ISP in rural Idaho, Century Link, they have a total monopoly.

My ISP's been upgrading the infrastructure city wide; as a result I got a speed bump for free. Speed about tripled from what I did have. Happy days. Funny though, I don't download nearly as much as I used to. Oh well. The higher upload speed helps though since I remote access my media sometimes.

pretty good

what did you use?

google, it used a server too far away though
my latency is actually 10ms

Google's speedtest tool. Here's mine from Vancouver, Canada. Landlords pay for 150 down but won't give me wired access so this is what I get.

>my latency is actually 10ms
latency to what?

Latency is determined by the end server you're connecting to, there is no generic "this is my ping"

Based Aussie Broadband.

I've never dealt with a better ISP in my life.

>I work for Telstra

Last speed test I'm gonna run at my home in rural nowhere, UK. About to move to Uni, so I'm interested in the speeds there.

Went from this

To this after moving into town from living in the sticks.

The slower internet was +$20 more each month too.

I’m phone posting but my gigabit fiber is being limited by my wifi. With ethernet i get around 990 gbs both up and down

how is your upload so shit? Is your fiber not symmetrical?

its cable

Over my wireless

I just use this for everything at home and work.

fiber @ my apartment (wifi from router)

Attached: fiber.png (988x403, 63K)

I got a 900 down / 300 up line, 60EUR, it's ok except when my stupid neighbors unplug my fiber in the utility closet( because their Netflix doesn't work or some shit) these dumb fuckers I swear

Out here in Monroe it's either this or Comcast. This is $30 but the service is shit. It's been okay for the past couple months but I had so many outages last year I deeply considered giving my money to Comcast instead

Fuck Frontier by the way, the very first thing they did when they bought this infrastructure when Verizon moved out is cancel all new fiber layouts and raise prices. Why would anybody need more than ADSL?

Attached: Capture.png (744x306, 39K)

>i get around 990
impossible considering ethernet NICs max out at 945-950mbps.

TCP/IP overhead is 5.5%, you're not getting 990mbps.

I push my fingers into my eyes.

I can't help but feel that super-fast internet is becoming less and less relevant, since your speed is always going to be bottlenecked by the VPN that you have to run the bulk of your traffic through because your ISP is untrustworthy.

its still comfier, you can use stack VPNs/endpoints

I manage ~600-800mbps through PIA.

Don't be cheap and get an expensive router that can offload the VPN encryption.

>tfw am getting the 2nd lowest bandwidth speeds ITT
>am only getting 1/50th the speed that AT&T says I'm paying for
>they're getting away with it, and basically, I'm fucking retarded
And this is *AFTER* they spent the past 3 months tearing up every other street's asphalt in my neighborhood so they can "install updated fiberoptic lines"
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

>>tfw am getting the 2nd lowest bandwidth speeds ITT
You'll never be 1st lowest while I'm around, user.

50 Eurobucks per month.
At least the router has capable 4x4 Mu-mimo antenna setup and is not such a shitbox.

Very happy that I just moved to a newer building.

Attached: 7641876101.png (350x200, 21K)

Not bad for ~8$/month

Have spectrum in Florida hasn't given me any trouble.
