There are two explanations...

1. The cab driver asks for your address. You are so used to the internet, you preface all addresses with http and substitute "dot" for spaces.

2. Geocities gave all user websites "neighborhoods", so you might your personal website at 5038 Times Square.

I thought it meant that web addresses would replace street addresses ha

what was the internet like when it was all white?

the dark web didn't exist!

it did via usenet/bbs

Absolutely incredible. Forums were full of conversations and friend-making, websites had quality, text-heavy, meaningful content. People put effort into projects and great things were accomplished by small people.

The disaster of the popularization of the internet isn't just that the niggers and dumb women are here, it's that they perversely incentivized self-destructive marketing and self-destructive free market forces.

The popular internet is a big fat ass jiggling and shaking for third-worlder men. The white internet? It gave us BitCoin and Wikipedia.

Cringe. The worst part is you’re probably serious.

yeah but we didn't have all the amazing IR cuck porn we have today.

meaningful content like the spinning cacti GIFs and flamewars on ancient BBS systems

>Forums were full of conversations and friend-making
You still had the same shitposting(flaming), elitism and circle jerks.

The only difference now is that there's more places to do it.

My favourite part of Usenet is the ability to pull down all new posts as I push up all of mine, and then being able to go offline and not worry about it any more. It's such a more empowering and personal way of browsing a conversation platform than clicking through linier pages on a forum, or the transient nature of image/text boards and IRC.
