Is there a guide on replacing laptop battery cells?

>Last one archived edition
That's what happens when OP forgets the subject and people can't find it in the catalog.

Will libreboot protect me from the cia niggers?

Attached: pi.jpg (1024x683, 145K)

Alright, since you autistic fucks convinced me to get a thinkpad, please give me advice. I don't know shit about hardware, but my T410 has been shutting down randomly. Apparently, it is overheating. So I'm going to repaste the CPU and clean the fan, I guess.

Is this going to solve this damn problem? Im disgusted. I had it for like 3 months.

what are your idle and load temps?

new battery for my t440p is in, just have to replace the trackpad and it'll be peak comfy

Attached: moot finger smile.jpg (768x1024, 97K)

X1 extreme soon. Hopefully it doesn't suck.

Attached: Screenshot_20180918-012050.jpg (1080x1920, 202K)

lol NSA has already spliced into every major internet node in the USA, if you use the internet in any capacity they can hypothetically track you. hardware backdoors were designed for infiltrating offline systems

I don't know, and I can't check. I took it apart and I'm awaiting the arrival of thermal paste

>he fell for le old thinkpad meme
why? old thinkpads are underpowered have bad temps and shit battery life, get a T440p

Fucking bump, fuckers. Is this shit going to fix my laptop? Has anyone ever done this before?

>get a T440p
Sorry, m8, I'm not falling for any more of your shit

I need some nvme in my life.
sooo.... I'm going to buy x270 in few months, and I have one major concern. Am I going to get cuckolded by lenovo with their locked-down-pci-devices-scam-garbage?

tl;dr Can I install samsung 970 in x270?

I live close to there

If you bought a used laptop you should probably apply new thermal paste anyways. For all you know you had decade old semen paste that leaks in from the keyboard. That doesn't work as well.

I bought "refurbished" the thing came looking brand new.

you can install whatever drive you want

Let's start with that basically all x70 series thinkpads are basically a waste of your time, don't buy them unless the price is incredibly low which it probably isn't.

>"refurbished"
>""
there's your problem

If you're having temperature control problems, applying new thermal paste and removing old paste with some rubbing alcohol is the thing to do. You don't need much paste. Like a drop of urine when you pee that gets in your underwear.

That's exactly what the thinkpad autists recommend. It was $150, not bad, and I honestly love the fucking thing. Can you answer my original question, or not?

yes repasting will likely fix it

I have 2 offers at the moment and unsure which one should I go with.

T430 with dock:
i5 3320m vPro (2.2, up to 3.3 under load), 8GB RAM, 128 SSD + 1 slot for storage

Price is 300$

W530:
i7 3820QM 2.8, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Quadro K2000M 2GB GPU, Full HD display

Price is 350$

Which one should I go for?

for me it's the x200 + 1(intel me)

Attached: IMG_0384.rotated.jpg (3024x4032, 2.68M)

Any CHADs here own the x1 carbon 6th gen and run linux? looking to replace my based x220.

where's the 2hu

Will need to fact check that rubbing alcohol claim, but thanks for your help, user. Same to you. I pray this works. I even purchased a repair kit to make the process easier

Just got this for $400

Did I fuck up? It looks amazing and a huge step up from my Thinkpad

Attached: dpm4800.png (597x498, 17K)

right here

Attached: IMG_0955.jpg (4032x3024, 508K)

good deal

at the risk of sounding like a loon, isn't it odd that there still isn't a single proper review out for the X1 Extreme? apparently people have already had their x1 extremes shipped to them, but reviewers still haven't recieved any review copies. isn't it usually a priority to get copies to reviewers so they can hype up your products around and right after release?

welp, your room heate sure is better than my T440p, call me faggot fast before your superior laptop explodes because of shit temps

dont get a thinkipad after the xx50 xx40 is the sweet spot

Link? I'm shopping for a T440p right now, and I'm almost certainly going to need a new battery.

X220 here. 40-50c resting, 45-60c under load. 4-6hr battery on cheap chinkshit battery, 3-5 on half-dead official 9-cell. Gonna have to disagree.

based t440p

Damn, that's snazzy.

W530, no question. Unless you really need the thing to be featherlight.

Is this a good deal for 250? Looking for a new laptoo and I wanted one that would last a whe

Attached: 55D40008-F9E4-4637-9E7C-3ACFCBCCFC51.png (1242x2208, 1.73M)

It is strange. I am super tempted to get one but the lack of reviews is holding me back. Also unsure why Lenovo opted for a 1050 card when competitors like MSI can do 1070. Not sure if the X1E display is 144hz either.

Sorry for the spelling errors. On mobile.

1080p 6300u T460 for $300. Has a year of warranty left. Are there any complaints about this model and is this a good deal?

Attached: 28704818312_e1c2fbfe46_c.jpg (800x531, 129K)

yes extremely

That's all I need to hear. Thanks friend.

Thinkpads sound nice but I don't know how to look. X1 carbons look cool. I want to know which I would look for or for something similar.

Budget: ~$500
Specs: Linux, fast, 1080p, thin, probably 14"

Don't feel like write more but you get idea.

get a thinkpad t440p

Is that alienware screen mod on the t420s well documented somewhere?

Not a fan of the chubby kid style

T450s

Not bad. Where should I look to buy one.

Sup

>T450s
dont fall for that underpowered shit, the T440p cpu is 25% better and you can upgrade it so you can make it 73% better

he said he wanted a thin machine, the T440p is a brick

a powerful brick for chads

my t430s came in today. ask me anything...

Attached: 97326329729743.jpg (1600x1200, 120K)

I do. Works great. Especially now with the new firmware that brings back S3 suspend for Linux.

how does it feel to fall for a meme about a underpowered laptop? asking from my superior T440p

I dunno, works great for what I need it to do.

Where's the Trap?

Attached: FaceApp_1535314171406.jpg (1280x1280, 780K)

Good to hear, just wondering what display you have. Having trouble deciding between the FHD matte or the HDR glossy.

>W530:
Link for that one?

Just got a refurbed T420 with an i5-2540m and a Quadro 4200m with 6gb of DDR3 for $150, how'd I do?

Max price to pay for T460P? Some guy is selling for $680.

T440s or x230?

Good deal at $400.

Thinkanons, what's the comfiest way to use your thinkpad in bed? I've been looking for one of those laptop tables but they all seem too small for a 15".

What’s a good inexpensive think pad with a full keyboard

>tfw got sniped again on ebay for the x200 tablet comfypad

Attached: aoi_defeated_smaller.png (626x480, 188K)

How much would you fags pay for a t460 i5? There's a seller for 350 around here I don't know if he's legit tho

W530 looks like a better deal, but read about its sudden shutdown syndrome. That's why I don't own W530. I have T430 with dGPU since 2012 and I love it.

T540P feels like it's getting too warm, tried to open it and failed. Any ideas?

I'm not saying W530 is bad. Just read about SSS first and then decide.

Hello faggots. I was considering getting an ASUS vivobook but you autists are the only ones that might change my mind. I want your recommendations on the best Thinkpad. My budget is roughly 1000$ and i intend to run my own build of arch.

As far as specs go, I'd like something in the higher end but i probably won't use it for much other than watching porn and shitposting here with some minor emulation, video editing, and useless programming

What you got in mind

>My budget is roughly 1000$ and i intend to run my own build of arch.
Buy a Dell gaming laptop

I'm thinking about getting an ex lease T430;

Intel Core i5-3320M @ 2.60GHz
8GB DDR3 RAM
128GB SSD HDD
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, fresh install
1600 x 900

They have a bunch of them, aside from wear on the trackpad/ keys, how can I test which one is the best condition?
Also, I have a spare 128gb msata ssd, is it possible to install this drive as well?

thx

Attached: t430.jpg (969x961, 124K)

I've been reading up on the Skylake generation. The 1080p screen has terrible color coverage while the 1440p option on the T460s (and T560 and some of the higher-end models) is much better, at the cost of some battery. The s-variant also has the same 2.1mm key travel as its bulkier cousins. T460 tops out with that relatively poor 1080p screen.

I'll stop regurgitating and just post the link:
>thinkscopes.com/2016/03/05/skylake-thinkpad-generation/

HP 840 G3 and Dell Latitude E7470 are the primary business competitors for the T460. The Dell appears to outclass it everywhere but keyboard while the HP is the only one of the three with a 2.5" slot available for a second drive--not sure if that's true with the larger T variants because I was focusing on the s-variant because of the screen and battery life.

i bought a t430 with 8gb, 320 gb ssd and a i5 3320m for 170 euros with shipping, did i good?

Attached: t430.jpg (2000x1781, 455K)

Any fellow T410s bros have the vertical band problem?
youtube.com/watch?v=rM9_ZM_8qkQ
I was just going to replace the display cable but some comments say it's the display itself. Any insight/thoughts?

Attached: AmandaWenk.jpg (1280x960, 220K)

did it come with the upgraded screen or nvidia graphics? Otherwise you got worked.

t430 with nvidia gpu? they always come with hd 4k
also im a dutchfag so theyre always 150+

also it came with USB 3.0

How does that laptop have old keyboard and usb 3 ports

X62 mod

t430s fag back again, here is my cpu-z stats for people that like that sort of thing. valid.x86.fr/tcic1p laptop is is doing me well as my new main porn watching machine.

Attached: 180px-PennLeft.png (180x191, 50K)

feels bad that you cant update your CPU

how much power do I need to watch porn user?

I am glad you are happy user. Do you have a comparable non-S model? How significantly slimmed down is it compared to them?

I might consider it if it's that much better, but is it really as ugly as it seems?

ive heard black porn has a quite heavy load

Never mind. Uglier than a mofo. How are the X1 carbons?

nope, this is my first thinkpad only ever had shitty acer and hp laptops before. The reason I got a slim model was because I hated my old bulky acer.
wew lad!

Attached: megastuf.jpg (300x195, 21K)

I have the X1 yoga. Really happy with the machine but W10 is a steaming pile of shit...

But if I install anything else I lose Windows ink support

Should have kept my iPad pro + thinkpad combo

Attached: wincucks.jpg (540x359, 23K)

is that itaos wife from gaki no tsukai?

What's the best site to order a good 1080p screen for my T440p? I'm not sure which models were supposed to be good. Any help is appreciated

Anything X1 is a waste of money without the hdr screen (which puts everything from ultrasharp to retina to shame). It's honestly the greatest laptop screen ever made and you don't even lose too much battery life from it.

Attached: 22814487_300859047075001_6156500327616307644_n.jpg (540x960, 45K)

just spent ~$1600 on a thinkpad t70 from 51nb through jacky on qq. i paid more for faster shipping, 2 weeks left.

How is Dell's Precision 3000 series? Seems like good value for $900 new.

Why?

I just want fullHD screen, good battery life, and nvme. I'm tired of x220 with it's garbage burning in ips screen.

What's so bad about x260 and x270?

At the first glance all x250-x270 almost the same.

found a cancer ray tube for $12 at Goodwill. hooked it up to the T420 and took a photo of them like a boomer.
using Arch and xrandr btw.
