>News >Model F News Model F user is done with all the parts. All that is left is the assembly. He is going to the NYC meetup if you want to see his peni... keyboard >Realforce R2 Looks like ass... I mean it is coming out soon, but it looks like a standard 104 layout keyboard >I am going to the 3 Tigers soon. Basically China, Korea, and Japan. Should I buy this keyboard. 330, but resale value in the states is like at least 400 usd. Someone fucking talk me out/in to it.
>spherical keycap what's spherical about it? this community and its pretentious misnomers.. feels smart to not burn money on faggy "mechanical" keyboards
Michael Bennett
it is not mechanical though.
Jaxon Jenkins
>tfw my keyboard is getting delivered tomorrow Last mechanical was Steelseries 6Gv2 which I gave away. I have waited for a bit for the seller of that cooler master keyboard to get it back on stock, and already have blank keycaps from kbdfans on hand. I feel pretty stoked right now.
Hey /g, I need a good wireless 60% with no lag what do you recommend in the 90 - 120 range? I'm in the us and want ansi so i can meme it up with key caps
>NYC you mean NJIT meetup. you jersey fags will never be part of jew york. honestly it's a bit surprising who the whole state hasn't sank into the ocean thanks to your fat asses
I've used blues all my life, but have recently gotten tired of the noise. I currently have a Cherry MX red keyboard, and am curious as to what brown switches are like.
I heard they have better tactile feedback compared to reds, but are quieter than blues. Is that true?
Andrew Gomez
Browns are barely tactile at all. At minimum get something with mx clears (or one of its many clones).
Ayden Smith
does anybody know where to buy ducky keyboards for somewhat cheap in central yurop?
Browns are really shit, barely any tactility. They might as well be linears, honestly, and a lot of people characterize them as "scratchy reds." I've heard some people get better results when they're lubed, but, well, that can be said for a lot of switches.
Charles Perry
>tfw European and the chinks aren't selling on your country's amazon >tfw no keycaps for your language Why? How am I supposed to get a KB that goes with my coding socks?
I'm not entering my CC number on that chink chonk site. There are good KBs on the bong amazon tho, but no caps for my country's layout. Just fuck me.
Gabriel Anderson
you're stupid, you don't need a cc to filter and taobao doesn't take foreign credit cards, but they do take paypal. just because you're dumb and cant find ISO keycaps that doen't mean the rest of the internet is. either grow a brain or go back to r/keyboards
Ryder Foster
I'll have to buy gaymer. It's either that or membrane.
Ian Cox
Hypothetically, could a brick-and-mortar store that sells, customizes, and repairs mechanical keyboards ever be profitable?
Brandon Brooks
Doubtful. People really into customizing mechanical boards are a small niche in the overall scheme of things.
What about in a college town with a lot of nerds so one could pander to the peesee gaymur crowd
Brandon Harris
what reason are you giving them not to just shop online? even if "THEY CAN TRY THEM OUT IN-STORE", they'll just do that and then leave and order what they wanted, cheaper and without tax, online
Connor Butler
You'd have to deal with higher prices compared to online shops. There's a relevant situation happening with shops that sell headphones wherein people won't actually buy shit in store because they can get it online for significantly cheaper.
Joseph Powell
>t. poorfuck with a shitty spongy 5$ keyboard that strains his hands
I have a realforce 87u with topre and a leopold fc660m with cherry browns. If you have enough to spend, you should try out a topre board. It feels extremely smooth compared to cherry
Carter Bailey
True, but I feel like there would be something to the experience of getting to go into the store, pick out your own keycaps and stuff, and walk out with a keyboard that same day
David Ross
Just got done linear modding an AT102W. Damn, this shit's lit. As a clicky guy, I always dismissed linears for being too bland (having never tried them); can definitely see the merits in them now.
William Morgan
>using membrane keyboard for most of my life >fall for the /mkg/ meme and buy a keyboard with box whites >they feel like shit to type on, almost like they're lagging Oh well at least I know why the rest of the world switched to membranes
KPRepublic on AliExpress sells decent dyesub keycaps with most European sublegends (if not all). Using your CC in AliExpress is as safe as using PayPal, the info goes to AliPay, not the seller. AliPay is just as big as PayPal.
Lucas Jones
ThinkPad keyboards are better than mechanical keyboards.
I don't think that is what he meant. Probably referring to how cherry feels like garbage compared to other higher tier switches like gateron and kalih box switches.
>shit tier switches feel worse than higher end switches no shit bro
Jayden Fisher
Yeah no shit. He posts it every thread.
Evan Brooks
Anyone that can chime in on the únicomp model m keyboards? I'm aware that the old model Ms were better. The question is if the new ones are OK.
Brandon Wood
yeah. They are still pretty good.
David Flores
They're good. Just get one with the modern slimmer case. The thinner plastics makes the straight M clones feel flimsy. Keys and stuff are good though, and you get a shit ton of colors and things to choose from.
Dylan Young
I find those grey/white keyboards borderline erotic. Is there anything wrong with me?
Henry Long
considering a happy hacking. might buy today. should i get a type s? does it feel worse? i'm not a huge fan of noise but i love tactility.
Jaxson Gonzalez
the issue with the type s being it supposedly sounds scratchy. but if its overall more pleasant i could do that.
William Rodriguez
imo hhkb is overpriced for the build quality you get, topres are decent and all, but the hhkb is cheap plastic shite with thin pbt and it's not really worth the price investment
why not get another topre board? there are higher quality options like the Leopold, and it's not that much of a price difference
Josiah Rivera
I wish Tex would just sell those ADA profile caps already.
Caleb Powell
>code key
Cameron Smith
which leopold should i get
Easton White
fc660c is the uncontested GOAT keyboard
Logan Anderson
the leopolds are like 100 bucks more, but a realforce 87u 55g would be like the same price
Mason Torres
why the 660c over the 980c?
Brandon Morgan
metal backplate and comes with pbt caps
Parker Nelson
if you were considering a HHKB then the fc660c would be the form factor you are looking for no? i think all the other topre variants come with PBT caps now so you cant go wrong with either
Gabriel Barnes
i have a desk, so dont really matter to me. hhkb just comes in one form factor lol.
Camden Butler
if i do end up getting a leopold, thatll be like 311 on its own, 309 for a full size. should i be looking for 55g or 45g? heard 55g is better and i'm used to heavier switches like buckling sprint, nmb, and mx clears.
Lucas Torres
oh or is leopold only in 45g?
Kevin Edwards
Just buy some BTC dome board. They're cheap and pretty and more tactile.
Jack Martinez
think ill just get the leopold lol
Blake Hernandez
Has anyone in here used a kailh low profile keyboard? I'm thinking about getting one but apart from a few shilling videos on youtube I can't find that much information about them.
if you LIKE heavier then get 55 yeah, if you dont then get 45
Angel Taylor
cool beans just got a amazon card, ill order it from mechboards
Easton Gomez
I've heard negative things about the standard kailh switches but these low profile ones seem quite different, what type of keyboard/switch did you use?
Jace Allen
nah that is perfectly normal in this hobby. Beige + White is beauty
Gavin Collins
desu i love beige boards. white is cool too but there's just something about old school pbt that turns me on.
Owen Gomez
Well all the fucking btc board has the weird focus layout.
BKE swapping a topre board makes it like 2x better than btc.
Gavin Jones
Blue kailh, but keep in mind it was some 'gaming' mech from a brand I never heard about.
not with that attitude owo though i gave my brother my redragon k551 and i never did replace the caps. the sound hurts so bad though ;-;
Easton Barnes
Dude, I hate to tell you this. But they are possibly the worst mx switches I have tried and I have tried MY switches. At least whatever keyboard you get now will be better
i haven't gotten to try my switches, but give me outemu blues over mx browns any day. that's the reason i bought clears. but now i'm gonna replace my clears with a leopold 980c, so that should be fun.
Christopher Hill
Remember to get bke domes. They make them super tactile
