Firefox

why is there no "solo tab" options for audio instead of having to open new links that open new tabs to then have to mute after the audio has already started playing?

why can't I just say: right now, I only want audio from this 1 tab.

>Hey I'm listening to something but let me open a new tab where I'm gonna listen to something else at the same time. Hold on let me open a 3rd tab and listen to something else at the same time as well.
>HOW COME ALL TABS PLAY SOUND THIS IS INTOLERABLE
KYS

okay autismo, let me explain:
>listening to something that is extremely long (2 hours plus)
>don't want to stop doing everything just to finish listening
>want to keep browsing and working and communicating while listening to the one tab in the background
is it clear now brainlet, or do I have to explain it further for your sperg mind to comprehend?

>the technology isn't lacking, you're just using it wrong!

exit the tab you retard

>missing the point
having to mute every tab you're browsing or every link you're opening is fucking annoying.

counter question
why the fuck do you have audio from more than one or two tabs?

>pull the tab to a seperate window
>mute the main firefox while the backgroumd one continues playing
Wow that was hard

stop having 40 tabs open

because I have more than 1 tab open you mongoloid.

is this bait?

Attached: smug-on-you.jpg (800x533, 66K)

you can't mute one firefox window while allowing the other window to playback audio.

I am asking why you are opening so many tabs with audio you fucking nobjockey.

Because it's an option that would be extremely rarely used that goes against the very use case of a browser and so would cause more problems than it would solve.

>over 9000 search results for WHY DO NONE OF MY TABS PLAY SOUND ANY MORE?

no. he's probably a zoomer.

how is that relevant to anything? besides, I'll only know if the page has audio after I have opened it.

why is there no FX button so I can remove all the shitposts with iZotope?

take your ADHD pills jeffrey

Yea so? Keep on listening to your tab and dont start any video/sound on other tabs, how hard is it?

>goes against the very use case of a browser
why do autistic mongoloids keep making shit up?

stop having 40 tabs open

unlike you, I have shit to do.

I will only know if something has audio, after the fact. are you that dense?

When I open a site in a new tab I expect my browser to open the site in a new tab. If it stops doing that, something's wrong.

>first
have you considered that your browsing habits might be at fault because you use your browser like 14yo ADHD patient.
>second
I don't know which websites you frequent but where I go I usually know if something will play audio, even if it's my first time on that site
>third
write a plugin for it if you need it so bad

t. pornwatcher who lives with mommy

>When I open a site in a new tab I expect my browser to open the site in a new tab.
are you retarded? what does this even have to do with anything? I don't want the new tabs to make sound.

>shit to do
clearly not if you have enough time to complain that software isn't tailor made for your autistic use of it.
Besides if anything more tabs make you less productive not more

your entire post is retarded, like legit autism spectrum reasoning.

No nigger, audio/video don't auto start on browsers anymore. There must be a user interaction to start playing. So you are basically saying that you hit a play button and are surprised that there is sound. You only discover it "after the fact"
Holly shit mang are you this retarded?

I can
If you can't you can always open it in a private window or even another browser.

Then turn off your system sound.

>audio/video don't auto start on browsers anymore.
you think I'm randomly opening links to then NOT GO AND WATCH THE FUCKING PAGE? are you brain dead?

>I open 200 tabs and never know if they have audio
>WHY CAN'T I MUTE ALL BUT ONE TAB
Have you considered that you might be at fault here
>YOU FUCKING AUTIST REEE

alright kiddo

stop habing 40 tabs open

>turn off your system sound.
the entire point is that I need to finish listening to this long thing.

t. lazy developer

>200
>40
why do you keep projecting your autism onto me? even 1 additional tab with audio is too much when I'm listening to something else.

So why aren't you stopping before you onto the next page.

Now I am sure this is just bait

nigger I got 1 tab open. I am typing from a Celeron laptop with 1 gig ram.

and if it's just one tab, mute the one tab.

>stopping
this is what I don't want to do
>close one tab
>have to visit another link
>new tab opens
>may or may not have audio
>may or may not have to mute a new tab again
>rinse and repeat
why is it you autistics can't understand basic things like these?

stop having 40 tabs open

Open in a different browser and mute your other one.

>I got
who gives a fuck what you do on your toaster?

alright enough fun, no one is that stupid.
Had me on the rusecruise for a bit I admit.

yeah I've done that in the past, but it's not great.

OP is a fucking retard desu

+1

autism duo.

*trio

stop having 40 tabs open

Making a UI is a judgement call. If you don't limit options it become unnavigable.
I've never used "reload" (I use the button) "pin site", "close other tabs", "close tabs to the right", and certainly not "Bookmark all tabs." Adding more and more shit that I'm not going to use will just get in the way of the ones I do.

yeah they clearly care about having to add 1 other option here in this list of precious items. they can also make it an optional feature

LOL, what the fuck Mickey Mouse browser are you using?

firefox.
>LOL
are you 12?

How many tabs do you open while browsing that autoplay audio?

I'm listening to 1 tab which has a 2 hour plus audio podcast.

so we're talking about 2+ hours of browsing and having to mute all new tabs while closing and opening new ones.

tabs dont load/play any media until you click on them.

>until you click on them.
yes I know, I want to keep browsing, I don't want to open new tabs to then not look at. see:

Good job living in 2003. We Chrome now.

awww you poor baby.
those extra 3 clicks must be difficult.
here goy, take these anti-depressants.
*flosses on you*

>Chrome
good job living in 2015, we firefox now.

wow, you couldn't post like a bigger faggot if you tried.

Wow op is definetely autidm

>autidm
you can't even spell your own affliction

stop having 40 tabs open

I don't.

it's not the number of tabs, but when you're browsing for 2 hours, you're closing and opening new tabs which then need to be muted. I only have like 5 open at the same time.

>be OP
>get absolutely destroyed

I know what did not originate here you redditcuck.

>hr knows whats on reddit

FF already does this for me if I open media in a background tab it doesn't play until I focus it. I even get a play button on youtube tabs

Attached: werks-for-me.png (467x222, 5K)

>background tab
yes but I mean I don't want to stop browsing and also don't want to keep muting the tabs I open and look at.

Firefox devs basically said 'lol too hard wait for somebody to make a web extension'. You could try the mute tab webextension, no idea if that actually has the correct behavior for what you've described though.

I don't understand, why are you opening and looking at tabs that play audio if you don't want them to play audio? what is the use case?

also it took me 5 seconds to find an addon that does exactly what you're asking, I assume you've already tried it yes?

addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/mute-tab/

Op is fucking retarded

>doesn't do tab-solo
you thought I didn't know about that addon?

>I don't understand, why are you opening and looking at tabs that play audio if you don't want them to play audio? what is the use case?
Not OP, but I can think of a few off the top of my head.
>webex meeting with a customer, don't have to worry about unexpected or expected audio when multitasking literally anything else during the meeting.
>Podcast or something else playing in the background as default bgm, want to press two buttons when something catches my interest instead of pressing one button for every single instance of something not catching my interest. Added bonus of no audio overlaps.
>::stopmusic isn't real you fucking newfags
