Because the minute you buy an Android device, you can debloat it if you're smart enough. No Google bullshit, no Chinese shit and no Samshit.
I'm actually starting to consider an iPhone my next phone around. Seeing the new iPhone 10s Max makes my heart kind of hurt for it. I have really big hands and it's been why I haven't been buying iPhone but I have the bezels just as much because of large hands. But the XSMax has a huge screen for media and Apple is pretty decent about putting.
Overall there are just some things we can't avoid. Companies will collect our footprint whether we like it or not. They'll always somehow end up using any data we create for their statistics and research and while it does bother me, it can't really be helped all that much. :/
>Does rooting your device (e.g. an Android phone) and replacing its operating system with something else void yourstatutory warranty, if you are aconsumer?
>In short: No. Just the fact that you modified or changed the software of your device, is not a sufficient reason to void your statutory warranty. As long as you have bought the device as a consumer in the European Union.
Seems Apple have a much better privacy policy if that's what you are concerned about.
Nathan Ward
First off, Google and Apple are shit. Now, if you want to get a listening device, it depends on your technical knowhow which is the lesser evil: >tech illiteralte normalfags get an iphone, it spies, but less than anndroid >techies get an android and configure it to spy less, hack around in termux, run free software from fdroid or replace android with a botnet free rom
Still the best solution is not owning a smart phone.
Google still spies more. I don't even need sources fir this. It's literally their business model. Google is the mother of the botnet.
Aiden Campbell
Value, why get an overpriced fisher price toddler phone that needs lagtunes for access when you get get something better for half the price?
oneplus 5T: >$500 >faster performance >8GB RAM/128GB Internal >3,300 mAh battery (0-60 in 30 min) >~1080p amoled screen >dual 16MP cameras >rarely overheats and thermal throttles
iPhone X: >$1,000 >slower performance >3GB RAM/64GB Internal >2,717 mAh battery (0-40 in 30 minutes) >~1080p amoled screen >dual 12 MP cameras >constantly overheats and thermal throttles

Somebody reel in the scat porn please
Jace Wilson
Really, do you have anything to back that up? Because to me they both collect a lot of "telemetry" on you but at least on android you can disable most if not all of it. On iPhone you can't do much except jailbreak it and expose it to a huge magnitude of patched 0-days like webm related.
Dylan Ortiz
> why is the general consensus on this board that Androids are better devices despite your hatred towards google? Better operating system. Better ability to choose your software, including heavily manipulated OS. And the ability to go full open sauce. Better deal for the phones, you get more per dollar if there are monetary constraints. Better phones on the high-end most of the time if there are no monetary constraints.
> pajeet bricks his phone installing custom roms > runs crying to the retailer that the phone is broken and begging for a replacement
Brandon Davis
degoogled android leaves you with shitty apps and ruins functionality.
Jose Hill
Yeah but we still get updates, even ancient phones like the galaxy S5 still get updates. We may not get the latest android ROM but the updates are still there.
David Baker
>They'll always somehow end up using any data we create for their statistics and research and while it does bother me, it can't really be helped all that much. :/ Unless you opt out of smartphone use.
Better or similar hardware for a lower price More customizability Not locked behind applel'e walled garden, you can download apps from many places, and use it completely without gApps Being able to flash your own rom And pretty much else is covered in what I said above (water protection, SD and Headphone jack support, apps like greenify that help control the active and background apps, Haven that lets you literally use your phone as a security camera, etc.)
Why wouldn't you buy and android? Thats the question you should be asking What reasons do you have to stay with IOS
Eli Torres
I'm gay.

>actually believing the stunt

This cellebrite must be pissing their pants laughing along with all the feds monitoring this thread.
Evan Fisher
My phone works fine degoogled and I can still use most apps.
Jason Reed
more like SEETHING

wow u mad lol

He's pathetically attempting to falseflag to justify his terrible financial decision. All of my family members have iPhones on a lease and whenever anyone tells them anything bad about them they mutter "muh privacy, muh apps, mug logo".
For what it's worth, and as a small example of even the debate between big corporations, the reason BMW only has Apple CarPlay available and doesn't allow Android Auto is because Google wanted ALL the data. All of it. So much that BMW told them no and gave a no strong enough that it's now 2 years later and they still won't have Android Auto. Google refused to negotiate. Apple is certainly getting some data but I guess they at least kinda understood a bit. I mean, considering you're taking the smartphone in the car with you and it's tracking you wherever you go, what's scary, to me, is how much more data could there possibly be available to even get? I don't know. Again, take that for what you will just as an example, but as far as I know BMW told Google, essentially, "fuck no dude, are you fucking crazy?"
Liam Barnes
>you can debloat it if you're smart enough. No Google bullshit, no Chinese shit this is a lie
Aaron Clark
these tests are garbage
Julian Scott
unironically considering replacing my SE with a higher capacity SE if there's no SE2 planned
Liam Parker
the posters of Jow Forums have no lives, so they can afford to sit around and tinker with their phones until they're perfect or near-perfect. they value malleability over simplicity. Android is perfect for tinkering, and so Jow Forums likes Android.
Ayden Reed
just buy the phone you like best. no one actually cares except for the special autists on this board
Ian Myers
who actually has 6 phones side by side like this. stupid test
Lucas Sullivan
What about this one. Or do you think a 2 minute gookbench test is 99.999999% more accurate than this?
android has the larger appstores with more ways to load apps (sideloading)
apple fones are overpriced for comparable hardware technology
that's all i got. what else is there?
Anthony Thomas
Iphones have a 2 year life cycle whereas androids are 1 year
Apple is moving towards making iphones even more durable too.
Oliver Murphy
when u say "life cycle" what is that referring to exactly ? do they die after a year or 2 or do you mean planned OS updates? or is it something else
Anthony Lopez
some androids are overpriced too.
Joshua Smith
that's a laughable assertion the bezelless meme is only going to make phones more fragile
Ryder Gonzalez
Why does every thread like this evoke the "I've used android for years but I'm getting sick of it" and the "yes, user, man the switch" responses? That's all I fucking see anymore. Go argue on /spg/
Jackson Cook
retailer resets the software, phone is work
Jonathan Roberts
hard brick
Dylan Scott
Iphones are generally supported with updates for at least two years, Androids are lucky to get even one update
Also there is no argument in build quality, Apple wins hands down.
Consider the fact that when an iphone screen breaks or the battery gets worn out, it can be easily repaired either by yourself or by one the many trained technicians at Apple stores across the country. When an Android phone breaks, you throw it away and buy a new one.
iphone have like 4-5 yrs of software updates androids have 2-3 yrs
desu no one actually cares about updates after the first year
Dylan Miller
>implying this shit doesn't happen every day with lagdroid
Xavier Jenkins
Right but stop misleading people to believe apple has better build quality, if anything they have worse. The only difference is they have more hush money than chink manufacturers.
android security is an oxymoron never listen to anyone on Jow Forums when it comes to phone security advice there's a reason all those criminals who use android are in jail and the ones with an iphone are all scott free.
Ethan Rivera
but the new ios update made phones run smoother.
Levi Johnson
>i don't listen to the security researchers who all use ios and apple because they have better security >i use google products because eric schmidt said android was more secure than ios and despite a giant room of professionals laughing at him, I chose to listen and believe wow, very brave of you.
Christopher Jackson
wrong, apple devices regularly get 5-6 years of support whereas most android devices get one and it's very, very late.
Kayden Scott
Really?
brb updating phone
Jose Scott
>long time iPhone user >get X during launch >buggy af >switch to Note 8 for 6 months >buggy af, but somehow worse >pre-order XS and can't wait >probably will be just as buggy, but with iMessage
>most android devices get one and it's very, very late. That or the manufacturer just says fuck you and refuses to send out that update they promised and tells you to buy a new phone.
Lucas Scott
Ive been using iPhones since the 4S and I kind of hate the X. I have an 8 now. I don’t like the notch, I don’t like the bezel rim, and I don’t like the lack of a headphone jack. I haven’t gotten used to the design like fanboys said I would.
I think Samsung is kicking their ass on hardware design right now, it’s not even close imo.
So when it’s time to upgrade I may go droid, but it would be like starting over.
Brayden Bennett
Better hardware, better applications, open source software repos like F-Droid. I can transfer files between my phone and any Windows or Linux PC with no extra shitware like iTunes. I can choose from dozens of music players that can play a wide variety of audio formats, I can use YouTube clients like NewPipe, I can block ads systemwide. I also get way better battery life.
I've also opted to install an entirely new OS on my phone (Lineage OS) that has no Google shit installed. I'll never go back to using iTurds. Apple devices are locked down pieces of shit. You can get more flexibility and options from a $20 flip phone.
doesn't seem hard to fake a video like this (record 6 attempts, then unlock, then film 6 more). also with ios12 external devices no longer get USB data access if the phone has been locked for more than an hour, so such an attack would only work in theory for a short time window.
Grayson Long
Unfortunately that isn't an option for me.
Not a complete lie! I've tried it with older phones and it's easy to get by without Google shit everywhere. But it IS close to impossible without ruining a good chunk of functionality, so it gets harder over time when you could have just used Google. Shitty situation the tech industry is in, unfortunately.
