>bought a i7 3770k over 5 years ago >4 core, 8 threads still running at 4.5ghz >still basically plays any game effortlessly paired up with my 1080Ti
Is there any reason to upgrade if you just game and use regular desktop functions? Seriously if I'm not using rendering 3D programs, what is the point of getting a new CPU?
Take it to Jow Forums, this is a technology board.

>start game download on Steam >CPU hits 100% load >it's a 4.7GHz 4790K >Steam game download/install is now CPU bottlenecked, both my SSD and my 1Gbps internet connection are not the actual limits Granted, it's still fast as fuck but it's a bit strange to see download/install speed end up CPU bottlenecked.
Nolan Miller
that was a question not a request besides, videos are technology
necessary evil.

>i7 3770 3.6ghz >still basically plays any game effortlessly paired up with my 1060 6gb.
Say what you will, they still deliver outstanding performance.
Zachary Hill
Moore's law is dead, only reason to upgrade is when they fix all the CPU vulnerabilities now.
Mason Ortiz
I've been using a 2500k at 4.8GHz for six years. The 7950 I extensively mined on back in the day recently died, so I replaced it with a 580.
Ethan Peterson
That's going to require a completely new architecture. Fix x86/64 vulns is nothing more than a sticking plaster over an inherently compromised arch.

If it works well it works well. Are you trying to convince yourself to waste money?
Dominic Perry
>necessary evil. Uhhhhh... What?
Wyatt Roberts
>CPU overhead on the Ethernet is so high it gets bottlenecked Do you have one of those Killer ethernet chips?
Robert Edwards
No. Keep it. A kept my Q6660 for around 10 years.

this looks like set for GirlDoPorn, search on pornhub: gdp leah

so basically Jow Forums and Jow Forums's dream come true
Same CPU my computers use, it's still a fucking beast. I swear 4th gen is one of Intels best contributions to the PC world.
Landon Gonzalez
so you have a ryzen 5 1500x, it okei

My i5 4690k overclocked to 4.2 ghz bottlenecks before my 970 when playing quake champions.
Sad times all around.
Zachary Gutierrez
Was going to add, I want it to run at 120 fps but can't get it to no matter what I do.
Adrian Cox
very well, user. now what's her home address?
Jordan Barnes
does this thot take money in exchange for penis in vagina
Carter Green
some games need to be decompressed and if the data is coming in faster than your cpu can process it you do indeed get the bottleneck. i wish steam wouldn't expect you to decompress them in real time.
Josiah Wilson
I upgraded from a 3570k just because I wanted to emulate PS3 games.
But unless you wanna emulate PS3 or need more for actual work, a 3770k is still good.
Jordan Moore
>Do I need to upgrade my CPU if it still does everything I need it to do? Obviously not.
