Which antivirus/firewall should I use for Windows 7? Is Comodo still good?
When I install Windows 7, how do I get rid of the botnet updates, the Jow Forums wiki says it's impossible to get rid of them now because they're packaged together with other updates, is this true? Should I just use SP1 with no updates?
Are there any Windows 7 installation packages, programs, or any must-haves that you'd suggest? I haven't used Windows in ages.

If you want to get rid of the 'botnet' stuff you can lookup the Microsoft hosts file online
It lists every Microsoft ip/DNS
Add it to you hosts or make a pi hole or use your router to block those locations

Don't do this, "telemetry" bypasses the hosts file.
Which is why you can block outside of the local host. Do it on a gateway device.
