So basically i'm getting my screen fixed or 'assessed' rather, and they want to inspect my pc, they even asking for my login details so I just changed the user password so they can easily access it (said user login is a sudoer so they have full access)
I don't believe I have anything important on that pc, however is there a way to monitor exactly what they've done? Worst case scenario they could install malicious stuff or a rootkit on my pc.
It's really suspicious that they wanted my login rather than just say please zero your drives and we'll install some OS like windows or something and we can do the assessment ourselves.
Company is big and reputable, maybe I'm thinking too much but I think i'll do a complete zero and reinstall of Arch when I get it back I suppose.
What's the worst that can happen? Any horror stories?

It was a new computer that I deemed faulty, the only thing I really had on it was the base packages + some others like icecat, mpv and stuff.
There isn't anything important on it which is why I just changed the passwd to like 12345 and gave it to them, since theres nothing really on it.
I have used icecat to do banking, however icecat is fsf compliant, so there shouldn't be anything I should be afraid of I think (since I dont save any passwords or anything)

Not op, I have repaired several laptops on my own. You are vastly under estimating how long it takes and what a pain in the ass it is. You have to usually unscrew the back panel, some of the motherboard screws, and sometimes fans and hinges and then take off laptop plastic casing. For a nub to do all this would be a major pain. It really depends on the laptop. Replacing a panel on a thinkpad, reasonably easy. A glued-together macbook air? fuck no. Also taking it apart is easy, it's the putting it back together part that most people fuck up.

I used to work in a company like that. Besides fixing the screen, they'll offer a free checkup which just means running a bunch of diagnostics and anti virus tools, plus opening it up and closing it again hoping that something is broken so they can charge you for the parts and repair.
