No, its a western world thing. It allows you to stretch out your budget if your financials are in good standing. If your credit is shit, only shitters will lend you money. If you can buy everything with cash, there's no issue.
For the Chinese "equivalent", its "social credit". It allows you to have everyday freedom Americans enjoy. If you're social credit is shit, you're under house arrest or in prison where you disappear.
