haven't seen you in a while, how's it keepin'?

Buying 64GB of RAM soon for my Mac Pro 2,1 because it is cheap

It's nice. I should have bought slower 64gb when I had the chance.
MFW: opted for 16gb of brand new cas 10 instead of 64gb of used ddr4. Now ram is expensive.

depends on what you do on your PC and your personal needs but I'm quite often sitting at around 20-24 in use nowadays, can't imagine having any less than 32GB at this point

>tfw I grabbed 16 gigs of DDR4 just a couple of months before the upward trend
Phew

Cyberpunk 2077 is going to need 16gb for minimum requirements.

but, I have 64 GB

I spent $240 CAD on 16gb DDR3 ram. How'd I do?

>bought 16 gb ddr4 3200mhz ram for $60
>another 16 now would cost $170

its all over for me friends

I fell for the 16 meme and I'm gonna fall for the 32 one once ddr5 comes out :^)

>tfw I fell for 12GB RAM meme and don't use more than 2GB

Went with 16GB for my current build. Am regretting it immensely.
Should really have gone up to at least 32GB, there's shit I have to run to the lab for that I really wouldn't have to otherwise simply because 16GB is nowhere near enough to even open some of my larger projects.

>uses it to browse facebook and youtube
some of us actually *use* a computer, and my old 8gib mem computer was running into swap quite often

16gib is minimum in the current year

>fell for the 16GB ram in 2013
>RAM is more expensive now than it was back then
>still using my i7 processor which is still plenty fast

Fucking glad I wasn't on this shitty board, and instead was on Jow Forums mostly

>tfw 4 gb
I'm not going to make it anons

It's ironic how this meme got turned right back on it's face as it was original posted to imply that buying 16GiB was a waste a complete of money yet those who did are now better off than those who didn't.

Who gives a shit, that game is made by devs who practically swim in their own pride and pretentiosness. Have some self respect

still probably best devteam out there
I've only got to play some of the witcher 2 myself (not a gamerfag) but you can't deny they produce quality stuff
also no DRM policy is admirable

>spend money
>on overpriced never use
>now 'better off'
wut

8Gb RAM here, it's definitely lacking for my needs.

I have 8GB
almost never use over 6 and have _never_ had to dip into my swap
what the fuck are you guys doing with your computers?

Did you conveniently forget that RAM almost doubled in price and still hasn't gone back down much? Maybe you should Waitâ„¢ some more.

Lmao I wish what you were saying was true, unfortunately the 3rd entry is a trash game disguised as an epic cinematic adventure. The fact CDPR admitted during a Cyberpunk 2077 interview that the gameplay was by far the weakest part of their games should be saying something... Even fucking Kojima makes better interactive works than that meme company

Confidence != pride

>using your OS in spanish
Why?

...

idk how u guys have problems
I have 8gb and im fine

la memoria....

Using them

more than you

what do you need more than 8gb for? games?

Studying Spanish as my 3rd language now, every bit helps I guess and win10 makes it easy to swap OS language on the fly so why not.

>oh no I've spent few $ more to buy something that I can easily use in a near future or sell
>how I will ever recover?

Attached: download.png (1280x1172, 768K)

No way, have you seen that blur and loss of detail on distance? Its obvious game is going to consoles and shit, and it will never need 16gb without various rape mods

I wish I had 16gb ram, I am actually productive, and when I'm running virtual machines to do work, I'm left with 700mb ram, unless I close my 4k porn that helps me relax.

If you ever play games, you can run multiple clients.

I used to play Maplestory 1, where I ran 3 characters to assist my main one.

Since you need Windows vm's, you need like an extra 6gb ram to run them on top of your base.

So clearly 8gb ram is not enough.

My next build is going to have at least 32 GB. Not being able to run some vms locally fucking sucks.

/v/ is full of CDPR shills, what the fuck are you even implying?

Whorring for attention on Twitter while bashing other companies isn't exactly the best example of confidence, it's called being full of himself.

>tfw you fell for it when it was still cheap

Then it means it's unoptimized trash

Based "tfw fell for the 16GiB RAM meme" poster!

>playing games
you have to be 18 to post here

>still running i7 920 with 6GB triple channel DDR3
>still maxing out new games at 1440p

There is literally no reason for 99% of people to have more than 8GB of memory or a high end CPU.

>used to

Learn to read you retard.

>too stupid to come up with uses for ram

If you want to run a Windows VM on Linux to test your software, your 8gb ram will start to look quite restrictive.

You can't have too much RAM. The memory manager on your OS will use it for caching. It's just a real a question how much you personally will get in value from buying more.

You ran run windows 10 with 2GB ram, and linux can easily use

Yeah you can have too much because its worthless and you can just spend the money on a better monitor or any other parts or just save it. If all you do is what 99% of people do browse the internet, game, even if you develop software or 90% of other professional stuff 8GB is more than plenty.

they are the "ram not used is wasted" meme people, who are confused when their ram dies twice a year just so they never have to close their 3000 chrome tabs
>cpus not at 100 percent usage at all times are wasted!
>if you aren't bottlenecking every time you try to open literally anything u are wasting ur parts
>n-NO DO NOT USE LIGHTWEIGHT FOSS ALTERNATIVES USE OUR FREMIUM CLIENT ITS MATERIAL DESIGN

i'm still running 8gb ddr2 and desu i've maxed out a couple times. once while editing a time lapse and sometimes from opera but i'm pretty sure it was a memory leak.

Wtf are you talking ram dying? Lmao I've been running the same 6GB of ram for 9 years now overclocked. Never had ram die.

>8gb
>freezing, stuttering and slow load times
>firefox takes up a gig alone

what does that matter when the rest of the operating system uses 200 megabytes
