>it's an "Intel knowingly launches insecure processors with hardware security vulnerabilities and the tech press and tech tubers say nothing about it" type of episode

imagine if a car manufacturer knowingly released cars with faulty breaks

8c/16t 5ghz+ though

Neutral on the 9900k packaging but I am an industrial designer and recently purchased a Threadripper 2950x and the extra design they add to the packaging does add to the "premium" feeling for expensive hardware. Even if it's just psychologically, it's disappointing to purchase a 2000 dollar high end Intel CPU and it comes in the same packaging as a 50 dollar celeron.

Expensive packaging is a meme

You take a look at it later and realize the item is now outdated and worth 20% of its original value and you throw that shit out

That might be your opinion, but packaging design is an enormous field these days.

I don't doubt it

>it's disappointing to purchase a 2000 dollar high end Intel CPU and it comes in the same packaging as a 50 dollar celeron.
I just don't give a fuck about the packaging.
To me what's dissapointing is the fact that it only has
>16 threads
>16 pcie lanes
>no ecc
>needs new socket
>$500+
It's just a big fuck you to anyone interested in buying their cpus.
Thanks intel you just released an 1800x without ecc compatability for $500+, and gimped the rest of your shit to do it.
FUCK YOU!

Yeah, honestly.
Learning I'd need to upgrade my mobo anyways, I just bought a 1950x

I thought 9th generation didn't need a new socket. Is this specific to the i9 9900k?

Attached: dodecahedron.png (400x359, 199K)

Meant possibly a new chipset/mobo.
But intel would still be fucking dicks even if they were 100% compatible with current boards.
>16pcie lanes

cool

I agree. You can get actual working ECC on a X370 board today. The fact that Intel is so jewish about ECC pisses me off.

truth

Oh yeah, and beware of the GA-AX470 Gaming 5. The X470 version of the same board does NOT HAVE ECC support.

Their site:
GA-AX370 Gaming 5: gigabyte.com/eu/Motherboard/GA-AX370-Gaming-5-rev-10#sp
>Support for ECC Un-buffered DIMM 1Rx8/2Rx8 memory modules
>* ECC function is limited if using an AMD Athlon™ 200-series APU.
GA-AX470 Gaming 5: gigabyte.com/eu/Motherboard/X470-AORUS-GAMING-5-WIFI-rev-10#sp
>Support for ECC Un-buffered DIMM 1Rx8/2Rx8 memory modules (operate in non-ECC mode)

Note the "operate in non-ECC" mode. It is not supported on the X470 board.

I read that ASrock confirmed that they enabled ecc for x370 boards. Twas looking at those.

>BASED
>INTEL
Pick one.

I believe ASRock's X470 boards also have ECC, but don't take my word on that. Go with ASRock anyway. I honestly can't recommend Gigabyte's boards simply because they are completely incompetent with UEFI.

I mean, it works, but I don't feel like I should legitimately feel scared of upgrading UEFI because something surely must've broken.

When will the i5 9600k hit retail? My i5 750 motherboard just died and I need a new computer quick

>My i5 750 motherboard just died and I need a new computer quick
just buy another motherboard...? cant cost that much, right?

or upgrade to a non-dead platform, dumbass...

>When will the new cpu comes out?
>"Upgrade to a new platform dumbass!"
Wow user, you sure are smart.

Why not just get a Ryzen 2600 and OC it or an i5 8400?

So what if i had four ssd/hdd, a gpu and a sound card with this high end cpu? Every PCIe-lane would be 1x? Fucking great.

How much is the actual TDP? 200W? What about all core turbo after an hour of use and not just the benchmarks? How much will Spectre microcode updates slow the CPU?

Intel has used my trust. I used to rave about my 6600k gum edition.

not him, but speaking about hardware security vulnerabilities.

Intel knowingly launched Coffee Lake 8th gen CPU after they had known about the vulnerabilities months before the launch. They even fucking rushed the Coffee Lake launch by several months in fact.

And these 9th gen will also have hardware security vulnerabilities. I think they are up to like 24+ vulnerabilities now (many different variants of Spectre, L1 terminal fault, Meltdown etc TLbleed so many names).

You think any tech tuber and tech press will mention that these new processors have hardware security vulnerabilities in them? No i didn't thinkso...

>paid shill
He no longer works for Intlel, he has been doing it for free for quite a while now, absolutely pathetic.

I am pretty sure new gen supports current LGA1511 socket and they all have soldered IHS. i9 will be little bit more than i7 so a lot of people are gonna buy it. Not sure if it will have benefits for gaming with core/thread ratio not better than i7 already. But that won't stop a single person

For the silent majority who care

Yeah, this was such a fucking short sighted move it hurts. Who the fuck except the paid shills trusts Intel anymore? They clearly just use their strong marketing to cover the weaknesses up. What hurts also is how it all works. Customers eat this shit up with a smile on their face.

Also, to me it seems marketing and excel money pushing management have taken over Intel long time ago. I don't think good engineers can be very happy with this. The engineers who are like that french twitter dude (every devils canyon cpu will go 5GHz etc.) don't care.

Holy shit sub 500 for 16 threads at 5GHz
Ayymd is literally finished, hope you sold your stock in time

>Sub $500
What does this mean $450-$499.99?
A 12 core Thread ripper costs that much on Amazon right now.

He thinks it’s a fire and not The Jews of Asia, South Korea, in a price fixing cartel-cabal!

TR has 24threads, 64 pcie lanes, and ecc.
I9-9900k 16 threads, 16 pcie lanes, and no ecc.

We all know that it's the hardware cartel.
They get caught every fucking few years.

That is actually just a decahedron

Post your predictions for the salt when benchmarks come out showing the 9900k wrecking AMD.

Attached: 4563548343253.png (653x726, 34K)

499, it's still a good deal, considering this CPU can be used for everything as it's both good at single threaded and multi thread workloads.

TR is a disaster, 4 glued together 8 cores with 70% of them disabled

At what? Vulnerabilities?

>499, it's still a good deal
You're not fooling anyone Moshe.
>16 pcie lanes
>No ecc
>Vulnerabilities
>Needs new mobo
>Probably has a shit cooler if any
TFW the more you buy the more you save with Intel.
Tfw $500 is a good buy for a mainstream CPU.
Fuck off with that bullshit.

AMD shills were attacking Steve's Twitter because he mentioned something 'really fast' and want him to shit on Intel's pricing for their 9th gen CPUs.

Don't be sourgrapes that you can't afford RTX + 9900k

That's why AMD exists, its literally the budget brand for PC hardware

2 HOURS TILL THE DEATH OF AYYMD HOUSEFIRES RYPOO GARBAGE

source?

Nice attempt at damage control, but it doesn't need a new motherboard, it runs on the mainstream 8th gen platforms, which means you get HEDT performance without needing expensive mobos like poo ripper.

Intel just lost another customer to amd today.

>It doesn't need a new motherboard
Oh that makes it slightly better.

>$500
>mainstream
For $500 they could add a few more pcie lanes, and ecc.
