He probably means "well paid relative to other software engineers in his country"

Mathematician
300k/year

Its math heavy but that shit is second nature to me.
Matrices and projections and vector math and some Calc and writing shader code.
Honestly the people I work for don't understand shit about cgi so they come to me with high level requests like making the lighting look better and "make the fps better for mobile".

Being a white straight male is the worst possible life choice you could make right now.

That's like euro vacation and sandfrandcisco pay.
>wtf?

>not 300,000k
ya blew it

>"Chemical" "Engineer"

Honestly what I really do is mostly environmental compliance for the plant. But no complaints here.

>make the fps better for mobile
The absolute horror.

kill that thing with fire

It is. These guys have an 8k stereoscopic video being decoded in the background and want to render a 3d scene with screen space reflections on top of it. On the Oculus go(basically a phone).
I only optimized it enough to get 45 fps but these guys simply never had a guy tell them "you can't do that on mobile" until now.
They hired me right out of school and I picked this over a relocation job and I'm tempted to find another job because the commute is terrible and I don't think I'm being nearly paid enough for my skillset. I built them a them a nightly build server and automated enough tasks to get someone else laid off.

Thanks for reading my blog post while I'm on the metro for an hour heading to this job.

Right. So my impression of that stuff is like is dead-on.

>Honestly the people I work for don't understand shit about cgi so they come to me with high level requests like making the lighting look better and "make the fps better for mobile".
As far as I know, everything math/stats heavy is like that. My condolences, it's not fun being surrounded by idiots.

I know right, the best of both worlds. I'm a eurofag working for a company that provides (only) senior software consultants for random gigs. Our monthly pay consists of nothing but 40% of our billable hours.

The funny thing is, our hourly rates aren't that much higher than other companies', we simply have no middle managers or fancy offices to eat up the difference.

No remote option unfortunately, wasn't that hard at all if you know some basic laptop and desktop troubleshooting, and finish the conversation on phone without much stutter. It's Germany btw.

Also, it's tech support for enterprise systems, laptop and desktop is something like 1300-1400 here.

Ah, I would have guessed India

Just made me think of something. Would it be beneficial to take out loans/credit cards in your kids names and actually pay them back so that they have decent credit when they're old enough to need their own loans?

Wtf negro, are you a complete bottom-tier code monkey?

Theoretically you could, but the identity theft would eventually be found and reported. If not by the child then the credit companies or loan companies.

What the fuck? That is awful pay. Is this part time or something?

my college is starting to give workshop on SAP.

How is it really? like a normal programming language?

i heard SAP devs earn a ton

holly shit that's barely enough for comfortable living even for post soviet countries

SAP is a company that produces software. He is implementing said software for the various business that need it.
You're probably thinking about that crappy (but easy) scripting language that you can use on all SAP software

>front desk
>$1,800-$2,000/month

Attached: 1538591323223.jpg (716x516, 236K)

SAP isn't a programming language to my knowledge. I don't do any programming. I work with companies as a consultant to help them implement (switch to/add on to/switch off of) SAP (a large business software tool).
I don't mind the work. SAP is incredibly complex and multifaceted so there's something new to learn every day. It's also used all over the world so lots of opportunities.

They say SAP is Germany revenge on the world.

what's some good side work for extra cash?

I troubleshoot and repair smartphones as well as tablets at a service center. Mainly Samsung but sometimes they shift people around to different lines depending on workloads.
I'm paid 100.78 SEK/h with a 40 hour work week, 25 days paid vacation/year. Average monthly salary is about 12500kr (~$1 373) post tax.

Kek, I don't doubt it. I've been on a few engagements these past 2 years to move OFF of SAP which was pretty interesting.

I've been here for 4 years now (straight out of college), but I'm thinking of moving to IT audit or something in some private company for max comfy. SAP will die eventually and if I form my whole career around it, it's probably not good long term.
