>546 packages

>uptime: 23 mins
Why do Archfags always have such low uptime? Is it because it constantly crashes?

(You)

Arch has *never* been minimalist... a Linux kernel with every module
available and every feature enabled at least when there's no non-bloat
related cost, feature-packed/complex GNU tools, nearly all optional
features enabled across all the packages, etc.

It has never been a minimalist distribution. Splitting packages is rare
compared to other distributions, and dependencies aren't made optional
whenever possible.

Because the first thing I do in the morning is drink coffee, smoke a cigarette and post a thread on Jow Forums.

Reminder Arch lies in the package count, also this

you can just call them desktop threads now

There's not a single practical reason to use arch linux, so no, no one should have to.

however there is so much wrong with it

arch linux, more like gay

yep. and they're all friends with the mods so we won't ever get a purge.
do yourself a favor and stop posting in these threads unless you're an actually homo/pedo/fur/transexual

Does anybody realize this is like bunch of teens posting selfies?

>i3
why do you even use the computer you illiterate faggot

It's aimed at competent users.
Try again when you've gained a bit more experience.
It's actually a great distro.

beautiful

it's actually a really bad distro
call me when you've tried gentoo

Attached: Screenshot_20181012_094607.png (470x507, 269K)

Yeah, no. If competency was your metric you'd have used something like Gentoo or CRUX.
Competent users wouldn't waste their time with a distro like arch.
But, of course, you're not a competent user, so I suppose it was wrong of me to assume you'd understand that.

I did years ago.

>i3
>illiterate faggot
he can't into Wayland lamo

then what the fuck are you still using the trash pile that is arch linux for?

She says I'm boring her camera

Attached: Screen Shot 2018-10-12 at 11.48.55 AM.png (1440x900, 666K)

I'm not using Arch.
I did use it.
The first time was when it still had a graphical installer.

what's so bad about arch?

everything about it is lazy as fuck
it's "claim to fame" is a large amount of packages, which is only made possible by the AUR which is just a shitty version of the portage tree

doesn't change anything to my point, it's still boring default garbage. stop posting

Pacman, systemd, pretty much everything that makes arch linux unique. You'd be better off trying to ask "what's so good about arch?"

Nobody should give a fuck about package count.
It's a more irrelevant neofetch stat than "song"

Fucking nice.

You're bad at reading.

reasons people typically give for using arch
>customization
>minimalism
>package availability
things that arch sucks at compared to gentoo
>customization

Basado y rojopillo.

arch sucks at those things even when compared to debian/devuan

true

>package availability
>LFS
lol

arch sucks

Attached: 1538976632389.png (332x332, 113K)

this.
if I was going to make an LFS I would probably use portage

Every package is available if you're your own package manager.

that's exactly the opposite of what PACKAGE availability means
if we were considering the availability of source code to be package availability, arch and gentoo would (obviously) be equivalent

retard

oh look it's stickyfrogposter

embarassing as fuck ngl

how so

give some examples of what's lazy

pacman in my experience is the fastest package manager I've used, and it's simple. sytemd is simple (to use as a user). what's your issue with them?
>You'd be better off trying to ask "what's so good about arch?"
well something tells me you wouldn't give me an answer

I can't help but save it, even though I dislike YuruYuri.

>Arch has always been a simple distribution in terms of the developer
>perspective, not the user one. Using systemd made it simpler than ever
>in that regard because much more work is taken care of by both the
>systemd developers and all of the projects shipping unit files.
the entire philosophy of the dev team is shifting their work onto other people

>an example of what's lazy
arch-chroot
>systemd is simple to use
So is OpenRC. SystemDicks is a gigantic bloated mess and presents a serious security problem to people using it.
>pacman is fast
Config protection and package management in general are terrible in comparison to alternatives like portage or apt.

heya

Sir please do the needful and post with name or trip so I can filter your shitty postings since you will never get banned by the faggot mods
thank you

You haven't used neither Arch or Gentoo, have you?
>SystemDicks is a gigantic bloated mess and presents a serious security problem to people using it.
It isn't and it doesn't. You're just parroting.
>Config protection and package management in general are terrible
In what way? And do you really think portage and apt are good?

not him but portage and apt are a lot better than pacman
also, yea, systemd is garbage that exists only so that microsoft can embrace and extinguish free operating systems

not him but ur genuinely fuckin retarded if u think systemd isnt some kind of frankenstein mess

Attached: 1539049112394.jpg (775x845, 242K)

whats up with lain and tryhard faggots
worstest fanbase

>portage and apt are a lot better than pacman
Portage makes Python a hard dependency for the system and alongside dpkg/apt are convoluted and slow af compared to Pacman. Don't say a package manager is good until you've at least tried making a package yourself besides install/update/upgrade.
systemd was made by Red Hat and garbage to the suckless ie retarded crowd

sounds more like an intelligent thing to do

Works on my machine.

I've made a few eBuilds. comfy as fuck my dude. nothing wrong with python either, and portage is actually pretty fast you just think it's slow because of the compilation time
systemd is garbage to everyone who's not a drooling retard

>systemd

imagine using some distro with a lazy package manager that just hands you some install scripts for you to waste your own computer resources on compiling in the day and age other distros offers up to date compiled binaries for you to just download

based devuan poster

An initscript of sorts?

Attached: 1458945615421.png (861x758, 26K)

certainly you couldn't have been referencing arch linux in the distro in which the majority of packages are on the AUR, which has, dare I say it, shitty community made install scripts that require you to compile programs

I like these.

Boy you sure get some weirdos in desktop threads

Attached: 2018-10-12-195722_1920x1200_scrot.png (1920x1200, 1.08M)

Nobody cares about you or your opinion, faggot. Kill yourself.

i use arch linux but if i could access ubuntu's repositories and use apt i'd be much happier

is fluxbox supported by freebsd

shit thread

the funny thing is sinatra's timeless. but i thought blue moon was dean martin. too lazy too look up.
