Xubnutu. Legit answer.

arch loonix

It depends. What are you daily activities (besides shitposting on le epic anime image board)?

Just start with Ubuntu. Don't fall for memes. Ubuntu isn't great but it works. Once you get the hang of it you can move to better distros that require you to have a little more knowledge of things like package management. If you have hardware that doesn't work you can also try Fedora and openSUSE, which are well known enterprise distributions.

Unironically arch

Unironically this, but if you're coming from w*ndows Kubuntu might be easier to get into.

I would honestly suggest Solus.

fuck off Kevin

bunsenlabs
debian
lubuntu
xubuntu
mint

great super fucking idea, fagget

Just go with Debian dude. Despite being very good for beginners, Ubuntu is a bloated mess. Ubuntu is based off of Debian. Debian can also be really good for beginners and it isn't as bad as Ubuntu.
Just go for Debian bro. Debian is very good, you won't even have to switch off of it ever unless the developers kill it somehow or you get convinced into being a big ol' freetard who can't stand systemd.

If OP isn't retarded then he should definitely go with Xfce, but Kubuntu or Mint will definitely be more familiar.

If you have time then gentoo.

I second this

debian is the answer to your question

i like how most of the people who call KDE bloated haven't actually used it before, what people in the linux community call "bloated" is still extremely small compared to the alternatives (i.e. windows, macos)

reminder that there are people ON THIS BOARD who think urxvt is too bloated and insist on using st

linux lite

Opinions on Kubuntu vs Linux Mint KDE (unofficial)?

Non-meme answer: Ubuntu, Debian, Mint or Fedora. If you don't know then just use Ubuntu.

You have two options: One is to be distracted from the underlying requirement to learn to love the CLI, and the other is to go balls deep.

I'd recommend the first since you get a usable OS out of it. The second is intimidating and has a steep learning curve so if you go that way don't feel as if you're doing anything that's supposed to be easy. Do learn the CLI though. Choose something like ubuntu, and ease yourself into doing operations with the CLI. Read a guide on bash. The point is that when you can perform complex operations with a terminal, you can automate away pretty much any task. It's a level of power over computing that metro UIs will never give you.

Ubuntu. It has the most third party support and guides . Remember all distros can be customised to look and behave like any other distro, so selecting a distro based on looks is pointless.

Gentoo is a meme

Most distros are little more than snowflake projects

from what I can tell this seems to be pretty accurate, all this ricing shit just looks gay as hell, thanks for the help

it depends on the specs of your machine:
1) Lubuntu for low requirements
2) MX Linux for average requirements
3) KDE Neon for more than average requirements

for start:
ubuntu,fedora,debian
later:
arch,minimal distros, lfs

chinese distros is the way to go. don't install any european or us based distros.

Jow Forums is full of fringe nerds that will make fun of you for being too mainstream with Linux distros and DE's. They will literally spend days installing and ricing distros just to post Neofetches on a Mongolian grass whistling image board. The sooner you realize Stallman is nut job if he thinks everything can be free and that software made by people who get paid is always better, the better you will be.

stop insulting unixporn addicts. they are very fragile souls. posting in desktop thread is all they have.
