Vim

Vim.
Emacs.
It all goes to dust. There will be only one editor that will stand the test of time. The eternal. The divine.

Danny... Uriel...
Is that you?

On a side note:
Acme is fucking retarded and 9fronts wants to get rid of it. They had problems even accepting a spaces indent patch.
It was meant as a windowing system, not an editor

Bump

Acme is inferior to Sam.

What happened? I thought Acme was supposed to be less harmful than the alternatives.

>Vi
>Emacs
4 decades and still used by the majority of non-JS/Java programmers

>Acme
Forgotten by everyone but some NEETs

notepad++ is better

Acme is basically rio. It manages windows and it can run standalone. It is dead tho and no one at cat-v wants it anymore

Can anyone tell me why you would use this instead of Notepad++/notepadqq?
I don't really have to use the mouse anyways, I just write the code, alt+tab to the terminal and compile it. How do the others save time?
Not meming, just trying to understand.

Acme is shit but notepad++ is even worse
Gay
Shit meme kys

acmeme is obsolete and provides nothing over emacs, vim, sublime text, ...

What do they use instead? Sam is basically the same thing. I guess Acme and Sam suck more than say vi or Emacs.

Just use emacs or neovim-qt

Let's write a modern acme clone!
I'll make the logo.

they use sam and it is not the same thing

Vim doesn't require any time to configure. Also, even if you run a riced emacs, that's something you do once, then you cam rsync your config from another machine to your new one.

Pic related
Configured emacs is op, vim is shit even with config

sam is literally a graphical version of ed, more so than vi

>not knowing GNU is the only sane evolution of U*IX

Can someone explain why you guys would rather use these decades old editors like vim and nano rather than Sublime (asking unironically)

OP, you got some utilities or scripts to go along with acme? I've been looking around but haven't found anything of note yet.
How would I run a syntax checker on the currently working file, for exmaple?

As long as Sublime has the same vim/emacs keybindings I don't see why not use Sublime. Still, you can't use Sublime through ssh.

When I said they were basically the same thing I meant that they both have a their own window system.

proprietary

Because the shell is my development environment.

So we all agree Sam is the final solution of editors?

shame that no one ever packages deadpixi's fork of it

It can't even open files that have spaces in the path.
