any good budget mechanical keyboards that don't look like razer-gamer vomit? trying to find a good one but it seems to be more challenging than I thought

MK typist.

god bless

i know the reason for higher cost in smaller form factors but jesus christ, man, sometimes.

at that price, a ducky would be better

It is a type c with hotswapple switches and a high profile case. If you don't get the switches you save more as well.

oh. not bad then.

>using anything besides a unicomp keyboard
You might as well throw your money away.

>not having 3 unicomps and having enough money to throw away on using another keyboard
You might as well kill yourself

>not using a 4704 model F

could anyone give a honest review of the GMMK?
cant find anything better with gateron clear switches

>Not spending 20% of your monthly paycheck of keyboards
This is how I can tell you're not a power user.

shit you got me. I spend it on investments and retirement funds. Fuck!

It's good once you switch out the stabilizers with genuine cherry stabilizers.

There is your honest review.

Looking into a Leopold FC900R with Korean layout. I contacted Leopold and they offered me 160 euro bucks shipping included. Should I still try to contact some EU sellers asking if they can get a Korean one on their next order, or do you guys think this will be as good as it gets?

And if I do, what do you think would mkg spergs want from Leopold, that I could flip here on ebay?

Attached: 1442778937679.jpg (768x1024, 77K)

>160 euro
wtf... I got mine for 110 euro. You are getting ripped off

ty bud

Nothing that they can't just order themselves. You're acting like Leopold doesn't exist.

They are made in America and they use the same moldings from the Model M. How is it shit?

Attached: 1438209576560.jpg (400x300, 22K)

They're basically just the lexmark made model m's, which are not as high quality as the older IBM made ones.

Is there a guide of all of the different mechanical keyswitches and their actuation lengths? I like very, very shallow actuation, so a button press is as small as possible.

What are the best stabilizers i see 3 options on novelkeys

Cherry stabs, PCB mount if the plate supports it.

i have a z70 pro that will support pcb mount right? the discord tells me it will support pcb switches so

Shouldn't that already have stabilizers? Why get more? Why not just look at what stabilizers it's using and pick the same type?

>he doesn't know

>number pad
enjoy your off-center setup, retard
>hurrr i can't type the numbers on top, i need to get the hand off my mouse to enter numbers

i bought it without switches and caps cause i wanted to add my own

second question what size stabs do i need aside from 6.25 for the spacebar

Looks like three 2u sized stabs to me. It really should be obvious which keys require stabs by looking at the plate.

Anyone else interested in the GMK Monochrome setup going right now? Really want it, but at the same time I'm not sure I can push myself to drop the cash on it when I'm already looking to buy another diy kit.

Depends on what layout you're using.

standard ansi heres a pic

ok thanks, sorry im new to this most keebs ive bought came complete

Then link it, please. Read that I want Korean keycaps.

Well they have some pink shit on their website, that I haven't seen here so far.

this

> not using model m
> limited N key rollover because usb
> higher latency because usb

It's like you are just bad at computers.
I bought a dozen for $5 each years ago, wish I had bought more to sell for 120+ now.

The model m is a shitty membrane keyboard that has 2kro and much higher latency then most USB keyboards despite using PS/2. The model F is superior in every way and can still be had for 30-40 bucks

Why do so many layouts take out key keys like ~ but not caps lock?

trying to find a decent layout with Kailh BOX burnt oranges is impossible.

hey what do we think of the gigabyte k85? pretty good for the price from what i see. chuck some custom caps on it and remove the gigabyte logo and it seems pretty g

I just picked up a Vortex Core and Vortex Race 3,
both great keyboards.

Attached: Vortex_race3.jpg (1280x720, 115K)

i just spend $120 on pmk blanks kill me

my race3 has browns and the core has blues, not sure which I prefer to be honest, although MX Browns are not really that tactile imo.

MX Browns

I just bought a corsair K70 LUX on a whim. I felt like posting it here to see how badly I fucked up. Literally never had a nice keyboard before despite being a programmer for 10 years.

anyone has feedback for Drevo Calibur?
is it worth it?

>a 50 dollar motherboard

Because caps lock is used more than tilde, regardless, build a board and put whatever switches

whats the least amount of keys?

I'm thinking brown because this will be my first mechanical keyboard I've ever used, though idk, open to suggestions

I'm thinking no numpad

I couldnt give a fuck about lights and shit, the simpler the better

I don't think i've ever used a mechanical board before, maybe when i was a kid on my family's older computers, not sure

What i'm looking for mostly, is something simple, most of the boards i've seen just looking around so far have been covered in dumb logos, crazy lights, and all these special media buttons and scroll wheels and shit. no thanks.
im gonna be using it a lot for work stuff ie CAD and some programming
I'll also be playing the occasional game

Thanks in advance,
love you

40%ers: how hard is it to type in things with numbers (e.g. passwords)?

*smug grin*
we have LAYERS
btw I also use Arch

Attached: 1539464759703.jpg (838x638, 145K)

But switching between layers while typing in a password must be slow, right?

>no numpad

Okay...
Ducky One 2 then
pccasegear.com/products/41287/ducky-one-2-skyline-tkl-mechanical-keyboard-cherry-brown

Not really. You can just press a single button and the keyboard will switch to another layer, or you can press and hold to switch to another layer, or you can configure it so that long pressing will input another layers input without switching layers, you can also do a mixture of several methods so you can have layers in layers. It's all up to you really. The keyboard is fully programmable

Neat, thanks user.

>dirty reds

thanks pal

I'm not sure if I want to buy a buckling spring keyboard if they only support 2KRO.

>buckling spring

Buy an F77 from modelfkeyboards dot com

I want a low profile mechanical keyboard with clicky switches, nice high quality pbt keycaps, backlit with an aluminum chassis.
100% or tkl, but nothing smaller. Must look sturdy and high quality.
I have a $400 budget, any clues.

Got this Model M yesterday. Beautiful, replaced my gaymen mechanical keyboard.

Attached: model m.jpg (2880x1536, 398K)

Is the Ergodox EZ worth the price? Thinking about getting one. Can I get one without key caps?

Attached: IMG_0556.jpg (1920x1080, 211K)

Very nice, user.

>Beautiful
well that's one way to describe the worst model that IBM made

Model M is the worst?

There are several different models of the IBM model M, and you have the worst one.

I don't see your point brah, it has detachable cord, buckling spring keys with key stems, made in 91. What else do you expect?

Is there such thing as a mechanical key that's just a binary mouse click? I'd fucking love a keyboard like that.

I'm planning a keyboard out of plywood (for easy prototyping). Do you think chink clear keycaps could look nice? Or will they look chink? I suppose clears have greater potential for chink look. I'm talking about

I want to buy a 122 keys model m. Anything I should look for when buying one?

how can people accept keyboards without F-keys? I can see how you can want to reduce with of the keyboard by taking off the numpad, but removing those poor F-keys seems like form over function to me.

Also removing stuff like Ins, Del, PgUp etc is retarded too.

*reduce width, not 'with'

First time buyer, want something smallish, dvorak, and tactile without sounding like popcorn. Usage will be programming and writing papers.
I like brown, grey and white, no gaymer shit.

Thanks.

What's the deal with form factors? 60% are useful for on the go for programmers etc?

Is it worth it just for typing? I am thinking about Logitech Illuminated, so it's mobile and thin, and doesn't take too much desk space vertically.

What keyboard is this?

Better build quality. Those are literally have the worst build quality of the IBM made model Ms. At least replace the spacebar with a PBT one instead of that ABS garbage. Fixing the misaligned keycaps might be too much work for that piece of junk, but if you bolt mod it you'll have a solid typing experience

Why don't people makendifferebt colored blank xda caps?

It was worth the wait, lads
