Desktop PCs are almost never stolen, mostly because it also requires B&E, they're bulky and so hard to carry quickly. They're also way too easy to identify due to massive number of serial numbers in them on the components and quite often tracking software that can be installed. Most criminals do not have the knowledge to wipe and reset the PC for resale and would never keep one themselves.

Criminals target light weight and high value goods like jewelry, cash, that kinda thing.

You can FDE slower backup HDDs and use SSDs in the clear for doing processing and then store that data back to the HDDs for long term storage which is what I do.

You do not need ECC RAM in almost all cases, it's very specific requirement, usually for people doing data science or simulations or that kind of thing. Most of the time errors in memory will just crash an application or in media be so unnoticeable that you can't even detect it.

Who the fuck still uses DVD drives? I rarely use that shit anymore. Last time I used mine was months ago.
