CPU >R3 2200G - Bare minimum gaming(dGPU optional) >R5 2400G/i5-8400 - Consider IF on sale >R5 2600/X - Good gaming & multithreaded work use CPUs >R7 2700/X - Best value high-end CPU on a non-HEDT platform >Wait for R7 3700X - Surely the best overall and not a massive disappointment like the 9900k >Threadripper/Used Xeon - HEDT
RAM >8GB - Enough for most gaming use >16GB - Standard for heavy use >32GB - If you have to ask, you don't need this >CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 2933MHz+ is ideal
Graphics cards >RTX 2000 cards are worse performance per $ than previous gen >Avoid cheap MODELS ie MSI Armor (Mk2 is ok), Gigabyte G1/Wf, ASUS dual, and others w/ small heatsinks and low quality fans 1080p >RX 570/580 w/ Freesync or 1060 6GB - standard 1080p 60fps+ options >1050 3Gb or RX560 4Gb - lower settings and/or older games >GTX 1070Ti/Vega 56 - for higher FPS w/ a high hz monitor 1440p >Vega 56; 1070Ti/1080 if you already have Gsync >GTX 1080Ti - for higher FPS w/ a high hz monitor 4K >Upscale from 1620-1800p. Maybe 2080Ti, but awful value. OpenCL use >Vega 64
Storage >Backup before using StoreMi >Consider getting a larger SSD (better GB/$) instead of small SSD & large HDD >2TB HDDs are barely more $ than 1TB >M.2 is a form factor, NOT a performance standard >NVMe are not for gaming; See "More"
Display >Consider 75hz minimum; 60hz are mostly old models. >Always consider FreeSync w/ AMD cards >PLAN YOUR BUILD AROUND YOUR MONITOR IF GAMING
Are the Nitro+ cards worth the extra 20-30 bucks on a 580?

May I have that one giant pic with tons of AMD vs Intel fps?

But I'm absolutely without a gpu right now. I don't want to buy a temporary gpu just to use a pc. Also I plan to upgrade the cpu when ryzen 4xxx will be released.
Blake Richardson
didn't see anything there desu, as far as i can tell the light is directly connected to the pump power itself, and corsair link doesn't even recognize the cpu cooler
Because they'd rather produce Xeon chips that sell for a bit more than that.
I'm probably going to waitfag a few months after the 3700X launch so I can get it for
Levi Rogers
Not anymore for like 2 years

personally, I'd recommend a 2200G, it's the best value for money, it can overclock easily to match 2400G stock and with a dedicated GPU, it performs only about 2% worse than the 2400G. the only somewhat worrying factor is the 4 threads on the 2200G as opposed to 8 on the 2400G, which makes it 0% futureproof but since you're anticipating an upgrade in 2020, maybe it's not a concern at all. thing is, maybe with a 2600 you wouldn't have to upgrade at all and buying that with a GPU now would probably save you something like a 100 bucks in the long run. neither is the wrong way to go probably, and maybe waiting for the next non-refresh GPUs with a 2200G will prove to be the smart man's choice, but at the same time, the sweet spot for those cards will probably be bottlenecked by the 2200G and you will want to upgrade sooner than you thought originally.
as a rule of thumb, it's always best to buy for your current needs.
Bentley Rogers
oh and, if you're really desperate to put a machine together now but upgrade later, maybe consider the 200GE to tide you over.
Gabriel Stewart
Makes sense, but I forgot to mention that I'd reuse the cpu for a general use + light gaming pc at parent's house for them and my young brother. That's why I was considering a 2400G, to be more future proof.
Julian Butler
if you plan to reuse it and not try to flip it for a quick buck then yeah I agree, 2400G is a good choice.
Zachary Clark
They used to go on sale for $130-$135 but I haven't seen that price for MONTHS given that they're pretty in demand and laptop manufacturers are buying them up for 2500U/2700U/2800H laptops.
If you really want the best possible APU to tide you over... you just have to bite the bullet and pay more. Since you plan on upgrading the CPU until 2020 then the extra threads definitely help. Some games just won't run over 60fps minimums on only 4 threads even if you turn settings way down. Since you plan on passing it down, yeah that's all the more reason to just go 2400G as well. At least RAM and shit is a bit cheaper now.
Noah Anderson
why is Jow Forums chimping out over $500? CPUs are supposed to be expensive and as much of an experience as buying a gpu.
Ayden Campbell
No one has a problem with $900+ Threadripper, poorfag.
Zachary Hernandez
Stop kvetching and just buy it.
Levi Morris
>Avoid cheap MODELS ie MSI Armor (Mk2 is ok), Gigabyte G1/Wf, ASUS dual, and others w/ small heatsinks and low quality fans Whoever wrote this OP is pulling bullshit straight up his ass. These cards have been best value with their prices and the cooling only make you lose like 2 bins from the nvidia turbo which is like 26MHz. Big deal. The MSI Armor has the same fans as her bigger sister, and a 1070 doesn't heat up that much anyway.
Jose Jones
I have some 2014 Intel Xeon, can't remember the name atm and I'm at work. My gpu is Nvidia Quadro 2000d and I have 16gb RAM. On most games, I get noticable fps drops, even on Ori and Hollow Knight. If I upgrade only my CPU to 2700x, will that improve my in-game performace slightly, or do I still need new GPU?
Jackson Lee
>NO Speccy. Use HWinfo Why?
Jordan Reed
what's up with the blatant racism on this board?
Zachary Hall
>Quadro 2000d Slower than a GTX 650.
You need a new GPU.
Jordan Martinez
Speccy is shit for temp readings.
Christopher Reed
Just change the GPU, easier and more effective. Yours isn't even made for gaming.
>CPUs are supposed to be expensive I remember that there were anons who paid $500 for the 1800x, and they ended up saving even more money after they upgraded to the 2700x.
Connor Scott
Did AMD release the update to play 4k Blu Rays from disc yet? It's been a few months since they announced they would, but no confirmation as of yet.
Sebastian Powell
I wanted to get a motherboard z390 with wifi/bluetooth. But must it come with this dildo thing for it to work?
I plan to use it with an air cooler for my new CPU. What I have is decent and "free" but I wonder if it being on the shelf so long has effected it's performance. The acrtic provide a decent amount of the stuff, 4g, and there is a temp drop and is over all okay The kryonaut gives the bigggest difference but it costs the most and only gives 1g of thermal paste. I dunno, seems like I should either use the shit I already have and have decent performance or get 1g of kryonaut if I want to bump those temps down the most. Or am I wrong?
Benjamin Sullivan
any B450mATX boards able to?
Nolan Young
MSI Bazooka has gotten some good reviews. Not sure if it will meet your needs desu.
a sensible choice. smaller footprint than frankly stupid ATX which almost no one really needs, while removing potential worries in mITX builds such as thermals.
Asher Moore
to the non-paid shills of both AMD and Intel: seriously, what do you get out of it? What's your motivation? What do you intend to gain out of shitting up threads and misleading newtards?
>why does a computer have to be a lights show Really, is there even anyone who enjoys it? Apart from Linus RGB Tips himself, I've never seen anyone buying hardware for the sake of the lightshow; rather the opposite, I've only seen people disliking it. Who are these people buying RGB trinkets? Is it an Asia thing?
Easton Kelly
I actually do this to make AMD fags assblasted >Boomer and his 5 friends don't have rgb means everyone hates it while it's the most popular thing to do now Cringe, leave your basement and bubble
>I actually do this to make AMD fags assblasted A commendable objective if it weren't for the fact that you put in X effort for the same amount of butthurt generation instead of the proper as little work as possible for maximum butthurt
