This is the absolute state of google play music

>this is the absolute state of google play music

holy shit, this is what they deliver to you as 320k
how is this acceptable or even allowed?

now do spotify

uh, that's normal from what i can tell. 320kbps usually has a cutoff around 16khz...

>listening to music

You can't hear past 20kHz

Doesn't even matter when listening to such trash.

Does it matter?

Spotify isn't available here, but I tried Deezer and it delivers solid 320k

It has a slight shelf at 16khz and a cutoff at 20.5khz
128kbps has a cutoff at 16khz

Memes aside, like 90% of the files I tested look like this, I managed to find only a few tracks which dont look like a shitty transcode

the older you get the less you can hear. by 30 years old most people can barely hear 16khz

I know.

grimes is supposed to sound weird

You can tell it's compressed because it's flat on top.

what am I supposed to see here and be angry about? I don't know much about this stuff

Be glad you don't suffer from the worst mental illness to exist: audophilia

I use tidal HiFi :^)

>Does it matter?
Yes it does, you have to review more than one artist to see if a service is bad or not, you idiot.

Show me where I can find higher quality LEGALLY OBTAINED music that isnt iTunes or spotify

Beatport or physical cds from Amazon that you can rip to your computer using XLD or adobe audition

Buy the CDs.
works for me

>renting music

>waiting for shipping

Nah I have a 100 mbps connection and q phone with expandable storage where can I download flac legally?

Bandcamp

HDTracks

Ear hymen is torn.

do Tidal

>am 30
>17-17.5k is my cut off

Tidal

>It has a slight shelf at 16khz and a cutoff at 20.5khz
>128kbps has a cutoff at 16khz
Entire collection is on mp3 320k
Fuck this shit, now I'll have to wait until AI can reconstruct the bits that got lost

>legally
eh
git.fuwafuwa.moe/SMLoadrDev/SMLoadr/releases

Is that bad? I don't really care desu

I'm pretty sure he's referring to how there's no dynamic range

It's the fault of the uploader not GPM

Basically whoever recorded it is a retard.

Waves affect other waves.

>128kbps has a cutoff at 16khz
fdk-aac 128kbps has a cutoff at 16khz
Apple aac 128kbps has a cutoff at 17.5khz
Vorbis 128kbps has a cutoff at 18khz
Opus 128kbps has a cutoff at 20khz

How's this program work? What's this mean?
Is this a good result or a bad one?

It never occurred to me the DRM would be that bad

>most people

It's basically showing how loud the track is in different frequencies over time.
Your track appears to get loud in many frequencies around 2:40 to 3:40 but most of the time low frequencies are the loudest.

Basically the lower it cuts off, the worse quality it is
You have a genuine FLAC file so it doesn't cut off
MP3 320 cuts off around 20 kHz
MP3 128 cuts off around 16 kHz

This.

this

>be 25
>just check a 20-20k test
>lost it at like 15-16
>30 seconds later im reminded i sometimes get tinitus

must be nice

It's pretty funny huh. you'd think they'd have this stopped already.

redpill me on this, what's a good song quality supposed to look like

This thing is just to analyze how much of the audio you're losing with the compression used.
And your picture shows the picture being blew out of the range, which is great as nothing is getting eaten.

They just mass transcode the wave files they were provided. It's not their fault.

>Basically the lower it cuts off, the worse quality it is
That's not even close to correct.
The compression could be absolutely shit quality and still cover to 22kHz+.

Try tidal pleb.

Meanwhile....TIDAL 24BIT

Attached: 1 Born To Die.flac.png (1820x991, 1.38M)

Isn't this because some of the samples Grimes uses are sourced from MP3's? I'm pretty sure the CD looks like that

Sounds fine to me.

Not him, but I just ripped the FLAC from Tidal

wew, Google it's truly incompetent

It looks like most of the audio cuts off at 17Khz anyways, so the GPlay version isn't losing much. I'm willing to bet most of what's above 17Khz is artifacts anyways.

>this is me
>I'm 19

I took Grimes as an example, but this was the case with like 90% of the tracks I tried, only a few looked like genuine 320k mp3s (I was also comparing it to Deezloader)

>goolag play

What is this meme shit?

>what's a good song quality supposed to look like
It's not supposed to look like anything. It's supposed to sound good though.

kek, I can do better

Attached: KAZKA - НІХТО.flac.mp3.png (1878x564, 1.15M)

>which is great
it's evidence that the sound was jacked up during the mastering process. Perhaps the standard, but in poor taste regardless.

hes talking about mp3

its not about hearing past 20khz its about not hearing the artifacts in the audible frequency domain birthed from anti aliasing / filtering

i cant hear above 14khz

How do you make these with sox or ffmpeg?

Is it a good studio quality flac ?

Dear Lord, everything up to 25kHz is just interference from other equipments

how did i do?

Attached: 4353424.jpg (615x465, 70K)

Stop not acting normal.

Obviously that's pretty trash but it's worth noting that Grimes made/makes her music in fucking GarageBand. I wouldn't be surprised if it's kinda similar to SAW where it was originally recorded in shit quality (in SAW's case on a tape deck) and then later upscaled

Attached: 1.jpg (1920x964, 3.82M)

Google Play Music definitely has a weird compression going on.

For comparison, the left is the Google Play Music file and the right one is Deezer

it's not a tripfag it's a desperate tranny
there's no trip

I would bet quite a sizable amount of money that you cannot hear the difference between that and a CD (blind ABX test etc).

7digital

Oops, forgot you were a woman
Shouldn't have expected you to use a trip, sorry :^)

he's a tranny, moron

i have her vk, she's a female.

Honestly it depends on the song. Some see almost no difference if you use a high quality file and some see a huge difference.

They refer to the digital processing artifact known as aliasing, in which waveforms in inaudible range distorted in such way that audible waveforms appear. Unless you use retarded playback settings like 192khz on top of a $0.35 Chinese DAC based sound unit, you will never hear it.

It was banter, user
If anything I feel that "she"'s actually a dude larping. Go fuck yourself, the tranny "meme" always came off as a psyop done by funded individuals.

wtf is this shit

Great, I'm setting it to private!

please don't. i would never dox you :(

Human body starts slowly dying after reaching its peak at 25
Enjoy hitting the wall in 5 years

No, at 25 you can claim your body and brain have fully grown. That doesn't mean your bordy "starts slowly dying" after 25.

ты в киeвe?

I live in Odesa.

нy бyдeшь в киeвe пиши

Music is supposed to be listened not to be viewed dumbass. If you can't ear a difference with your ears you shouldn't be looking at graphs.

for some reason a test i just did I can listen up to 17k, but then I can clearly hear 21k, but not 18, 19, 20 or 22.

Based brainlet

That's aliasing. At that frequency your DAC craps out and produces wrong output.
