Is it possible to do something like this?
>create a box / machine with PC parts
>connect it to a computer
>it will replace the computer's part one by one, and diagnosis replacing which part giving what results, hence able to deduce what's wrong with a faulty computer, be it RAM, or CPU or fan.
Is this simply impossible?

My girlfriend is so cute.

I automatically updated my mom's PC, windows 10 system, windows decided I need to update the firmware too. Now I get the bitlocker key notification every time it reboots. What the fuck? I don't have a key and I don't recall saving anything like it, how do I get back to windows?

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 39K)

>Is this simply impossible?

You could do it with a sophisticated robot, but it is insanely impractical.

When using waifu2x is it worth activating TTA mode or is there a rule of thumb when it's actually useful?
With TTA level 8 it takes about 10 times as long for me and I didn't notice any considerable difference between some test images (although I only tested few scenarios).

regarding my page file on my ssd, looks like im actually doing 1.5xram initial size (18gb) and 2.5xram max (30gb). windows recommends 18gb page file. been running msi afterburner for about an hour now and the max it got to is 14gb. so should i set the initial size as 1.5xram and the max size as 18gb? im not really concerned with possible fragmentation or wasting space on this drive, but i am concerned with having no page file at all.

What is a good, comfortable chair preferably under ~150$?
I'm not a fatass, so it doesn't need to be extra sturdy.

Nevermind, solved it by logging into her user. Thankfully.

I wanna print something from the printer of my university. I wanted to stick the usb stick directly to the printer and just print. How secure is that? Can the admin or whatever still see what I printed there?

Set min and max sizes the same, always. I'm guessing you have 12GB RAM, so you'll never need more than 24GB (if that).

Windows 10, just bought a 2TB external WD Elements Black to backup my torrents.
How should I go about this, and keeping it up to date? I know that RAID "is not a backup," which is why I went for an external to backup now, and will set up a RAID some time in the future.

Just drag & drop every now and then? Is there some recommended program to use that will unobtrusively and frequently backup a specified directory to the external (such as maybe this "WD Discovery.exe" that was on the drive when I bought it)? And finally, regardless of response, is it suggested just to keep the drive plugged in 24/7 if I don't need the USB slot for anything else?
Plan is just to not fear losing everything when my internal which the torrents are saved on, dies one day.

>I wanted to stick the usb stick directly to the printer and just print. How secure is that?
Printers are terribly insecure, because they don't get updated.
youtube.com/watch?v=njVv7J2azY8

I would not keep an WD Elements drive plugged in and running 24/7. Much like the old Passports, they have cheap plastic arms and heat up, tends to result in the heads locking. Thus, prolonged usage is not advised.

Probably want a different system for regular backups - could always cloud critical folders. Little portable external drives like that are more for occasional backups, porting large file libraries, or offloading files you intend to delete to save space.

>And finally, regardless of response, is it suggested just to keep the drive plugged in 24/7 if I don't need the USB slot for anything else?

the ransomwares will encrypt everything that is attached, so I would disconnect it.

If windows has something like rsync and cron (linux utilities) then it could be automatic, but then you'd need to keep it connected. I wrote a script for my stuff, and I plug the drive in once a week and run it, then disconnect the drive, and I have multiple drives that I rotate periodically. Proper and effective backups are pretty much painful no matter how it is done.

can I make vim Session files save into/load from some default folder elsewhere?
All my projects are littered with Session.vim files, and they do not go well with git. I want to have a ~/.vim/Sessions where it stores to, and loads from, the files...

ok, thanks. i learned a long time ago the 2.5 and 3.5x thing, but that was before people really used more than 4gb of ram, and ive just been stuck on it since. one guy made fun of me some time ago because he had like 64gb of ram and my recommendation for the page file was ridiculous to him lol.

I want to dual boot Ubuntu with Windows 10

I have 250 GB of SSD space and 500 GB of HDD, where should I put what? How should I partition everything?

Attached: apps.63954.13510798887446365.018f40a9-2b3c-4ff8-bb22-6247f3e8bb82.png (270x270, 4K)

should I block something on this list? (that doesn't break Jow Forums-x or captcha)

Attached: 1508841698416.png (569x476, 31K)

>i learned a long time ago the 2.5 and 3.5x thing, but that was before people really used more than 4gb of ram
Yeah, and now you don't need it. Maybe 1-2GB total for a swap.

16-20GB for Ubuntu. 20GB FAT partition to pass files between OSs.

>20GB FAT partition to pass files between OSs.
HAHAHAHA fuck no.

If you don't want to pass between, then omit.

I... Don't think FAT32 is the only file system those two operating systems share incommon.

That hasn't been a good idea for like 20 years. Just write to NTFS.

>HAHAHAHA fuck no.

It fucks up linux ownership and shit, but otherwise it works fine for me. How would you do it?

Yeah, you have exFAT. Yay.
Windows can't read ext4.
Creating a FAT partition with permissions on both file systems is the most secure route.

>Creating a FAT partition with permissions on both file systems is the most secure route.
holy shit stop talking stale memes you mong.

Attached: 1524218450097.gif (256x192, 1.88M)

a large page file made more sense back when you had say, 32M ram, and a hdd that could do ~60M/s), blowing out your memory usage by 2x meant dumping 32M of data onto a 60M/s disk, even accounting for it not always being sequential writes, this wasn't going to take a whole lot of time

contrast to today, if you have 16G ram, and blow it out by 2x, that's 16G to dump to a disk.. and hdd's only go at around 150M/s if you're lucky, ssd's are much faster, but swapping on them is damaging, and even say, a 500M/s write speed ssd is /still/ going to take longer than the old example

>holy shit stop talking stale memes you mong.

You don't segregrate volume permissions for programs? Think of it like a thumb drive, that you can mount/dismount as needed, and only certain users/programs can access. Maybe you don't understand permission.

So I'm trying to change my default calendar app with the one that I've made.
What do I need to put into AndroidManifest.xml in order for the app to be recognized as a Calander-type app?

5400 1TB RPM drive as a backup drive, bad idea or a good idea?

Sure.

>using shit quality hard drive as backup
no, unless it's not your own backup option

sure what? it's WD btw

1TB is a good size for a backup drive, it's only one platter.
321 rule though. If it'd important data, make multiple backups.

what linux program can I use to encrypt/lock my (loli) porn so it's not accessible and also filenames and folder names don't show?

Will we ever see more than two threads per core? If not, why?

LUKS

>Will we ever see more than two threads per core? If not, why?
Threads are vaporware. It's basically multiplexing with skip logic. The skip logic part is what made it vulnerable.

>Windows can't read ext4.
It reads NTFS. Why would you use a filesystem with no journalling on a hard drive in Y2K+18? That's fucking retarded.

Linux can read NTFS.
NTFS is shit and fragments.
ext4 has checksums. It is linux defualt.

I don't really know where to ask this, and this is the stupid questions thread. Would someone be kind enough to tell me where is the password for the files in this page rawmangazip.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=3674&highlight=少年エース

I already tried: [email protected], the random characters besides the download links, and several combinations of those.

How can I tell if my version of Windows 7 is up to date or not? Been a long time since I've used Windows so I've completely forgotten.

press the 'windows' key on your keyboard.
type 'update'
select 'windows update'

Is there a God voice changer yet? I want to have a kawaii anime voice.

Ok, I likely have to bite the bullet and get a windows 10 install but I refuse to main os this fucking garbage. so I have 2 questions.

when 10 was coming out, people were saying things like it would break a 7 install trying to dual boot, is this true?

also, what size ssd would it require, I want to go as cheap as possible with this because I'm already fucking pissed I have to use it, I don't want to spend money on it.

I cant make a straight move to linux without a second gpu, and that wont be possible till next year maybe eirly 2020 as I still have windows shit that I need to run natively.

We already have on POWER and SPARC, but probably never on PC or mobile because nobody cares about average latency on million+ thread IO bound workloads.

>NTFS is shit and fragments.
...and FAT can't support asynchronous IO without randomly shitting itself. What does this have to do with anything?
>ext4 has checksums. It is linux defualt.
It doesn't and there is no such thing.

Dual boot.
128GB is enough.
Read the OP.

Is there a list of which game developers received Ryzen kits or is it pretty much up to the devs to share that if they want?

>>NTFS is shit and fragments.
>...and FAT can't support asynchronous IO without randomly shitting itself. What does this have to do with anything?
One OS at a time faggot. Learn basic security features with permissions.

>>ext4 has checksums. It is linux defualt.
>It doesn't and there is no such thing.
bing.com/search?q=ext4 checksum
Get bent faggot.

okay. thanks

google windows 10 ameliorated

Hey Jow Forums. Is it feasible to have btrfs on my /home partition to get i/o errors on silent data corruption? What would be downsides? I don't care for snapshots etc, just the file integrity checks.
(I backup my data (as I do regularly on multiple drives), but dont want to find in 10 years that that one picture I'd like to look at was corrupted and is gone forever.)

Attached: 97673014.jpg (680x383, 30K)

>Learn basic security features with permissions.
Linux supports NTFS permissions though? You can't prevent Windows 10 from reading a Linux formatted partition that's attached to the same computer or vice versa unless you start encrypting things.

>bing.com/search?q=ext4 checksum
>metadata
Useless.

I use NoScript on Firefox.
What should I use on Chromium?

>You can't prevent Windows 10 from reading a Linux formatted partition that's attached to the same computer or vice versa unless you start encrypting things.
Windows can't read ext4 filesystems.

>Useless.
You don't understand superblocks.
You can fix corrupted ext4 volumes very easily. I've done it numerous times. This isn't possible with NTFS.

What the fuck version Alienware laptop do I have? Is it 17, is it m17x is it 14 R4, what the hell is it? Even Dell Support page won't help me.

Bonus question: how much does this go second-hand, I want to sell it, but the prices vary from 500 to 1500 USD?

Attached: IMG_0259.jpg (656x267, 52K)

couldn't download it on manjaro, ended up using encfs.

figured out how to use it now.. but the regular unencrypted content remains, do i just delete it every time?
and is deleting it secure enough?
the (((goberment))) deems loli illegal.

LUKS is volume encryption. Create volume, encrypt, transfer files, unmount.

Probably not tech but I'll give it a shot.
Do Canyon, Trek and Scott have good aluminum and carbon frames? I know Specialized and Cannondale have great ones but they're really expensive, especially the Specialized ones.

How the fuck is this still a problem?
I can only imagine this shit being done on purpose to force people to use the bottom bar placement.

Attached: fucking_windows.png (1350x932, 670K)

Eh... Try or . We're basement dwellers here.

>Alienware
>Dell
pick both lmao

That's why I want to sell it, silly user!

macfag plz go

But I loathe MacOS X.
I'm mostly used to Linux (bspwm, no bar).
This shit is inexcusable.

Thanks, i forgot about /n/

You don't need to allow cookies and if you want to force non-js captcha via 4chanX in the future then you can also block scripts and XHR for google and gstatic (only allowing frames for google is still necessary).
Side note (ignore it if you don't plan on using non-js captcha): Non-js captcha doesn't work when you have "Spoof Referer header" enabled.

Should be a model number on it somewhere... Maybe the BIOS.

dell.com/support/article/us/en/04/sln298441/how-to-find-the-product-model-of-your-dell-computer?lang=en

thanks, I do have to allow google script because I want to click the pic instead of the tiny checkmark.

Why doesn't this get rid of all the annoying warnings after compilation? Urls have long-strings-like-this in them btw.

Is sushi browser a legit browser?

>Windows can't read ext4 filesystems.
Sure user, Botnet 10 would in no way surreptitiously read what you're storing.
>>Useless.
>You don't understand superblocks.
It's useless because you don't need checksums to detect metadata errors on ext4. Old timey filesystems do constant sniff tests and have very good semantic fsck.
>You can fix corrupted ext4 volumes very easily. This isn't possible with NTFS.

This page file discussion made me check my setup and I don't like to have my SSD eaten away with bullshit temp files so I tried to change the pagefile location to one of the HDDs instead but windows refuse this.
Piece of shit. You can't actually disable it on Win10, and setting it to the minimum makes some programs malfunction anyway (especially downloaders)

I have already installed the amdgpu-pro driver in my ubuntu machine, but I want to run and write opencl 2.0 stuff, do I just need to install this support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/OpenCL2-Driver.aspx on top of the current driver or do I need something else?

Don't worry about it. This SSD's been running both the OS and the pagefile, all while nearly entirely full, for, well, read the uptime.

SSD's kindly realloc writes internally to avoid writing to the same space, so tiny temp files, or partial files, ain't no thing. It's really huge ones being entirely written back to that causes the most stress, but this one's been doing a lotta that too.

Attached: SSD_of_necromancy.png (1014x729, 80K)

>It's really huge ones being entirely written back to that causes the most stress
When they are trying to write a file larger than the free space remaining, that already exists. Which, wouldn't be the case with a page file (as it only ever does partial updates) - but might be the case for a hibernation file, should the drive be tiny, very full, or your laptop's RAM huge.

4chanX's "Captcha Fixes" is also supposed to provide this functionality. Unfortunately last time I checked it didn't work with all *monkeys. I can only vouch for Tampermonkey.

What's a lightwate malwate/antivirus program I can use on windows 7?

The PC is going to be used by a kid so I want it to be somewhat secure.

Eset/malwarebytes/bitdefender... and a large leather belt.

Damn
Also thanks, that's reassuring. I only got an SSD since last year and tend to get paranoid for no good reason about it.

>windows 10 ameliorated
thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I'm a fucking retard and can't for the life of me figure out how to do this C++ assignment for my class. My professor has never mentioned the IsPrime and GetRange functions before this and I literally can't find any guide online on the usage of GetRange, and the ones I find of IsPrime say to use sqrt but this assignment says to not use any built in functions. All I have is this: #include

using namespace std;

int main()
{
int min,
max;

int *MinMaxPointer;

cout > min;
cout > max;

void GetRange(int & min, int& max);
MinMaxPointer

bool IsPrime(int & min, int& max);
{
if (min < 2)
{
return false;
}

for

}

Any suggestions on how to start this shit? I'm fucking awful at programing. I heard to use pointers, but I'm so shit I can't even figure that out.

I wish I had a gf like that.

So I did fresh Win 7 install on a SSD, I kept my old HDD with the other install and files because I don't wanna get rid of many things in it. I've done all the SSD tweaking tips, but I'm stuck trying to transfer firefox's appdata folders to my HDD. What am I missing?

I've messed with registry trying to direct all the user paths to the D drive, and that didn't work, installations never finished and I had to merge the registry backup. I succeeded in transferring one folder, My Documents to the HDD via the properties->location change, but there are still way more appdata folders that I would prefer to constantly write to my HDD. The properties location change will not work on AppData/Local and AppData/Roaming because of some blocked permissions or whatever. I've fumbled around so much with Firefox to move its cache/etc shit that the thing isn't even saving settings anymore. What am I missing? Is it simply impossible to move those appdata folders to a different drive?

I also noticed despite full control permissions and Firefox being closed, one of the directories that give me a problem when using properties to move the appdata folders are the Firefox profile folders saying access denied.

What's a good vpn to use that is relatively cheap or free that's good for torrenting?

I need a new computer (for games) and this is all the money I have. 1374€ Any recommendations on what to get?

hello! i am a ((leader)) of a group project at uni and we were assigned to create a web service that has to take some data that user inputs and generate a pdf file with said data. while i got the programming side covered my colleague took responsibility of hosting and maintaining the server. he asked me to provide my public key to him but i'm not familiar with public-private key encryption. how does it work and how do i connect to his server once i provide him my public key? i generated a pair of public-private keys using puttygen - will they do the job?

>need an ac compatible 5ghz network adapter for linux
>they're all the same chipset
>they all fucking need ethernet to be installed and have to be reinstalled every kernel update
Fuck my life. Anyone know any good n adapters that run at 5ghz and work out of the box on linux? Needs to be USB and run on linux out of the box on a recent kernel. The shit doesn't even work on windows without ethernet to install. It installs incorrectly when plugging in first, giving you spotty internet access. Forever. Installing the proper driver after actually makes it worse. Forever. I am too far from the router to run an ethernet cord. I am stuck with spotty internet access on windows until I can find something useable. The good N cards for linux that I know about are old and unavailable on amazon or anywhere else.

Hello /sqt/,

I hope someone can explain me what is happening
Sometimes (Not always) when start up my computer and starting my screen, a big white line is in top of my screen
This line is not always there, and it is not always very big / visible, but sometimes it is
Sometimes it stays even when my computer completely start, sometime it go away

Can someone please tell me what is cause of this?

I'm sorry for my English, I try my best
Thank you for read, I hope to get answer

Yes, you're a nigger

I've been a guitar player in small folk band for about 4 years now. I love playing live but the double tracking aspect of working in the studio has always amazed me. Is there anyway to achieve this effect live short of prerecording the track and playing with it as a backing track of sorts.

I know what waves audio makes a doubling plugin for DAWs but its not the best sounding thing in the world.

I've though of double micing my guitar but thats not very visually pleasing (all though achievable). My acoustic guitar is electric but those only put out a mono signal. Do they make acoustics with two mics in the body? i've looked around for a little bit online but haven't found anything, getting the system installed into a guitar would probably cost a pretty penny.

anyone have any other ideas?

Is Android 6 dead? Wikipedia seems to think so due to it not receiving any security updates since August this year.

what is so hard about using cracked software?
want to try out rosetta stone.
torrent seems complete all have good reviews.
follow step by step, not working.

what is the thing we are trying to do in windows to bypass the subscription checker?

I just used PixivUtil2 to rip from Pixiv for the first time, but it failed to produce the error document after failing to fully rip literally the first illustration, the forth, and the fifth. That's only what I see immediately- the rest is completely unknown to me. Running it again just says it "already downloaded" it, meaning the only option is to enable "overwrite" to download everything over again and just hope it won't silently fail again. Is this really how this program operates? This is so awful. I just wanted to rip from Pixiv and preserve the illistration IDs for importing into Hydrus, since I still don't know how to automate that in Hydrus itself.
