Because like everything, computer hacking and viruses became all about money.

I blame the jews

12 year olds aren't all over the internet as much nowadays. They're on their phones and you don't code on phones. Luckily they're swarmed to coding stupid as motherfucking posts and tweets and shit.

Hash sums. They used to be harder for antivirus to detect because they just checked filesize.

Why should anyone put forth the time and effort to make a virus that doesn't gain them anything? You waste that time, risk possible legal actions if caught, and in the end have literally nothing to show for it. Not to mention it's an asshole move to mess with other people's shit just because.

Windows eventually upped their security so it doesn't just let everything run anymore.

Back then you hacked PC and all you could find was porn
Now you can get actual sensible info so money got invested

>Hax jiggly anime titties onto government laptops while a hellish loop of gay sex noises loop forever, absolutely never
>Kill me

Virus are not really a issue anymore since no one uses email and kids don't pirate shit since there are more convenient ways of getting their games/musics.

Is it illegal to distribute a "virus"? What if hypothetically you just created it, and it got leaked?

for the lulz

Its gotten harder to propagate them for one
Although I feel like people do, you just dont hear about it since its not as widespread

this basically

this has to be a troll..

I guess its also because, why waste talent on some epic lulz when you can scam people for thousands of dollars
now that cryptocurrency is a thing

They do keyloggers too, right? I think keylogging is still popular.

>implying your mother's sex tape isn't sensible info

Because if you're going to risk a CFAA charge might as well at least get something out of it.

I would imagine that's where the money is for them.

Uhh, how did you miss the news about thr Microsoft virus that deleted your data? Not for profit, just fun.

That wasn't virus.

But they do. It's fun to lock someone from their computer.
And money is just convenient side effect.

It depends of your country. In some countries, it's illegal to share the code of a virus.

What is a "fun virus" for you?

Something that fucks your shit up for the lulz and wastes time and resources on superfluous trolling

>no one uses email
Are you 12?

>hello yes, powice, IP 192.168.0.1 gave me a virus
>uh are you still there?
>......
